Tried to visit the museum on Sunday morning (02/09/2025) but they turned me away because I parked my RV in the very back of their parking lot. There were about a dozen cars in a lot that's holds 100s of cars and there are no signs restricting any type of parking anyplace. The security guy at the entrance sent a security guard on a golf cart to run me off but the security guard said he didn't know why. We decided to enter the museum and when we stopped at the metal detector the guard standing there said if that's your RV you have to leave. Other people around couldn't believe it either. It might be a great museum but the rude security guard on a power trip has absolutely ZERO common sense. That's my RV in the red circle at the back of the parking lot. read more

This museum is a must see if you're in the area. It was very thoughtfully architected and designed. And it's HUGE! If you are interested in learning about the history of infantrymen and the war's they've served, this museum will not disappoint. My only warning is that the topic of discussion is "War", therefore, if you're a sensitive soul, you may leave feeling very somber and heart broken at all the blood shed, lives torn apart and lives lost in order to protect and preserve our freedoms that we are blessed with this day. Hopefully, more Americans can experience that history lesson and stop taking everything for granted. As I mentioned in the quote on one of my photos, be sure to arrive well fed or bring snacks as this museum can eat up a lot of time. read more

What a GREAT experience ! I actually learned so many things while here ! Honoring soldiers from the day one. Beautiful, articulate museum FULL of information and beautiful displays. The accept donations upon arrival with brochures and a kind person who Explains which displays are open. There is a gift shop and concession stand inside for convenience. They also host Army graduations on Thursday's and Fridays. They don't allow purses inside so be aware to only carry your wallet when going in. Highly recommend stoping with your kids. read more

We always visit Fort Benning every year for the Global War on Terrorism Memorial ceremony, due to my cousin being a fallen soldier. The program is usually held in the museum, followed by a brunch and a tour. The museum hosts were absolutely amazing. We did not feel rushed during the tour and we were able to also go on our own. The museum was clean and their restaurant also had great coffee. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They also had arrangements for elderly to be driven from the parking lot to the front door. This was great, as we had my grandmother and my mom (who is handicap) with us. I also enjoyed visiting the gift shop. I was able to get some things with "Army Cousin" on them to honor my cousin. They also had special seating for gold star families, which was a nice touch. It meant a lot to us and it was nice chatting with veterans and other gold star families. Every year that we visit, we always meet and get to know other families. The museum is bigger than I initially thought. I highly recommend that you visit if you are ever in Fort Benning, Georgia. It is one of the best military museums. read more

If you're into military history, or even just history, then this is the place for you. This museum does a great job thoughtfully covering the history of the USA Infantry from inception to modern times. The displays are amazing and the artifacts are plentiful. I really enjoyed the modern exhibit and the WWI exhibit. The entry is free but I would recommend giving a donation by either cash or card. There's a great gift shop and food options as well. Make sure you give yourself a few hours to really be able to see everything. read more

This museum is the museum you NEED to see. Even if you don't know anyone in the Infantry, you will not regret a trip here. You learn and see much about our Infantrymen and the wars they have been in, their history and their lives. It's a very humbling trip and a very good one for anyone just becoming an Infantryman. My heart is broken! Why is the museum STILL closed to the public??? Not only closed to the public, but closed to Veterans, Retirees, etc.... too. Hundreds of us have come to Benning to celebrate our history, & we can't go inside. Today, July 20, 2021, there is no "Covid-related" excuse to continue to deny entry. This is America - there is no room for ignorant fear. The GA Museum of Art is open to the public..... (Ps: I'll call you out: as we were turned away, we told another woman trying to enter that the public isn't allowed. She said, "I just drove here on my way to Bragg to see my sons. Do you think they'll let me in?" She is not attending a graduation and is not on any "list", just a mom with a sob story & she was let in, but not two respectful veterans.) Sitting here waiting fir friends...Watching a dad with his 12-year-old son walk up to visit, & leave with disappointment. Whoever is in charge: great job! read more

