They went on a tour of Muriwai Beach (one of Auckland's west coast black sand beaches) and Woodhill Forest. Roughly taking them on a two hour adventure the girls had an absolute blast! It costs about $75 dollars to do this horse trek (however prices range between $65 to $125), which for two hours I thought it was a lovely thing to be able to do once and a while. They recommend you come wearing long pants and closed footwear for the treks. I would also recommend a warm jumper as the girls went out in the afternoon and it was starting to get a bit chilly. Also books are essential. Whether it's for a big group or individuals, make sure you give the office a call and let them know you're interested before heading out.

I'm glad to have had my first horse riding experience with Muriwai Beach Horse Treks!…read more But before anything else. DIRECTIONS. Muriwai Beach Horse Trek is found at the bottom of Coast Road (Not Oaia Rd as Yelp pointed out to me, which is where the business operates from). So if you're going down for the horse trek, Straight down to the bottom of Coast road past the golf course, look for horses and the Muriwai Beach Horse Trek trailer! I signed up for a 2-hour trek on a Saturday morning, and weather was brill. Sun was out but also some clouds so we weren't burnt. To start off, the guides showed us how to mount the horse (making sure everything fits right wit the saddle and reins), and tell the horse to turn, go, and stop. And it's simple enough! The 2-hour trek started us out on the beach where you feel the sea breeze and gaze out into the Tasman Ocean, and then you're lead through some bush, dunes, forest, and open meadow/brook area. Personally wished that the beach segment was a bit longer! Difficulty was easy so its not a worry if you're scared you won't be able to handle it. The trek was rather silent... The guides didn't really point out much along the trek which I was a little disappointed with. I would have appreciated some tips and facts about horses/horse-riding. But I suppose the silence is nice when you're taking in all the sights and sounds of the ocean and cicadas. (Or the occasional horse doing their business.) The guides always wait up if the group (ours a party of 7) seems to be splitting due to some being a bit slower. And will always watch out, and alert if there's anything to be careful of. Overall an awesome experience being able to do an NZ beach by horse. Tips for the first timers: -If you're going in summer, and/or the sun just seems to be happy: Sunnies and Sunscreen. Especially the back of your neck and arms which will be hit the most. -Wear comfortable pants. singlet or t-shirt (depending on weather). You may want -Any closed toe shoes are good. I wore my chucks and they did the job. (Google research told me to wear slightly heeled boots.) -You won't need much for the ride. Maybe a camera. I used my camera phone. While it did the job. I was constantly paranoid that I might drop it. Kinda wished I had a camera neck strap. So if you have one, bring one. Although.... the horse ride is slightly bumpy so harness your photography skills!

The staff are friendly and expertly proficient in providing food and beverages. My children love this place. This is my first time here as we normally go to "Jump", an indoor trampoline facility just up the road. The best thing about Bounce and Beyond is that unlike "Jump" there is no time limit. Your kids can run them selves up and down the huge inflatable slides until they pass out! Bonus!!! ;-) Busy time is Saturday and this is shown on the website. If you're keen on a quiet day, you're best to avoid busy times here with the screams of delight emanating from the scores of delighted children and the thrum of the motorised fans keeping the inflatable apparati inflated. I'm here at peak time right now and it's nothing to worry about. Great place, with a great atmosphere. There are party facilities available for hire as well as free parking nearby. There is also a gladiator ring where two combatants (child or adult) can bash each other with padded jousts, trying to knock their opponent of their raised dais. A whole lot of fun, for a reasonable price, for as long as you like! What could be better at energy sapping for your little terrors, I mean angels? Nothing is better than this place in the whole of Gods green earth. Love, love and love!
