I have visited this branch one time and will definitely be returning. The public library holds a place in my heart from childhood particularly when I could travel to the library. The Fernandina Branch was quiet, clean, with a nice selection of books. I took out an autobiography of the former cartoon editor of the New Yorker magazine. Funny, interesting tale of his life and work. I always look to see if the library offers events with guest speakers, entertainment and learning experiences. Bingo! The library has exhibition space which currently has posters from White Oak, an art lecture series and Black History month events. Definitely going back and finding more food for the mind. See you there.

Entry to Fernandina Public Library soon to double in size!

But I've also used the library services to print and make copies. As the library is one of the cheapest options. You can log into a computer using your library card and access your email to print documents. On this visit, I needed 60 copies for an upcoming meeting. I stopped by the front desk first and I'm so glad I did because the copying process had changed. Chris was so helpful and sweet. She came from behind the desk, walked me to the self service machine where you she assisted me with checking my balance and adding additional funds to my account. You can now use your debit or credit card instead of cash. But cash is still an option. Then she walked me to the copy machine and showed me how to log in. She suggested I print a few copies first to make sure they looked good. Again, she was such a help, because there was a line going down the page that was not on my original copy. She cleaned off the glass and suggested I use that option instead of the manual feed. Voila, the line was gone. If you're looking for a book or need to use the library services, I highly recommend the Pablo Creek location.

Me and a few other friends came down because she was scared she was going to get harmed. We helped her report it and the man got off with nothing more than a warning. It has books (of course), cds, dvds, magazines, computers for research and internet, free wifi, a lovely children section, a meeting room, clean bathrooms, and an elevator. Thanks to the inter-library loan system (brilliant!) you can order any book in the county and have it delivered to your branch for you to pick up (and drop off). In other words, if they don't have it, they should be able to get it for you! The parking lot is small (and on Wednesday nights, full of people attending the church across Cherry Street (grr)) but you can park on Cherry Street and near the ball park without a problem. Plenty of bike space for those who want to ride here.

However, every time I am In front of one particular senior librarian ( I will not name her name because I like that could incite bullying) she is demeaning and crotchety. She makes the checkout process feel rushed if there's just one person behind you and got forbid you return your books in the outside book return. Her presence in the library has me choosing to go four times further to the Camden Library just because they are nicer there. It's really unfortunate but I really hope that she or her supervisor checks her attitude because I know I can't be the only one on the receiving end of it.

I decided to just go in and ask as the GPS in this area sucks! So I proceeded to ask where the post office was and then was told they close at 4:30... Is that everywhere?? I also needed to print off a rebate for my contact lenses I got a while back before it expired so I was able to get a pass to use the computers, no need for a library card unless you borrow any books. It cost 25 cents per page but so worth it if I'm gaining more in my rebate! They've got a pretty decent parking lot. The facility is clean and right by a water park and a playground but there were no swings. The library inside was a decent size. Very quiet and empty but what did you expect!

I have tried to do the same as an adult. This library branch is about a twenty minute drive from my home so I usually go about once a month. Parking has never been a problem. The building looks a little older but they always have plenty of books to check out and read. There is a section up front with staff recommendations as well as a section called Lucky Day with popular books you can only check out for one week. I have used both of those sections in the past. They also have a bookstore near the entrance to the library that sells used books that have been donated. This is a great idea and service. The library also offers various reading, speaker, music, crafts, and other programs throughout the month.
