A small, yet abundantly powerful stage showcases performing acts in vulnerable ways. It's hard to believe bands like the White Stripes, Soundgarden and Mastodon played here in yesteryear. Standing room only is essential and Club Downunder delivers on that front, but if you're looking to take a breather on a couch be prepared to have your line of sight blocked (ground floor or the balcony). A minimal bar has rather cheap beer for the most part. Crack open a PBR tallboy and enjoy the show \m/ There's really nothing to bash here. For an on-campus hangout, Club Downunder is as cool as it's going to get.

The sound was good, not sure if that was due to the venue or the bands themselves. Beer & wine at the bar, and there's a Chili's next door where you can get real drinks or have a nosh before the show (we did). Parking is in a garage about a block away. Good place to see a band or two.

Yes, I was the only black lady but felt comfortable. Good music knows no color. Just good vibes. We loved it! Definitely a mature crowd, probably based on the music. Many VFW regulars are older, so this is just a very casual spot. Jeans, shorts. 15 min in between acts. Drinks are $7 for beer or cocktail. Not bad, in par with Fort Lauderdale casino. A great event that highlights the diversity, both culinarily and culturally, of Tallahassee!…read more The Tallahassee Jewish Food & Culture brings together the entire community to enjoy a morning of great food and company! Seriously, the food is wonderful and I have enjoyed the festival over the last couple years with the best of friends. I'm a huge fan of the potato knishes and falafel, but the kugel has a special place in my heart too. The food portion of the festival is found inside, separated into two halls, Bakery/Desserts and Main Dishes. Queue up in the Main Dishes hall first, as food goes fast and you wouldn't want to miss out. It can be a bit chaotic with so many people, so you should always ask it you get turned around and don't know where to go. People are happy to help! I usually want to try a bit of everything, so it's best to divide and conquer with all the lines. Once you're set, don't forget to grab a dessert or two in the Bakery hall and then find a table. There is setting in the inner courtyard or outside under the tents. You have the added bonus of the music outside, just FYI. Finally, after all the feasting is done, take the time to wander and take in the craft booths and other cultural aspects of the festival. It's a great time and I look forward to it every year!

Yes there was delicious food and drink, live music, art and craft vendors, face painting and sooo much more. But this review is about the overall experience from the "people" aspect of it. I'm proud to have attended an "open to all" public gathering that brings people together in such a peaceful, joyful and respectful way. I struck up conversations with several co-attendees and a couple of event staffers who were quick to give food recommendations and had fun stories to share! Thank you to the Jewish Temple staff for such a wonderful fun event, for bringing people together in a positive and fun environment and of course for the smorgasbord of great food! A special shout out to fellow Yelpers who attended! Great seeing everyone!!!

This was my first time at the North Florida Fair and it was a fun experience for the whole family…read more There was something for everyone to enjoy, from rides to games and a variety of food options. The selection of rides was impressive, and my kids had a blast, especially with the classics like the Ferris wheel and bumper cars. The fairgrounds were well-organized, and clean. The food was typical fair fare--corn dogs, turkey legs, funnel cakes, popcorn, and fried everything! While the prices were a bit high, it's part of the fair experience, and we enjoyed trying a little bit of everything. One highlight was the livestock exhibits, which offered a nice break from the excitement of the midway. My kids loved seeing the animals up close and learning a bit about them. Be sure to bring some cash for the games and food as some vendors charge a fee for using a credit card no matter the amount spent. Plan ahead and look at the tickets/rides specials online. Will definitely visit again next year.

People were buying crafts, home made soaps, jams, jellies, art, jewelry, and of course the commercialized items. The food vendors were out in force and who could forget the Florida Lottery booth. We weren't sure if it was dog friendly but we felt that it wouldn't be easy for us to pick persimmons while holding on to the two pups. It was a beautiful fall day in Monticello, FL and we were excited to pick from the last batch of persimmons of the season. They provide buckets and pickers to help with picking the fruit. At the time of our visit in 2022: the fruit was $2.25 per lb - cash or check only. Per the website, it is now $2.50 per lb - really great in this economy. Whether you're a Persimmon enthusiast or just looking for something fun to do in the fall season, definitely recommend making the drive over to Monticello for Perfect Persimmons!

A wonderful venue to enjoy musical performances!…read more I have attended a couple concerts of the Tallahassee Winds here at the Opperman Music Hall (thank you Bret I. and Ben K. for sharing your musical talents with us!) and absolutely love the venue. It's the perfect size, offering a more intimate experience while still providing a beautiful sound and sufficient seating for the audience. Many orchestras and musical groups from FSU and Tallahassee host concerts here, so there are wide variety of different concerts to attend here at any given time. But as with all music venues on the FSU campus, it is a gorgeous space to listen to music and you should make it a priority to attend a concert here!

Last evening, went to see the Sons of Mystro (violinists) Holiday Show. Absolutely love the ambiance of the auditorium; more of an intimate setting (compared to Ruby Diamond) for concerts with a max seating capacity of a little over 400; excellent acoustics; the lighting and sound staff always do a great job! Of note, the performers are clearly energetic and repeatedly requested the audience stand up, join in the fun, dance, and jump! Though the seating is comfortable and there is ample leg space, I wouldn't recommend doing a lot of "jumping" and dancing in the seating areas! :o) The only slight drawback of attending performances in this building is the campus location/parking issue. Sometimes, parks may be available behind the building, which is great. But, for the most part, parking is always accessible in the parking garage down the street. I don't mind walking at all, even in heels. But, I dread if I have to walk that bit of distance when it is pouring down rain! Fortunately, have yet to deal with that problem! :o) Also, not a fan of walking back to a garage at night, especially if I happen to be alone.
