Project manager, Spencer, DOES NOT return calls on voice mail and he is NOT prompt on returning calls or emails. The senior project manager, Jaymie, had to intervene, because I left voice mails of disappointment and regret. Jaymie was great with communication. But Oahu manager, Steph, is like Spencer. She's hard to get in touch with and doesn't return calls when you have a question. Installation team of Josh and Kekoa were great and quick. Josh took pics of my roof tile grout cracking and Kekoa said they can help me fix it while they were up there. This was on February 14th, Kekoa said he'll reach out to Josh to get it fixed. Jaymie reassured me with a couple of phone calls saying that she will reach out to Kekoa. Fast forward to today, March 27th, and NO ONE has reached out to me. Hence to 2 stars. It would've been higher if communication and promptness with Kekoa could've been better. I would be wary of using an "off island" company like ProVision. If I knew it would be like this, I would've used an "on island" company. I would've paid a couple thousand more to have better customer service. read more

My experience with ProVision Solar was very good, and the company came highly recommended to me by a friend. The entire process of installing a solar panel system was made easy. Any issues were handled quickly. The sales staff, including Linc, were friendly, knowledgeable, and always on time. If you decide to finance your PV System through Sungage, be sure to verify the state tax credit shown on their estimate is correct. A $10,000 credit was listed when it should have been $5,000. This came as an unpleasant surprise when completing my taxes. ProVision Solar's own estimate accurately reflected the tax credit. I should also mention that if you refer someone to ProVision Solar and they go through with having a PV System installed, be sure to let them know at the very beginning so you qualify for a referral gift card. Not sure what happened to mine for referring my parents, but I never got it. ProVision's services might cost a bit more. However, their excellent reputation and the reliability of the system and warranty make it worthwhile. I definitely recommended ProVision for your next solar project. read more

I was looking for a long-standing Big Island-local solar company mostly because I wanted someone who would be there to service the system instead of just install and run. From the first call with Kathryne, I knew I was dealing with a first-class, professional outfit. No hard sell, just a lot of useful information about the product, the process, and what it would be like post-install. I can't think of any part of the pre-sales process that was sub-par, Kathryne really cares about her customers and the products and advocates for the best system that will provide the correct amount of power and value and last a long time. After we decided to move forward, Kathryne met Elmar (chief engineer) at our house and they did the analysis on the house position, roof, electrical system, etc. They correctly pointed out the need to re-roof, taking care to note that not only is it prudent for the system, it was safer for the installers. I appreciate that they think of the safety of their installation crew. The system spec'd top line equipment, including a Tesla Powerwall and SunPower panels. The latter were recommended based on their long experience and the superior output of the panels. (More on the performance later). The permitting process was slower than I would have liked but ProVision Solar was always on top of it and pushing the process along. i.e. it was not their fault. Due to my own fault and lots of competition from people who were trying to get systems installed at the end of 2019 (bigger tax credit), I could not get my roofer to give me a bid. I missed the deadline and the install happened in 2020 (and 100% not the fault of ProVision Solar). They were extremely busy but continued to communicate that they could get the install done in time for the 2019 tax credit. The install was probably the most impressive part of the process. We could not have asked for a better crew. Chris, the crew and electrical lead, was thorough, communicative, and very detail oriented. The install was incredibly professional and clean. I was most impressed, though, when they put the ladder up and secured both the bottom and the top of the ladder. And the roof workers all wore harnesses. I had a tight install window due to trips to the mainland, and the office / scheduler really went above and beyond to accommodate my schedule. And Kathryne was there all the way through the process, and even showed up at the beginning of the install to make sure everything was correct, etc. Full-service sales support, which was very much appreciated. When Elmar came to do the final touches on the system and final inspections, he was thorough in both his inspection and explaining the various parts of the system to my satisfaction and understanding. It gave me further confidence in the goodness of the installation and the system that was specified. Since then, with 12 panels, we have gotten as much as 22kWh output in one day. The lower end of the output, on a very cloudy Holualoa day, was 7.5 kWh. We have been 99-100% self-powered and have been putting a lot of power back into the grid. The house is 2200 sq ft with one split A/C system. I expect our HELCO bill to be the minimum basically forever. Even with just one Powerwall, we have not come close to draining the battery overnight, even with AC usage. If you want the very best solar company on the Island (and maybe in the state), I am convinced, based on my personal experience, that ProVision Solar is that company. read more

We recently got an addition to our existing solar PV system. We went with Provision as a result of their reputation for quality work. They did not disappoint. The office crew provided ample information on the job and the status of the project, including permitting, approval, and inspection milestones. The installation crew members were timely and respectful. Whereas the earlier PV system was installed on a structure with a very simple roof, the new addition had to be installed on a very complex roof - there had to be several distinct groups of panels. Despite the complexity of the job, Provision was able to perform the installation without littering the roof with conduits. Importantly, the job was done in a very professional and meticulous manner. Provision Solar is a fantastic company to work with. My husband and I had to go to the mainland due to a family issue when we were just starting to work through the paperwork needed by HELCO and the county. We thought it meant we would have to push back the installation of the panels. We thought wrong. The Provision staff worked through all the paperwork even when it meant having to overnight some papers for us to sign. The installers were extremely professional and installed our panels quickly. They made sure that HELCO came out to approval everything as quickly as possible. The panels have been up for close to a year now and they have been maintance free just as they said they would be. High electric costs are not a worry for us anymore. In addition, we know that Provision has our backs as they take the time to contact us occasionally to make sure we have not issues.
