I also used to take yoga classes sometimes in Burbank with Jamie and she would incorporate sound healing into the class which was really nice. Jamie is a consummate professional. Always kind, always on time (hauling all that equipment back-and-forth!), very educational about the healing applications of sound. She does a good job of getting people set up properly to have a good experience. I believe that the purpose of a sound bath is to train your brain and psyche into a state of peaceful neutrality. Some people get a bit of a high from it. Either way, It's a beautiful experience to share with other people and I've witnessed a lot of people get positive benefits out of it. I haven't taken any sound healing training sessions with Jamie but having known her for over 14 years I'm sure that she makes them very informative and fun.

So, I arrived even earlier than the recommended 15 minutes. And what I came to find is a very intentional, organized operation. Plastic boxes are provided at check-in, for your shoes and belongings that you place into a cubby. The room is mindfully and beautifully designed, clean, and orderly. They don't pack in as many people as they can to get their money's worth. And there were mats, pillows, eye masks, and crystals set up for a total of 8 people. The two owners work as a team, and begin with a brief "what to expect" and Q&A session. Then, for the theta class, they warm you up with a little partners rainstick exercise standing up (nothing too awkward)... then everyone lays back and gets situated, takes some deep breaths, and is transported by a magical medley of drums, synth speakers, singing bowls and gongs. If you've ever had acupuncture and sort of been in that blissful in-between state of delicious sleep and slight wakefulness... that was my experience. While I understand that some might be peeved about the strict no latecomers policy, anyone who actually has experienced this sound bath would probably understand why they run such a tight ship. Besides, punctuality is a nice way to enter into this (and any) intentional journey. Also... grow up! :) Would happily do it again!

I went to Kathryn on a strong recommendation and as promised, she changed everything about my body. Especially my relationship to my body, which I was worried was breaking down and never going to heal. After decades of acupuncture, massage and sacral-cranial work, all of which helped temporarily, Kathryn's 10 session Rolfing series has done wonders. And I'm not even finished. She is so educated, patient, gentle, fun, and clearly loves to teach and help people. She also gives helpful advice about walking, sitting, using my muscles in ways that help support my alignment. Rolfing itself isn't always a pleasant experience (my own sensitive areas include my calves, shins, and ankles), but Kathyrn will always do her best to make you as comfortable as possible. At our first appointment, she pointed out that a lot of my symptoms indicated I might have a gluten allergy, and after one month of going gluten-free, I actually feel remarkably better (more energetic, less joint pain and overall tenderness) and I've gone for the first month of my adult life without a migraine. But while initially I was receiving appropriate response, at a certain point Kristin stopped responding to text chain she had started. While I completely respect busy schedules, if one truly is a healer and of a compassionate mind-set (and not simply in this for the $$), a compassionate response such as, "Hi, just super busy, but I hope to see you there tonight" after I'd paid the Vemmo and the appropriate follow up email I was promised would have been both the compassionate and professional response. (Or: I am not seeing your payment, can you send the confirmation? Or: I'm sorry, the event shows it's full; I apologize that there is no longer room). ANY communication back would have been better to dropped communication. So it seems that Kristin is communicative up to a certain point but if you require help with payment or follow up to attend, you might find yourself stranded as we were.

I also asked for a price for herbs, which he replied with the price. I sent him the money, then he said me he would not send me the herbs, as I don't need it. I was so confused. I asked for a refund, but got no reply for days. I told him I'll use that towards yoga classes, then, since he wouldn't respond. He also told me he would call me often for support as part of a consultation package that I paid for, but he would rarely answer my texts or calls, as it seemed, he was trying to take on as many clients as he could. I also heard him speaking about struggles in my life to a yoga class, in a gossiping manor, where he was making fun of me & laughing. He also did not mention that students would be shadowing him, so when I had my initial consultation on Zoom, and I kept noticing his eyes go somewhere, I figured it out on my own, and then he revealed it towards the end of the zoom. That should definitely be revealed before any consultation is taking place. Overall, I did get help for some things I needed, but there was a lot of horrible communication & customer service.
