A Hidden Gem in Callaway Gardens This may seem like just an…read moreold structure on the left side of the road as you drive toward the Cecil B Day Butterfly Center in the heart of Callaway Gardens. It is an old pioneer log cabin from the 1800s. There is parking on both sides of the street. It is an easy walk and it sits right at the entrance to a short but pretty trail through the woods. The cabin is a one-room affair with an open door on the front and the back. There is a scavenger hunt paper on a table on the front porch. There are signs in various places in the cabin that have the answers to the hunt. The signage on both sides of the room explains how people lived in the pioneer times. 1 side of the cabin has the sleeping area and explains what their daily lives were about. The other side of the cabin featured the fireplace and kitchen area, with examples of the various foods and implements they used. There were no lights in the room but the natural light coming through the window allowed plenty of light to read the signs and see the various items in the cabin. I thought it was a great display and explanation of how people lived over 2 centuries ago.

Friday, Saturday they have live music and Thursday is comedy night. The stairs are really cool. They charge $5 for music. The service was a little slow but overall the bartenders were really nice. I found it to be really loud. They do have a place outside for smokers or people that want to eat outside, but not sure about service there. The Thursday comedy night was also really loud. I found this place a good option for older than college age adults. Worth a visit

I had the portobello wrap and it was super good too with lots of goat cheese, spinach, and big pieces of mushroom; My side was the macaroni which was ooey gooey cheesy. Boyfriend had the pimento cheeseburger-- he was speechless and wants to learn to make the onion jam it had; his side of fries were spectacular too they seemed double fried/crunchy outside and soft middle. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake which was very hot but amazing! Thanks for having us, The Loft.
