I've always been happy when ordering through the self-service kiosk. The portions were generous and I felt like I got great value for the price. So I've always skipped my breakfast to eat in the morning here everytime I fly out, This time, however, I ordered at the register because the self service kiosk wasn't working and ended up paying more for less food. In the past, when ordering side eggs and adding bacon, it came with the other items that were normally included. This time, I was only given eggs and bacon, despite paying for both a side eggs and a side bacon. That has never been my experience before. I'm giving 3 stars because my previous visits have always been good, but this experience was disappointing. This is the ONLY food option in the Alaska Airlines side of the airport (others under construction) so I came with low expectations just hoping to get something to eat before my flight left. New, clean, and modern inside (I was impressed). This is a Mexican restaurant and bar but I came for breakfast. You can order and pay for your meal with your phone or use a server. I ordered via a server and paid with my phone, which was nice because I didn't have to wait for anyone to bring me my bill. Vanilla latte was ok. They don't have a full espresso machine but rather one of those coffee machines that pre-makes a couple drinks. What really impressed me was the TRES LECHES FRENCH TOAST!!! My husband and I just tried Puerto the other weekend and we are so glad we did! First of all, we are so excited for a new restaurant opening up in the Alaska Airlines side of the airport! Second of all, the service was amazing! Best service we have EVER gotten at an airport restaurant. My husband got the Tres Leches French Toast which he said is one of the best French toasts he's ever had! I got the classic breakfast with bacon and it was great! Definitely looking forward to trying out the Mexican cuisine here next time! read more

I travel for work consistently in airports domestically and abroad. I've never been turned away for trying to seat myself at a restaurant bar when multiple seats were clearly available. There is a sign (also like many establishments in airports) that said "please wait to be seated" that usually applies when trying to get a table, never the bar. I wasn't a fan of the interaction I had with the female hostess as she addressed the line forming (one individual who was looking to sit somewhere in the restaurant other than the bar) and told me to go back and wait my turn. I initially left having a background in the food industry and knowing when I felt welcomed and when I do not as a customer. I returned shortly after only because this was the only place in the terminal unfortunately, otherwise I would not have taken my business back to them. read more

Walked up, the kitchen was dead. Kitchen staff insisted we had to wait for a waiter for table service, even though you can order to go orders directly from the kitchen, and we couldn't get a waiter to pay attention to us. Asked kitchen three times to make an exception and put a to go order on a plate so we could get some service, they refused. We ordered two orders of chilaquiles ($18) and one order of French toast ($17). The chilaquiles were made from bagged tortilla chips, and were very dry. Virtually no sauce. The French toast was small. The blond bartender was super nice. Kitchen and waitstaff was weird and unhelpful. A strange experience overall -- slow, confusing, subpar food -- that could be easily remedied with a small amount of effort. read more

TLDR: Food's tolerable, bartender was great, all other service sucks. I've been here twice so far. I fly pretty much every week, and almost always with Alaska, so this is it for food if I show up early and hungry. First time was breakfast. The Torta was ok, but more bread and unseasoned meat than anything else. Today, I was an hour early for boarding and starving. I sat at the bar and used their app to order. The bartender was great - absolutely no complaints there. After about 15 minutes, they brought out a quesadilla. Unfortunately, I'd ordered nachos. The bartender caught it (I'd told her what I'd ordered) and had them sent back. This is where things went sideways. The server was clearly offended, and felt the need to prove me wrong by bringing out a paper receipt, slapping it on the bar, and saying, "This is what you ordered.", then storming off before I could reply. Here's the thing. I know what I ordered. I watched my thumbs push the buttons. I also know that their ordering app is clunky, and appears to have been designed by the owner's junior high nephew, so I don't have a lot of faith in its accuracy. Fast forward 35 minutes, and the app has timed out, auto-charged my card (including 20% gratuity) I still have no food, and my flight is boarding. Wound up spending another $25 on beef jerky and hummus, but at least I finally ate. Hopefully that concourse expansion project gets done soon. Defiant won't be back. read more
