When I visit there it takes a good few hours to look all around the museum and my daughter loves the last room we visit, which has activities for the children to do. In the school holidays they have various events on to get the children in, last year they held a fun day where my daughter had clues to find items all around the museum and they gave out sweets to the children at the end, it was a fun day out and my daughter always asks to go there and the cathedral when we are in town. There is a website you can visit that tells you all about what is being held there and events coming up, I personally love the live camera which is supposed to be ghost hunting, as there is apparently a few ghosts which regularly visit the museum and the workers there, although I myself have never come accross anything paranormal!! They also have a ghost walk which is done every halloween and would love to go on it one year, maybe when my daughter is a little older. They have a visitor shop where you can purchase memorabilia to keep and gift ideas. If like me you love history and finding out about different places then you will love the peterborough museum, it certainly has a lot to offer all ages.

It really is sublime. There is a small seating area right opposite the counter which, in the colder months, has a log burning fire. There is a larger and very comfortable seating area in an upstairs lounge with mixed seating.sofas, armchairs, tables.another log burning fire which is regularly attended to. Sink into one of the cozy chairs and watch the traffic pass yet at the same time feeling, as if perhaps, you are somewhere else? An impressive array of homemade cakes etc., awaits your attention when you place your order which, even if you choose to take a seat in the upstairs lounge, will be brought to you by a member of the pleasant staff. For a light lunch you may try their delcious homemade soup with a roll? I would be happy to recommend this establishment to my female contacts as a place for the unaccompanied traveller to stop and rest a while in a spotlessly clean and safe environment. With a fantastic location opposite the entrance to King's College, this is a great place to come in and browse - and for that reason, if you want some buying advice, you may have to wait a while due to the sheer number of people who wander in. However, the staff do really know their stuff and are extremely helpful, even for novices who might feel a little intimidated. I first went in with only a vague idea of the kind of thing I wanted and came away with much useful information. Later, having bought the prints we wanted, we took them to the Lawson Framing Gallery and had them expertly mounted and framed.

This is a great little art gallery in the centre of Bury St. Edmunds. It is in a grade I listed…read morebuilding. The atmosphere is very relaxed and there is a small library where you can relax, read art books and have a coffee. They also have a craft/gift/book shop. The Suffolk Showcase exhibition was on when I visited and there was some very good work. The gallery has a constantly changing exhibition space and admission is now free of charge. I would certainly recommend a visit next time you're in town.

This is high end art run by a lady with a vaste pedigree in the Art World. Lady Isobel Throckmorton is a treasure, her knowledge and eye going back as far as her time as a wartime runner for Philip Green - one of the most esteemed London Galleries. Call ahead and you'll be treated to a feast for the eyes which is better than many a large London Gallery. Talk to Lady Throckmorton and she will open your eyes to a new World. Not to the faint of pocket but if you have money to spend, this is the place to go.
