We took the Intro Plus this time and were challenged to expand our off-road riding skills. This 120 acre terrain offers a unique opportunity for lots of skill options with loose sand, gravel, large hills, ruts and grooves, obstacles and much more. Their coaches have years of experience. The staff is knowledgeable and accommodating, the Chef is top notch. The training camp is all inclusive. Will we be back? Absolutely! Once you have gone through the program you become part of a new family and you are always welcome whether it's for more training (private or in group) or just a visit to say hi. You can bring your own bike or rent one of their latest edition BMW GS or GSA, with an option to purchase one that includes many incentives. We purchased our BMW 1250 GS 2 years ago after our intro class and have been hooked ever since traveling across the US and Canada. If you aspire to the exciting lifestyle of adventure motorcycle travel particularly on the BMW GS series motorcycle, enroll in the Rawhyde adventure training program so you are then prepared for incredible opportunities.

The coaches (JJ, Mark & Bill) held the group motivated even during a heat wave and kept us learning in rough conditions. The chefs were putting out mind blowing food and mechanic was amazing as I brought my own bike and had to remove items. WENDY is the glue with her love and energy is mind blowing!!!!! Coming with zero experience of off road I walked away 3 days later with such information to go protective and hit the BLM lands!!! Jim Hyde is running an amazing training facility! Such a great and fun group of happy and experienced employees..... it's truly a family.

Campground Host Tammy STORMED onto our group campground, (where there were 2 adults and 5 kids),…read moreSCREAMING that we needed to move our truck. She did not say who she was or "hello"- she came in yelling while we were gathered around a picnic table having a great time as a family. When we calmly asked where the rules stated we could not park our camper topped truck on our site, she continued to yell disrespectfully but also said it was not written anywhere but we "better move it." We calmly replied that we were all set up, and if she could show us in writing to move it, we would immediately, but if not, we were respectfully declining. She screamed that she was sending the Sheriff. We told her that was no problem and asked that he please bring the rules when he arrived. The Sheriff arrived later and was very kind and professional. He greeted us and the kids and had a calm discussion. However, he said the rule was not in writing and it was Tammy's rule. So, we did not move the truck. The next morning, as we we were all ready to go to the lake, Tammy and the lake host stormed into our camp again- yelling that we had been evicted- we could not stay our 2nd night, and were also banned from the lake. Yes- they told 5 children on Labor Day Weekend, that they had to go home and were banned from the lake. We paid $130/night to have a large site and set up our truck. This was a TERRIBLE experience on a trip we were all so excited about taking. Honestly, the worst part was how Tammy treated us.

It looked as if there was only one loading dock, though, but big enough for maybe 3 boats at a time to get in the water or got out of. There are spots at Pyramid Lake only accessible through boat. There were many places that someone could anchor their boat and fish or be alone. There were a few bathrooms we counted, including a bathroom in the middle of the lake. No toilet seat covers, but there was toilet paper, just BRING hand sanitizer! The water to me didn't look very see-through or clean, but there wasn't any visible algae. Pyramid Lake is a wonderful place to take out your boat and go fishing or just relax and tan. The breeze was nice, and there were plenty of shady areas.

Well, my circumstances dictated a larger first boat. Insurance was difficult to obtain, and when I did, they asked for 30 hours of sailing and a sign off from a licensed captain. Captain Joe of Far West marine agreed to be my mentor, and I could not be happier; an expert sailor, an intuitive teacher, and an interesting person to spend time with. We have finished our insurance requirement and I feel like I've made a good friend. Im sure we will sail again in the future.

I quickly realized I'd need professional training or else the boat would never be enjoyed and might as well be sold. Luckily, I was able to find Captain Joe online. Joe is everything you would want in a marine mentor or coach. He's extremely knowledgeable but also patient and knows what to say and when to say it so you learn while also feeling safe . After a few hours under his tutelage we went from not even being sure how to really start the boat to being able to pull it in and out of the slip ourselves, get it to the ocean , get it on plane, drop anchor. He also went around and did a basic safety check of everything on the boat and gave some recommendations for a simple maintenance plan . Joe is also full of good stories so it's fun just to hang out with him. I'd definitely recommend far west marine for anyone interested in getting into nautical piloting and seamanship .
