Walked into Publix on Oakland Park Blvd and got exactly what i wanted out of a grocery run. Shelves stocked, aisles clean, and somehow the deli and bakery lines actually move like everyone has somewhere to be. A minor miracle in South Florida. Yes, the prices can feel like they're aiming for a higher tax bracket, but if you play the BOGO game right, you can walk out feeling like you beat the system. Today's win was Barilla pasta. Nothing fancy, just a solid "I'm eating carbs all week and I'm not mad about it" kind of victory. Only hiccup was the restroom situation. No paper towels. Not ideal. But to their credit, the customer service rep didn't shrug it off or disappear into the void. She said she'd get someone on it right away, and it actually felt like she meant it. At the location, you are constantly greeted by friendly employees and made to feel welcome. We can't forget about the pleasant ambiance of a Publix. This location is bright and cheerful. Publix also has pretty solid BOGO (but one, get one free) deals. I also have to add that no review of Publix would be complete without mentioning their subs (affectionately known as "Pub Subs"). One of the busiest parking lots for a Publix with cars parked in the fire zone causing a traffic jam. I eat dinner sometimes at the opposite end of the parking lot and always noticed the chaotic parking lot, so never shopped for groceries here before. Entered and its was very loud with people arguing, babies crying and commotion in a small area near the registers, just weird. I was impressed with the cooler full of a variety of energy drinks in perfect visual from the entry doors. Grabbed a cold Arizona Dragon Fruit iced tea for only .99 cents and left quickly. read more

I'll start with why I appreciate this Publix, it's close proximity to me and they have self checkout so it's an easy in and out. So let rewind. You can tell this is one of the older Publix. It's not big so options/varity are limited. When it comes to customer service I have mix reviews. I think the workers in the deli aren't attentive so if you have a question good look with get someone's attention. If I need assistance getting something off the top shelf in the aisle I can forget about it. I typically can't find someone to assist me. The workers who watch over the self checkout are lovely. If a price is wrong or if I have a question they are quick to assist. For some reason no matter what time of day I go there, the shelves are never stacked. Things are always empty. It's as if they only restock every other day. The only reason I come to this Publix is for convenience but other than that I'll choose various other locations within the area. read more

I went to the produce department (very clean) department and I was looking for green plantains. The plantains I found were small and almost ripe. I definitely needed 4 green plantains and I hated the fact that I would have to go to another grocery store. The employee (Shamar) who was working in that department approached me and said he will get me some plantains from the storage room. Shamar came back with a box full of large green plantains and made my day!!! Thanks to Shamar I didn't have to go to a different store. PUBLIX needs more employees like Shamar! Okay, as a vegan, I'm honestly super disappointed that every single time I get to this specific Publix (I can from different times on different days due to my work schedule), they tell me they don't have falafels to make the spicy falafel wrap yet can make all of the meat-based wraps...and I have been going to this Publix occasionally since this summer started. I worked in different types of restaurants; you're supposed to have everything available for all customers who come in, which should include those who do and don't eat meat so that you're able to satisfy every customer that comes in so they don't have a wasted trip coming to our location. So this Publix is telling me their staff who makes the wraps and sandwiches are too lazy to walk to aisle 6 and pick up some falafels to make one spicy falafel wrap for one guy on his lunch break, but not lazy enough to PASS AISLE 6 to use the bathroom. I'll be adding this store to my list of places to avoid. I had previously only been in here a couple of times on weekdays over the past 18 months and it's never that crowded. The clientele is mostly senior citizens, they strike me as people who live here year round, not snowbirds. I came in here around noon today to pick up some strawberries since the produce is usually gross at the Super Walmart I frequent. They were not any better here. There were TWO registers open at noon. Now this is peak time for the average older customer to be shopping here, so I have no idea why so few checkout lanes were available. The gentleman behind me in line was so irritated that he left his basket of 3 items and walked out. I find Publix to be on the expensive side. They do occasionally have some good deals of buy one get one free, but then you pay dearly for the other items. This store had a decent selection of easter candy, but $2.29 for a package of Peeps seems like a lot. On the plus side, they did have some interesting looking specialty products such as gluten free pre-made cookie dough, freshly made ethnic foods, cookie dough snack packs, a decent selection of refrigerated coffee drinks and gluten free pastas. Again, a lot of these items were costly. The wine section was fairly ample. They carry Funky Buddha brews too. The margarita mix here was $2 more than I had paid elsewhere. Convenient! Well merchandised. Excellent customer service. When in a hurry after work, I'm in and out quickly. It's a larger-sized store, but you wouldn't know it from the outside. This store in Sunrise stocks many of the products I usually buy to fill up our pantry and fridge, that I cannot find at the store closest to my house. The associates at the bakery always take care of us with a smile. The produce selection is good and they even point out sales throughout the store. Today there was a sale on Angel Soft and the associate stocking it pointed out how I could save more buying two. There's also ample parking in the large plaza they share with among others, Dollar Tree, Marco's Pizza, NY Bagel & Deli, GNC, a barber shop and a nail salon. read more

