    Rotting lettuce!

Just when I thought the produce couldn't get any worse. See photo. When I pointed out the rotting lettuce to the workers in the produce section, I got a dirty look like I was the problem.

My go-to sub is probably their Italian sub, which is truly a tasty offering.

Once inside, you will see that Aldi has a fantastic selection of food, including fresh fruits and vegetables, tasty and fresh platters, and fresh and delicious dairy products. I am not a fan of the packaging for their meats here, and I think this is because it doesn't display the contents of the packaging (the meat) very well. This is really just a small complaint though. Aldi has a wide array of non name brand products that are absolutely delicious and very affordable, and Aldi also sells some name brand products that are competitively priced. They have a small section of other items that you can purchase, such as bed sheets and dog toys, but the selection is always changing it seems, so it's more of a fun bonus exciting area of the store to shop during your visit to Aldi. The ambience at Aldi is very inviting. They have a very clean and pleasant store and their bathroom is always very clean. I believe they only have the one person bathrooms though. The service at Aldi is always fast and friendly. They don't offer free grocery bags at Aldi but you can opt to buy a reusable bag, or you can bring your own bags from home (we keep our bags in the trunk of our car) and then you can then stop off at their side counter, after you are checked out, to fill your grocery bags yourself. This system is in place to help Aldi keep their prices extremely low and competitive for their customers. I would definitely recommend shopping at Aldi!

Aldi's shares a tie to Trader Joe's. The abbreviated history is that Aldi's and Trader Joe's were…read moreowned by German brother's who fell out over whether or not to sell cigarettes. In 1962, they introduced the name Aldi, short for Albrecht-Diskont, which translates into English as Albrecht Discount. The company split into Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord, which operate thousands of stores in Europe, the United Kingdom and Australia. Aldi Süd controls the U.S. chain of Aldi stores while Aldi Nord operates in the U.S. as Trader Joe's. ALDI opened its first U.S. store in Iowa in 1976 and now has more than 2,200 stores and is headquartered in Batavia, Illinois. While Trader Joe's has great prices, Aldi will beat them and just about everyone else's prices every time. You can still signs of that German heritage all over Aldi's like in their German line of products called Deutsche Kuche, which offers offers beer, chocolate, roasted coffee, and uncured Bavarian bratwurst. If you want to save money on groceries Aldi's is a great way to do it. In order to bring you those low prices Aldi's has instituted some cost cutting measures. If you want a cart you will need to bring a quarter and to get your money back you need to return your cart from the parking lot back to the store saving employees from having to collect the carts. You will also have to bring your own bags or pay for theirs. Sometimes I'll just grab some of their empty boxes. Lines used to be long in store because they keep their staff to a bare bones minimum but since they added self checkout I rarely wait in line anymore. I just wish that when you have a markdown you didn't an employee to enter it in for you. I had to pop in to grab a few things on a recent trip to Rockledge. This store has been open since 2010 but they were remodeled in 2019. Compared to the stores where I live in Broward County, this one still looks new. The store was spotless and stocked. Even the aisle of shame was well organized. Once you start seeing how much you can save with Aldi's, it makes it hard to shop anywhere else.

The long-awaited Whole Foods has finally opened in Brevard, right here in Viera...and it does not…read moredisappoint. I've always loved Whole Foods for their unique, high-quality offerings, but never had one close enough to shop regularly. So naturally, we were excited to check it out. And let me tell you: you don't just come here to shop, you come for the experience. First off, the store is absolutely stunning. It's modern, spotless, inviting, and beautifully designed. The produce section alone is worth the trip. They offer varieties of fruits and vegetables you won't find anywhere else, like the orange cauliflower we picked up, which is sweeter and more flavorful than the traditional white. From there, you walk straight into a gorgeous seafood selection, with plenty of fresh options displayed beautifully. One thing that genuinely surprised me is the pricing. Whole Foods has a reputation for being expensive, but many of their everyday items are very reasonably priced. Yes, some specialty products run higher, but for regular shopping..especially if you have dietary preferences or restrictions like gluten-free, vegan, or organic they have a great range of options. My favorite part of the entire store is the hot food area and bakery. The bakery features a decadent cookie display where you can mix and match gourmet cookies sold by weight. They have all types of freshly baked breads and pastries. The prepared food section includes sushi/poke, pizza, an olive bar, and several other prepared options including the hot bar. We arrived close to closing, so not everything was out, but I've heard amazing things about their hot bar and can't wait to return and try it when everything is fresh. The amazing cheese section is an important mention as well as the huge wine and beer selection. I also highly encourage you smell their soap bars. Looking for a thoughtful gift? They have it all. Another highlight was the staff. Every person we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely eager to help. It adds so much to the overall experience and really contributes to that elevated, community-oriented feel. Checkout is easy, with both self-checkout and traditional registers. The entire visit feels upscale and thoughtfully curated, much like the products themselves. If you enjoy cooking with high-quality ingredients and prefer to avoid overly processed foods, you'll absolutely love this new Whole Foods. Welcome to Viera, Whole Foods. You were worth the wait.
