She searched around on the computer and said she did not show me as having been at the hospital that morning. I can't make this stuff up. She then told me I didn't have a 2 PM appointment scheduled. I told her I did when I called that morning to confirm the time. She told me to have a seat. At 3 PM, I went to the desk and asked her what was going on. She said, "Oh, I forgot about you." I informed her that I was not going anywhere without being seen that day, so she needed to do whatever it took to find whichever doctor it was that I needed to see. Finally, around 4:15, I was called to be checked in and called back to be seen around 4:25. The doctor doing my exam was very apologetic and explained it was a misunderstanding (it always is). The records were sent in the mail...just regular mail...nothing secure. The receiver is a nice person who managed to find me and return the records. I called the office and the receiver called twice. I specifically asked for two of the doctors to call me. No one has reached out. I could only speak to the admin. Apparently she is also the compliance person. Not good. So HIPAA violation. I have reported this to HHS. Thank goodness I'm in a good place now. I can't even imagine the repercussions if I were living in an unsafe situation. Run, don't walk. Run.