The best military museum I have ever visited. The level of attention put into every exhibit was evident. So many real vehicles and artifacts from the Infantry's history here. Lots of light and sound effects. I especially loved watching the videos and recordings of old radio and television broadcasts. It gave me a glimpse into the past from so many different perspectives - literally from all over the world and up and down the timeline. This museum is simply amazing. I would very much like to return here with my family. I'll definitely recommend my friends and relatives to check them out if they're ever in the area. read more

A few years ago we went to a really fun wedding in the museum. My son has always wanted to go back here and look around more. We stopped on a road trip on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed our time here. The museum is HUGE and we enjoyed our time here. There is a section for every point in US infantry military history. I highly recommend going here. Admission is free but you can make a donation. My teenager also enjoyed the simulations that you pay to do. I hope to go here again one day. L read more

Rain in Florida and Georgia changed our plans a bit and husband suggested this museum. Upon arrival you are searched and wanded then cleared to go in. The place was free and really big. There is a lot of information to read. Nothing was interactive. The lower level had tables all set up nice for a banquet. There was a nice gift shop with armed forces stock. I was tempted to buy this sauce in a grenade bottle but didn't want my luggage confiscated at the airport by TSA. read more

My son and I really enjoyed this walking tour through the history lesson of the US infantry. Before you walk in, you will see a huge statue called Follow Me that originally was known as The Infantryman. It is an amazing statue that shows the tension and leadership of an infantryman leading into battle and sets the tone for what you will see inside. The interior is set up three levels, the first floor (below where you enter) is made up of seizure separate rooms covering time periods from the revolutionary war thru today. The second floor has exhibits showing infantrymen in various depictions of wars through the ages with music, flashing lights and sounds of gunfire and artillery. Behind that is information on training and what equipment men go through. The third floor highlights the Hall of fame for OCS and Rangers. Outside, there is also a World War II Company Street, which you can stroll or take a guided tour. We really enjoyed the exhibits, especially the area as you enter the exhibits and the downstairs area that showed a lot of equipment used in the various wars. There were some excellent displays and dioramas on WWII and Desert Storm. We also enjoyed the VR game they had set up, my son and I took it as a family contest. Sadly, we did not make it to Company Street as we got a late start and had a drive in front of us. For those of you traveling, there is a Hampton Inn that shares a parking lot with the museum, so it is a convenient place to stay. read more

The place is huge and we honestly couldn't do all of it in one visit. If you are Interested like we are, you read everything and it's so compelling. My eyes and feet were tired. Impressive!!! Our soldier graduated as an Infantrymen on Inouye field, and we were told that dirt from the most important battles fought were used to create the field, so soldiers were graduating on hallowed ground. That's pretty impactful for the new soldiers to feel like they are standing on ground that veterans before them fought on. The museum is a vast campus, tons to see. Exhibits on the gallery level are broken down by time period. Artifacts, photos and video are used to portray each event. The experience was moving. They have a Vietnam Memorial with 3/4 replica of the wall in Washington. The Global War on terrorism includes a piece of the Twin Tower beam. There is more to see and do than there is time in a day. This is our second trip. This time without a child. It is truly a marvelous place to celebrate all of our soldiers. We actually got to read and absorb so much without the grand child. It is laid out to tell the military story of the infantry soldiers. The museum goes as far back to the first people that fought for the country before it was a country and then all the way to present day. This museum is like a thick novel that you have little time to read. You just have to keep coming back and learning something new. read more

We were in town for a friends graduation from OCS and he took us to the museum. We spent probably 2 hours there and it wasn't enough time. It was one of the best museums we have ever been to. They use their funds well and really have made a wonderful experience. They are donation only so you can go and visit and donate what you wish. The museum is very interactive and has so much to see and read. Videos, exhibits, stories. It really is one of the best. I highly recommend going if you are nearby! read more

