Guess when it's less than a week from Xmas, places like this could be slow! This location is great. Kiaora Place has covered parking, first hour free(!), and is steps away from the spanking brand new library,lots of cafes, shops and, of course, a huge Woolworth's! Medscan is on the top floor near the library. Medscan is beautiful and very clean. The staff are very accommodating and so friendly! Like, I almost want to go there just to hang out! They put you in this big MRI kind of machine and it hums and thrums and measures every bit of you and spits it out on a screen and shows you your lean muscle and fat deposits and measures your entire body by the gram - one of my arms is like 300g bigger than the other, go figure. A sports physiologist takes you through the results, you get to ask all the questions you want, and you walk out of there armed with more knowledge about your body than you had before that you can use to make important decisions on, like exercise and nutrition plans, and muscle gain goals. They assess the body composition using a light X-Ray machine called Dexa Scan. It scans the body and gives a breakdown of fat and metavolic rates within the body. The scan takes roughly 5 mins and afterwards your given a chart which tells you your bodyfat levels and breaks it down to shows exactly where your storing fats. This is definetly useful to assertain what parts of training are working better for you and indicates what you could change. The machine also calculates your metabolic rates so you can figure out what you need to do to gain or lose weight if necessary or what you should be eating to maintain current weight. The clinic is clean and staff are friendly and my whole assesment took about 15 mins and the gentleman was happy to answer any questions I had. Accurate and informative service.
