Ah Pukekohe, the spiritual home of the Kiwi petrolhead. Throughout the decades, this track has seen action in all sorts of racing categories from Formula Ford to Formula 5000 to V8 Supercars. Nowadays the old girl is undoubtedly dated. The bleachers are barely fit to sit on, the pit building consists of a bit of scaffolding, and the "fences" don't do a great job of protecting the crowd. But man, the place has character in spades and there's history in every blemish on the track surface. The viewing around the track is outstanding - you can see everything from the grandstand, and a good three quarters from 'Ford Mountain'. The disregard for health and safety means you can get close to everything. Heck for the Bruce McLaren festival a couple years back I got into pit lane in jandals and started talking with car owners.
