I shopped at this store for over 20 years. I was a loyal customer and rarely shopped anywhere else. I was always happy despite the slightly higher prices. I felt that the customer service and overall atmosphere of the store was well worth it. In the last year, however, the customer service has declined so much so that today I almost freaked out on an employee (almost, I didn't tho) I remember the day when you asked an employee to help you find something they would walk you over and actually help you find it. They were so friendly, they walked me over to find an item I could not find. Also, when we got to the check out they even offered to unload our cart, and take it to the car for us. I am compelled to complain about the deli at this Publix - which has the worst service of any grocery store deli I've ever used. This isn't based on a single experience, but many visits in which the employees at the deli move at a snail's pace and simply ignore customers who have to endure excessive wait times. I typically do my shopping on Sunday mornings when the store isn't even particularly busy, but it is not uncommon for me to wait 10-15 minutes for a pound of sliced meat. This morning, there was one person in front of me and I had to wait 15 minutes to get said pound of meat while half a dozen Publix employees milled around behind the counter doing nothing. This needs to be addressed. read more

Went to buy a wonderful sub and the guy working behind the counter looked miserable-Christopher- he was slow and now what I remember Publix to be like. It took him almost 15 minutes to make 3 subs. It also makes me upset when I have to ask a food worker to change gloves after they touch non food items like refrigerators drawers or when they walk away from what they are doing. This entire store, from the moment you walk in the door, and throughout the entire place, smells so bad of seafood. You should never be able to smell the seafood area, in fact if you can, you shouldn't buy it. That is what I've always been told. Can this establishment please get this smell under control. It's only getting worse. I even eat seafood but this is appalling. Aside from this, the staff is always friendly and nice but the one star is for this particular issue. Please correct it publix. It's no secret that I dig Publix, but the parking lot of this particular store is such a turn off that I rarely visit this location unless I have to. It's too small, cramped, and difficult to navigate during busy hours. The store is fine. The bakery is decent and the produce is nice. The restrooms are very clean. I typically go around 8pm-and there is no one in the store--it is so nice! Publix generic brands are sometimes better than name-brands Yes you'll pay a little more--but I sooooo don't mind--as long as I don't have to walk into a WalMart-I'd rather pay more knowing it's a better company and I'm getting better quality foods to eat. Which I am-you can easily find out about your fruits and veggies now. The WalMart brand of bananas comes in a bag full of gas--and once you open the bag-THE NEXT DAY--they start going brown Publix bananas don't come in a bag and you can get them organic as well as a slew of other items. Pros: Totally awesome deli. Maria always prepares my subs perfectly and the service in general is pretty awesome. Great variety. Absolutely great customer support and their return policy is flawless. It's great to not have to hunt for a receipt if I need to return something, which doesn't happen very often. Cons: The price is just a little high on some items, especially the produce since it's very rarely ripe. That said, much of it is out of season so I guess it's better to have it unripe than to not have it at all. Sometimes it seems like they should open more checkout lines, but they move pretty quickly. There's also ZERO local offerings... there's a lot of local farms around here with great produce and Publix could definitely be more involved locally to offer more locally grown produce that's in season and would actually be ripe. Overall: A really great place, we shop there all the time. Needs more lanes open. Needs to offer local produce. read more

I love Publix in general, but the deli at this one is SO S L O W! You need to have 20 minutes to stand, even if there is only one person in front of you. Save money and go FIRST to Save-A-Lot... then go to Publix - I learned the hard way and did the opposite - and realized later I could have easily saved over $50+ loading up on grocery's at Save-A-Lot first. for in idea - this is what I would have saved at Save-A-Lot - Helmans Mayo: Publix $5.99 (Save-A-Lot Same item and Same Brand $1.99) - Del Monte Pineapples: Publix: $2.99 (Save A Lot Same Item and Same Brand $1.99) - Can Tuna: Publix: $2.49 (Save A Lot Same Item and Same Brand $0.69) - Kale Salad Packages: Publix $2.49 (Save A Lot Same Item $1.50) So first - go to Save-A-Lot (which is across from the Publix)....then go to Publix. Publix has a larger selection than Save-A-Lot but Save-A-Lot has the exact same items Publix carry's....so go get your items at Save-A-Lot and then the things you didn't pick up there - then treck over across the road to Publix and spend your hard earned cash on the over priced Publix store. I like Publix...but it is no Whegmans (sp)?. it is no Loblaws (Canadians know what I mean), and it ain't no Whole Foods ... Publix is well......it is just over priced brand names.....so why not just save yourself some cash as Publix is not an out of the ordinary store worth spending more on grocery's for. So Daytona rule is: a) Go to Save-A-Lot first to pick up your grocery's b) Then go to Publix across the road to pick up Items that Save-A-Lot didn't have I promise you will save $'s shopping this way. I love this Publix. The employees are great and they know me by name. The store is always clean and neat. If you are looking for an item that is not shelved, they will order if for you and call you when it arrives at the store. If it is something they regularly stock and it is not on the shelves, just ask and they will run in the back and get it. The produce section is large and has a great variety of fresh fruits and veggies. The Fish market is always well stocked and the sushi is always freshly made and delicious. There is a large selection of Hispanic and Asian choices. If you like wine there is a large choice of wine selections or you can go right next door for a full liquor choice before or after you do your shopping. I love the gas card coupons that they offer about once a month you can get $50.00 worth of gas for $40.00. They also offer E-coupons on line. Go to their website and click on the weekly coupons and you don't have to carry them with you. They automatically deduct at the register. read more

The freshness of produce, bakery, and seafood is great and the sushi counter is beyond a dream. The deli is everything you can think of: dirty, slow moving, customers waiting for fried chicken are always overlooked and passed by while the meat cutters help other customers first. Yesterday the guy making my sub put the turkey ON my sub and then took it back off and placed it in the lettuce bin....Last week a young lady handing RAW chickens to hang them up into the rotisserie walked over to me and began to scoop out fried nuggets with the same gloves on her hands. I asked her please to wash her hands & she argued with me that her gloves were clean....Go figure? NEVER call in an order b/c they ALWAYS forget to have it ready. Don't complain to the manager, Mr Meister- he doesn't care. He can hardly say "Hello" to a customer. If you complain about anything he just nods head up & down like a bobble head. He is terrible at managing- most of the employees are wal-mart quality except for maybe 3-4 regular cashiers who know what's going on & have worked there a long time & one guy in the meat dept are good employees. But the store is mismanaged (esp the deli) and the manager is lucky to have a good job like that b/c he should really be in the burger king drive thru. read more