The employees here are extremely mean to an employee there named David because he is different (special needs) I was absolutely appalled at the lack of disrespect and rudeness they showed him. Publix is a good standard supermarket with fresh products. I love the Publix desserts and really want to try their famous and most raved about subs. This is my go to spot for food shopping when I don't feel like driving more than a mile. I gave this a 4 star because it's always busy. I know, I can't fault them for that and I know they're busy because they got good products. For me, grocery shopping in a busy environment is just stressful lol. My first job was at a busy supermarket and I worked there for five years so I may be a tad bit traumatized by supermarkets in general. Another good suggestion is, to put self check out stations and a 'scan - it' program. This allows customers to use a handheld scanner as they shop and scan/bag each item; when they get to the checkout station, it's just one click of a button at the kiosk and you pay and you're done. The supermarkets up north are doing that and I truly miss that process. This process makes shopping more enjoyable and quicker; it's also greener since you could bring your own reusable bags. I do like the one way parking lot rows; it's safer and less congested. Overall, it's a good market with friendly cashiers and baggers that offer to help you bring your bags to the car. In different dimensions I am known as Lord Gargamel. Anyway, I'm not here to gloat over Publix's vast array of cancer-causing GMO foods, nor their HFCS laden diabetes bombs masked as sodas. What I am going to gloat over is their fried chicken. Now I'm no fried chicken fiend, but the aroma of this heavenly southern artery clogger attracted me like the blue waters of Bora Bora. I ended up buying the chicken for about 60% of the original price because it was late in the afternoon. Jesus, it was good! Crispy skin, juicy insides, and deliciously spiced. This Publix is nowhere near where I live but guess what, I don't see any Walmart-mobiles, NorthWest-Dade residents, and the place is spotless a true suburban supermarket. read more

What has happened to this place? The deli has always been a nightmare but now the rest of the store is just as bad. I accepted Publix's higher prices for cashier checkout services. Now they have added self checkout stations and keep cashier stations to a minimum. If I have to use self checkout I will shop at places with cheaper prices. read more

Standard Publix, deli and subs are great here. The staff is friendly. just know that the fried chicken sells out quickly here so don't wait until last minute! It's across from a 24 hour fitness so you'll see a lot of gym goers in here in the evening , as well as families with kids after school. There are usually lines since it's a busy spot but they always move quickly when I'm here. There's dollar store beside it along with a long strip of stores ,a bank and a restaurant at the far end. On Thursday, March 12, my husband and I bought chicken tender subs for dinner at the Welleby Plaza Publix in Sunrise Florida Florida.   Later that night , after eating the subs, we started feeling unwell. Our stomachs have been upset and we both stayed home from work today.   We will not be going back to that Publix. We have had the chicken tender sub from other Publix stores in the past with no problems, until last night. I sincerely hope that the Welleby Plaza Publix will be checked out after this. Because we had to stay home after being sickened by the subs from the Welleby Plaza Publix, we are each losing a day's pay, which is absolutely unacceptable. I have emailed corporate and I hope Publix will investigate and do right by us . read more

I spent years in the food service industry and this level of service would have never flown. I understand the subs are only five or six dollars, and that sub making is not their main service. I must disagree with the previous review that this location is small. There is much smaller layout in Miami Beach. I promise! I like the layout of this Publix. It's never crowded and the produce section is neatly organized. I also noticed that they have a flower gift wrapping area. That I have not even seen in bigger Publix locations yet. I'm normally a fan of Publix, although they aren't in Seattle and San Diego (where I've lived the past 7 years). I don't know if this one annoyed me because it was busy, small or what; regardless, I'm not a fan of going back. Limited produce section, insanely slow deli area and tiny wine selection makes this a low grade grocery store in my opinion. I think I've become spoiled by Whole Foods and Trader Joe's on the West Coast. Needs a better entry area, it gets too congested with only a few people as there is little room to navigate upon entering and tons of pop up stands that no one uses. Worst Publix staff in the chain. You have to go research your own products when register price is different than aisle signage. Cashier and bag boy just stand there. I go to this publix just about everyday for my shopping needs. For the most part I find the people that work there very cordial and attentive. The Weak link there is in the Deli area. There is usually only one person making sandwiches for people that come in. Sometimes theres a long line of 15 people or more and they will not stop making the online orders to help the one who is making the sandwiches and trying their best to alleviate the Back up. They have been short handed for weeks and once it hits four or five o'clock you will not see a Supervisor or assistant Supervisor after that time until the next day. There should be a Supervisor there on duty for every shift and until closing to help out and run things. That dept is in Chaos most of the time and and not servicing customers as they should be. A sandwich should not take 45 mins to make or Get. Honorable mention to Sybil Maddelein Epiphany and Sharon for being hard workers and out front while the Supervisors are no where to be seen. read more

This is MY neighborhood Publix. I always enjoy going here. Everyone from John, the store manager, to Valentina, a cashier, are absolutely amazing. I also coupon here so they are familiar with me and work with me on my bulk orders. Publix is quite amazing and permits the use of 8 like coupons per transaction. I also appreciate their no hassle return or exchange policy and the Publix Promise. If something rings up a different price than listed, then it's free! Smaller then the usual Publix with not enough parking and a ton of elderly people, I only come here when I have to. If you have to use this Publix be sure to watch your ankles and toes as these elderly drive the carts like they do their cars hitting anything and everything in their path. read more
