Well, thank God for Lana. I don't often think this thought DURING personal training sessions (then it's usually "DEAR GOD HELP ME!") but, when I look in my mirror smudged with baby fingerprints and my reflection makes me feel like ME, and my jeans fit better...it's "thank God for Lana." Seriously. Now, don't get me wrong -- this has not been an easy road and Lana is not one to let you off the hook. EVER. This is just what I needed. Funnily enough -- I found Lana via her car. She lives near me and her car is like a billboard for her personal training sessions. After a pretty crap experience with a VERY expensive personal trainer, I was looking to continue getting back into my own skin, but NOT with him. I ran into the car while walking my dog and finally made the call for a free consultation. At this consultation she was very frank with me: "This is going to be very difficult for you. You are not in good shape." 6 weeks after having a baby via c-section and a harrowing pregnancy that left me lacking muscle mass and heavier than I'd ever been in my life, I knew she was right and was ready to go. I told you, she gets right to the point! And many times after that -- anytime I'd fall off track a bit, she'd size me up and get right to it. Amen, this is exactly what I need. I'm great at rationalizing, wearing bigger clothes and otherwise just ignoring the fact that I stopped trying so hard. She calls me out on it and we get back to business. Progress, not perfection. It took me 32 years to figure this out and I'm happier with my body now than I was BEFORE I was pregnant. I'm stronger, fitter and happier. Lana was a big part of that. She never let me quit. And here I am today! A regular non-pregnant person with a normal body back in working order! I mainly did all of my training outdoors in Shoreditch Park -- she also trains outdoors (spring/summer/fall) at Clissold and indoors at both Clissold Leisure Centre and Britannia Leisure Centre. She only trains Monday-Friday, as she has kids and spends the weekends with them. I started with 10 sessions so got a bit of a price break (I think around £45/session) and then went all in the last go 'round and bought 20 sessions which brings the price down to about £40/session. It's worth every p. I wouldn't say I LOVE going always, but I ALWAYS get there and always feel great afterwards. She pushes without being crazy, and she genuinely cares about her clients. She takes a holistic approach, going over your diet, taking your measurements, and otherwise keeping tabs on all the factors going into your shape and fitness. If you are looking to get your ass kicked a bit and to be kept accountable, Lana is your woman. I can't sing her praises loudly enough. I credit her with keeping me focused and I'm planning on continuing for a very long time to make sure I have someone honest that will keep me in check and burn a load of calories off me 2x/week. read more
