Find a parking spot and carry your stuff like a normal person. I completely understand blocking the bins if you have something large, but not for a few bags of stuff. Several new bedroom furniture sets with new mattresses were also on display. I found a great assortment of glass Pyrex dishes and one loaf pan that I had been searching for for a very decent price. Service was friendly and helpful, too. Head to their downstairs for some real treasures. There, you'll find some beautiful older wooden furniture pieces as well as a few relics such as a stove and washing machine from the 50s. Some of the pieces were not for sale, yet still we enjoyed admiring them. I will say that I noticed quite a few of their big ticket items do sell fast. You'll go in one day, and the next, a furniture piece you may have been admiring will be sold and gone. On the plus side, this creates space for new inventory, so there's been something different every time we've visited. Great place, and I highly recommend stopping by.

After spending hours digging through five or six thrift stores in Hixson and coming up mostly empty handed, I was delighted find a small rack packed with exactly what I needed - men's long sleeved dress shirts in a variety of colors. As I started making a pile of them for a school play, the lady brought me a buggy. The sweet cashier even gave me a discount for buying 18 of them. Pop's and Granny's Saved the Day and the Play! I wish my photo of the store didn't turn out so blurry. I may drive back over there after the play to show the folks how they helped all the kids look good. :D

Horrible experience with one of the employees. Every detail here is about the same employee…read more I listened to her berate a family with small kids for a full 15-20 minutes immediately when I arrived. She was coercing one of the family members to translate her rant from English into Spanish, and lecturing the adults present on not letting their children look around the store away from them. The store's patrons then had to hear her gossip about it for an additional 30 minutes, complaining to other customers and saying she wasn't racist. During the discussion with the family, she said the kids might break something, and the mother tried to assure her that if they did, she'd pay for it, not to justify them breaking something, but just as a way to try to reclaim some accountability the employee was insinuating she refused to maintain. The employee also gossiped about this to customers, insinuating the woman brought this up as a way to be flippant and "do it her way." I dared to put my clothes in a dressing room *without her permission* and was also lectured, and as a result got understanding looks from the other customers and accidentally snorted. After I changed, I again heard her gossiping, this time about me, and heard her remark that she "knew what [I] was trying to do" and that I "should be wrapping up soon so all of the negative energy should be out of the store." Whenever I went to check out, I asked if they had a student discount- they do- and she specifically cited needing a valid ID "since people try to get away with this stuff" (a 10% discount). I showed her my university ID, issued in August of 2021, which she then refused to take, citing a lack of date on the ID (my university does not issue new IDs every year). I asked if I could show her my enrollment in the past or upcoming semester, or my university email, and she refused. When I questioned this, she stormed off to the back without responding and a manager came to the front to complete my transaction. As I left, the back door was open, and I, for the second time in under 20 minutes, heard her gossiping about me, complaining about my insistence that I was a current student and an earlier attempt to buy a shirt whose tag had gotten caught in my hair and subsequently torn slightly. Store's prices are fine, slightly high. Better discounts and customer service can be found at the other location in Chattanooga and the Soddy Daisy location.

Just made a donation drop off at the Calhoun location. There was a person standing at the door but…read morehe just stood there looking at me as I opened the bed of our pickup. He didn't greet me or make any attempt to help me unload until I asked and then said the carts were full. There was already a sidewalk full of previous donations so I proceeded to add to the pile. Our donations were neatly boxed, taped, and not too heavy but he sighed with each removal. No offer of a receipt or even a thank you for the donation. Wow...definitely will rethink where our next donation goes...lack of appreciation and poor customer service doesn't set well.

I have gone a couple of times with very specific items in mind (not usually wise when thrifting), and miraculously, those items were there. Honestly, a dark green velveteen jacket, a black velvet cape, and a black lace blouse? They also have wonderful NORMAL stuff and brand name clothing in good shape. On another visit with out of town thrifting friends, they went a little crazy here. They tell me they will have lists for their next visit.
