And there are no fleas in my household. I'm an impeccable homemaker, so aside from it being offensive, I failed to take the proper precautions and got the virus myself. After seeking a second opinion at CCMC, it was confirmed that my son did not have FLEA BITES! I have a compromised immune system, and my son is almost 4 months old. Way too fragile and vulnerable to be in the care of a Dr who misdiagnosed him and unbudgingly stood by his mistake. I'm filling a formal complaint with the department of public health.

HERE IS MY LETTER OF COMPLAINT TO THE STATE MEDICAL BOARD: I am reporting the extremely negative experience today, June 3rd, 2019, in the treatment of myself, and my son, received by Dr. Thomas Ward, of Prohealth Physicans, at their 1001 Farmington Ave, Bristol, CT 06010 location. I believe we were nearly victims of malpractice, and at the very least, recipients of dishonest instruction, manipulative behavior and subject to every mean of intimidation, as an attempt to strongarm us to vaccinate our son according to Dr. Ward's PERSONAL BELIEFS. Here are our complaints: - Dr. Ward falsely informed me that to comply with state regulations, and return to our preschool, we would need to receive the following vaccines: MMR; DTP/DTap; Polio (included in DTap); Varicella, etc. ***Dr. Ward later admitted, when asked multiple times outright, that my son, Jackson Rulli, IS UP TO DATE ACCORDING TO STATE REGULATIONS, and that all of Dr. Ward's previous statements regarding "requirements" are in fact, JUST HIS PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS. He had been misleading/lying to me for the last hour, in at least a dozen instances, that these "recommendations" were required by the State of Connecticut. - When I asked presented Dr. Ward with a copy of our son's Immunization Record alongside the chart "Immunization Requirements for Connecticut Day Care, Family Day Care and Group Day Care Homes" (located on all general Physical Forms), and asked why we needed more vaccines if the chart indicated we had had all necessary shots, he answered loudly with, "Oh I didn't realize you were a doctor, where did you go to medical school?". I now realize this was a distraction or deferment from having to answer the question truthfully, as well as a means of intimidation. - Dr. Ward threatened not to sign off on even our physical paperwork if we didn't get the ALL vaccines he recommended. He later retracted this statement and signed the physical. - As means of intimidation, Dr. Ward showed me a chart on his computer screen, of all our medical appointments from the last four years (when I suggested delaying one of the MANY vaccines he was insisting on), saying that he "couldn't trust me because I had cancelled on vaccine appointments before". I replied saying, "Out of how many appointments, thirty? And how many were rescheduled? And how do you know cancelled appointments were for vaccine reasons, and not simply a sick visit that cleared up before coming in? Show me those numbers." He slammed his computer shut so I couldn't see it and said "I'm not going to get in a false argument with you." - As a way to induce me to comply with his personal beliefs about the Varicella (chickenpox), Dr. Ward LIED to me about the availability of MMR vaccine (which I had already consented to), saying that the MMR vaccine was ONLY available as a combined shot with the Varicella. Obviously this is a falsehood, as my son had received the MMR shot previously without any additives, and when I reminded Dr. Ward of this, he retracted his statement. - Dr. Ward engaged in fear-mongering and intimidation, by giving false and inaccurate information concerning the Varicella vaccine, saying it would prevent the (very scary) flesh-eating disease "Necrotizing Fasciitis", most commonly caused by group A streptococcal infection. However, there is no vaccine to prevent group A streptococcal infections, and the recommended action for the 4 out of 1,000,000 people who get it each year is not a vaccine, but immediate medical action. (cited from: https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/healthlinkbc-files/flesh-eating-disease) In the end, this doctor, a stand-in for our regular physician, misused the sacred trust a parent has in their child's doctor, and used his position to aggressively intimidate, manipulate and flat out lie to us, his patients, to see his strongly held personal beliefs carried out, which was at one time to have no less than FIVE VACCINATIONS injected during the visit. Dr. Ward has a widely spread reputation of aggressively mis-handling his patients among the community parent groups in the area and is doing active harm to the parent/ doctor relationship necessary for building a strong and healthy next generation. Thank you for your time reading this letter, and please know that our experiences with all other doctors in this practice including our normal physician, Dr. Brownstein, have been excellent.