I've always been of the make love, not war mantra. But regardless, I still love learning about history and being transported back in time. There are exhibits galore of artifacts and historic documents. Impressive displays showcasing war times and walk-through exhibits which make you feel like you are really there. However, the best parts of this museum were the Vietnam War room and the video game war simulator. The Vietnam War room easily transports any of its visitors to the murky waters of Vietnam as if you are there in the thick of the night. The place is dark, there are trees overhead, and you hear the nocturnal animals -- all painting a scene in the theatre of the mind that you are indeed one of the soldiers. I will not go into detail about the rest of our experience in there, but let me just say it was so real and my son was so alarmed that he ran out of the room! The video game simulator is played on 5 screens and you have a choice to be in either the helicopter or the tank. There are several weapons and you pick the one you want to use and shoot at the screen. It's a bit extra, but if your child is one of the many video game addicts, i'm sure he or she will find it very enjoyable. Parents may even get into it, too. How often can you play on 5 massive screens surrounding your warcraft? It's like being part of the game for real! I highly recommend this for anyone with a love of military lore, war stories, or just history in general. Worth every penny! read more

I'm going to rate the museum 4 stars for the overall experience. It's a tremendous tribute to our infantrymen and the overall US military with great insight into the major conflicts throughout our history. The Medal of Honor exhibit is particularly special. The museum is not restricted to only the positive history either. They touch on controversy and some historical blunders which is a credit to them. Also the number of weapons and equipment on display is amazing. Currently there is also a display of a 9/11 flag as a fitting tribute. I don't know how long it will be there. I did not see all of the halls, nor the outdoor portion nor the interactive section due to time constraints. And frankly, my feet were tired from standing and walking on the hard floor. I had planned to take a break and eat lunch at the museum, but that didn't work out. The museum is excellent, however, it's not perfect. Many of the signs on the displays are not clearly connected to the items they are explaining. In the main Last 100 Yards ramp, the lighting, while dramatic, is ineffective for viewing the signage and information. Currently, the theater is closed and the Fife and Drum restaurant is also closed (a small snack bar is open). I also have a concern about the loud artillery fire simulations in the WWI trench exhibit. It's quite loud and I saw no warnings for anyone who might be subject to PTSD. They even provided information about the concept of shell shock as it was originally known. I'm surprised that they don't warn visitors. Admission is free but donations of $5 are encouraged. Plan on spending a couple of hours or more, if you explore some of the outdoor displays and grounds. Note also that unless you arrange for a tour, the museum is self guided. read more

Benning, this museum has beautifully manicured grounds, displays outside and tons of information inside. We spent 3hrs wandering through it and I'm sure we missed something. If you have ANY interest in military history, this place is for you! No entrance fee, but they do ask for a $5 donation and it's well worth more than that. NOTE: Army trainees graduate on Thursdays and Fridays, so this museum can be a "madhouse". read more

Had our wedding here and was rushed and was shoved in a elevator with my husband when he was not to see me till I walked down to his they stole our first look from us and we can even get that moment back we had to play security ourself at several point to keep people out of our private event and was treated bad my staff I hired was in shock how rude the infantry museum news to us and to our guess they will not get back to us with our concerns I have emailed them to get contact information to the director so now I will writing the directors of the museum with my concern on this matter I am not happy with how things went down and I all they want to offer me is a free meal in a year we'll I can't eat your food I have strict diet so I couldn't even eat the good that night . Wow! I was blown away at how well done this museum is. If you're a vet add this to your bucket list. You will thoroughly enjoy it. There is something here for everyone. There are also memorials to the Vietnam Vets and the war on terrorism located outside the museum. I thought they were amazing. There is more here than infantry. You'll find even more about cavalry and armour. There is a special display dedicated to medal of Honor recipients. I learned much more about the army and our country during my visit. The museum is located on base but does not require credentials. It is easy to access and there is plenty of parking. Everything is clean and kept, including the restrooms. Entry is free but a $5 donation is suggested at the door. They do require a quick pass with a wand before entry. The museum is a gun/weapons free zone. read more
