I had to go to court yesterday. I parked in the parking garage that I parked for years when I…read moreworked downtown. Easy peasey. I walked a block to the courthouse and scanned in by the Officers. I went to the Jury room and was told to sit down and wait for the check in process. Finally we were told to line up, check in with the lady and then proceed to a check in kiosk. There was an employee at each kiosk to assist. Perfect! I was glad she was there to help me. My name did not show up. So, we used my case number and did an easy check in. Then we all waited for the instructions. The young lady speaking over a microphone was so soft spoken and did not enunciate her words properly-no one hear her! But, then I heard my name-I went up to her desk and my Lawyer was already up there. He had taken care of everything and I was excused. I don't know if I have to rerun or not. I will be notified if I have another date set or not. I'm Pros:very organized and plenty of Police and Bailiffs to help. Things moved pretty fast. Cons: they need to have someone who can speak louder when calling the names of the people. They state they will only call your name once. If you don't hear her, you're screwed! So SPEAK IP! Listen well. Ignore all of the chatter around you. Recommend:this place is necessary for all legal purposes. Fact: this courthouse is very nice, but huge! It takes up two or more city blocks.

It is the sixth-most populous county in Florida after Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough and Orange. Jacksonville has been the county seat ever since. The present courthouse was completed in 2012, replacing the now demolished 1958 courthouse. The building faces south and is a seven story concrete, steel and glass structure. The south front has a projecting two story center section with columns rising to a pediment. It is a massive structure that contains 51 courtrooms which includes the County Circuit Court of the 4th Judicial District and County Court. The massive size definitely projects the power of the judiciary in Northeast Florida. There is street parking around the area, both metered and paid lots. I have been to many court houses in many cities and states and I love the small town court houses…read more The people that work there are generally friendly and they are not full of riffraff and people in leg irons. This particular courthouse has some age on it so there's a lot of nice woodwork and the court rooms have that old courthouse feel to them which is pleasant. I had the opportunity to need to visit the family law clerk which I did and she was ever so helpful. She had my paper filed and beautiful online within a few minutes which is unheard of. Keep in mind when filing papers that this particular courthouse doesn't want to take signatures by e-filing even though the statute requires it so you have to mail anything that is a notarized signature and then they file it so sometimes it's easier just to drive down there and give it to the clerk. All in all, nice people, nice facilities, and a thoroughly pleasant experience start to finish.

Nothing to complain about here. Its a court house... Gaining entry was relatively easy. Of course i…read morehad a a badge but seems pretty safe and secure. Its not really a big place but it looks large. I think 5 court rooms. My civil hearing was set at 2:30 and the bailiff called us in at exactly 2:30. Judge Rosier was very nice and personable. She kept asking about my job rather than the case. I guess she was interested in my dogs. My hearing was done in about 20 - 25 minutes. And out of that, 10 minutes was just BS talking.

Me and a few other friends came down because she was scared she was going to get harmed. We helped her report it and the man got off with nothing more than a warning. He was allowed to stay and continue using the computers while me and my friend were stuck here. (I had to wait for her mom with her in fear of her safety.) I've been going to this library for 5-6 years now and I doubt ill be coming back. This is unacceptable and disgusting. This all happened halloween of 2025 between around 2:15 and 5.

It has books (of course), cds, dvds, magazines, computers for research and internet, free wifi, a lovely children section, a meeting room, clean bathrooms, and an elevator. Thanks to the inter-library loan system (brilliant!) you can order any book in the county and have it delivered to your branch for you to pick up (and drop off). In other words, if they don't have it, they should be able to get it for you! The parking lot is small (and on Wednesday nights, full of people attending the church across Cherry Street (grr)) but you can park on Cherry Street and near the ball park without a problem. Plenty of bike space for those who want to ride here.

It's hard to miss this magnificent building that dominates the center of downtown Fernandina Beach…read more Three stories tall and looking regal, it is currently the post office though the courthouse functions have moved elsewhere. The marker reads, "Dedicated in 1912, this Italian Renaissance Revival building was designed under the direction of Treasury Department architect James Knox Taylor. The interior was custom built to accommodate the building's three original functions as a United States customs house, courthouse, and post office. The building features a symmetrical facade, uniformly-arched windows and doors with terracotta accents, second floor windows with gabled pediments, decorative balustrades, and small square windows on the top floor. Brick walls faced with stucco rise from a granite base three stories to a tiled, hipped roof with widely extending eaves supported by decorative brackets. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida met here until the creation of the Middle District in 1962. The building was then used by the Middle District until divisional judicial functions were consolidated in Jacksonville. The building is a notable feature of the city's urban landscape, and is the second tallest structure, exceeded only by the Nassau County Courthouse's clock tower. In 1973, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing resource in the Fernandina Beach Historic District." The marker was erected in 2017 by the Princess Amelia Chapter, National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, and the Florida Department of State. It is marker number F-931. I did not go inside today - post offices tend to frown on exercising the Second Amendment. [Review 19324 overall - 1670 in Florida - 294 of 2023.]
