I had an extremely negative experience with this individual…read more This guy got his degrees way back in 1970's. His interest according to some of his publications seems to be evaluating sexual behavior in boys, but I did not know that at the time I went in. He gave me several psychometric test (which looked like they were from the 1960's) which I did not ask for, and then failed to give me a specific diagnosis on a condition that I know I have. During the interview phase, his bedside manner left me cold; he made inferences without listening, he repeated outdated questions without actually digging to find the answer, he seemed impatient and generally had a disdainful manner which was irritating from the beginning. It also soon became clear he had no knowledge of recent breakthroughs in my condition or what the signs and symptoms were for it. During our *last* meeting he say he did NOT believe women got the condition I came in to be evaluated for. This was an appalling and shocking admission since I had already spent hours taking testing and answering inane questions. IMO, he is neither current nor knowledgeable on common diagnosis. I got no diagnosis, but he still sent me a bill for $400. I will never go back to him and don't recommend him for anyone else. I'm still deciding whether I should file a complaint against him with the state. When people are vulnerable and go to an incompetent psychologist it is far more traumatizing than not going to one at all.

The prior reviewer talks like an addict...in denial. My husband is a patient of John Evans. John…read moredoes not talk to bull shit, and if you bull shit him he knows it and he will drop you as a patient. If you are a prominent person in the community, then you should know better. In defense of John Evans, I will say I attend occasional visits with my husband just to help fill in the information gaps and that is it. A boyfriend is not the same as a spouse, and it is important that the patient can talk freely. That cannot always happen when you take along a friend. Don't slam a medical professional based on your limited experience with them. It is very professional to require a drug test!

When I first found this office I was happy knowing that I had finally found the answer to all of my…read morehealth questions, although I'm very sad to say that my opinion was quickly altered. When my boyfriend and I arrived, we were greeted by the slightly annoyed front desk staff. We continued to wait around 30 minutes before I was called back. As soon as I sat down in the room the nurse started taking my blood pressure etc. and then proceeded to tell me that "Dr. Evans" requires his patients to take a drug test...I was extremely thrown off by this but complied. Once I was finished the Doctor came into the room and the first thing he said (before even introducing himself) was "who is this? Your boyfriend? Are you sure you want him here? We are going to be talking about personal things." Well yes of course we will be talking about personal things but who I choose to have with me is none of your business. Then he begins to take off the drug test results and mine came up positive for cannabis. I AM NOT AN AVID USER, I am a responsible adult who had a puff at the beginning of the month. Anyways, I was denied any healthcare because I tested positive. Since I found it (the pee test) a serious breach of privacy, I MADE SURE I knew that these results were to remain private. Dr. Evans then proceeded to tell me that my privacy is very important to him, blah blah blah, and that he only takes these tests for his own knowledge. Sure enough, about 2 months later I got a letter from my insurance company saying that they needed to investigate my visit with this office. FRUSTERATED, I called my insurance company and they said that Dr. Evans had submitted a claim for $275 and ALSO stated that I was a CANNABIS ABUSER WITH ATTENTION DEFICIET DISORDER. Excuse me? First off, after testing positive he wouldn't help me anymore and couldn't have diagnosed me with ADD in the whole 10 minutes he saw me. In fact, the whole 10 minutes he saw me he was too busy talking about himself and how he was the top 1% in the United States. I've been to many specialists before (Charlotte, Indianapolis, and Durham) and HE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO HAVING THE ATTITUDE AND KNOWLEDGE a true doctor has. Really, I've never in my life had my "life choices" compared to Michael Jackson and Celine Dion, how humiliating. To conclude my TERRIBLE review, don't give this man your time. Even when I tried having this issue taken care of, the front desk staff had said that someone would call me ASAP...of course no phone call. This man just looks untrustworthy and gives me a bad feeling. I know I've found a good doctor when I leave their office feeling relief and glad that I'm once step closer to feeling normal again, although this "doctor" gives me nothing but a bad taste in my mouth. As a prominent member in the Kennewick/Richland community, I will make sure that this experience is noted for future potential customers so they don't have to endure the humiliation and time lost that I had with INTERNAL MEDICINE ASSOCIATES OF RICHLAND: DR. JOHN EVANS ARNP.
