I had two simple tattoos done by Sean R. The guy is a total pro with over a decade of experience. Both calm and confident, he put me at ease for my very first tattoos. Now, even a client with a simple design can be persnickety, and I was no exception. Sean was patient until we achieved a Vision we both liked. If you need collaboration or ideas - this guy has them in spades! This ain't a local parlor - this is a destination! If you live in Mass or South County it is "worth the trip!" read more

Providence Tattoo - The SemiColon - Tattoo Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

I dealt with Jon for a tattoo recently and have to say, Jon and Providence Tattoo is the easiest experience ever for those looking for a tattoo. 1. When I called he was the guy who answered the phone around 2 months ago when I booked a tattoo and stated confidently he could handle what I was looking for. 2. I sent him a design that it took me a year to pick out, little did I know, it was a more common tattoo than I thought it to be (not my intention but it was meaningful to me). Jon made it up in his own style so that it does look different and unique to me. He also took my suggestions about how I wanted to change it for me. 3. The customer service I received was unrivaled. While most of the store is booked out quite a few weeks, he was easy to stay in touch with if I had an idea about how to change the design and never left me hanging for more than a day during the wait. Jon took my ideas, incorporated some of his own and I couldn't be happier. It was affordable, the customer service was awesome, the end result was above expectations. Lastly, if you are reticent about getting your first tattoo, ask for Jon, not only was he a great frigging dude, but he's fine with taking a break a few times an hour so you can both stretch out and feel comfortable. Not my first tattoo, but my first 5 star experience and a local experience with local artists. I will be back if I need something again in the future. Lastly, the shop is clean, everyone followed covid protocols, you never feel unsafe or at risk there. This is an A+ operation filled with A+ artists and workers. If you're looking for some ink, go to Providence Tattoo, and if you can, go see Jon. read more

I went in with my own drawing and hoped for the best. I showed it to Pat who was able to offer great suggestions for improvements. He is also very experienced and has innate artistic abilities so I finished with something far better than I had expected! read more

All around fantastic experience. Worked with Dean to come up with a pair of "matching" tattoos. Easy to work with and we ended up with something better than what we had in mind. Loved the vibe of the shop and the time in the chair was smooth and easy. Would definitely recommend. read more

I worked with Jon on a Harry Potter tattoo on my forearm, I am beyond happy that he was able to take the inspiration picture i provided him and deliver 1000% times better. Besides him being an extremely talented artist, he was really friendly and easy going which made for a really relaxing session. My only regret is not getting the name of the front desk attendant to leave him a review as well. You were absolutely fantastic while ensuring everyone stayed their distance away, as well as only having one person in the waiting room at a time. I can't wait for my second session THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH read more

This place is EXCELLENT! I was born and raised in Mass, but moved to Minnesota for 15 years for work. I have seven tattoos all from one MN artist. Once I find a good artist, restaurant, repair guy, etc...I will stay with the same one because I know the value of a professional. I Was itching for my 8th so I looked into several places in Mass and RI. Some I pulled up to with people hanging out front smoking cigarettes in a dirty littered parking area or if you actually go in, the smell? Not so good. Which is why I was shocked when I walked in to Providence Tattoo. First of all, CLEAN, no one hanging out front. It smelled like a hospital in there. We were greeted right away even before the door closed. TJ was awesome he took my design and added his own touch. He did my "Celtic Tree of pain" in two hours. Attentive, a good conversationalist and epic artist. The roots represent me in my lowest and most painful time in my life. Injured my back, went through the whole opiate thing. I met my wife who saved my life. which is represented by the heart. The dog paw represents the dog that also saved my life, "Bomber" the bird on the tree branch represents my son. The upper branches are me reaching in victory. The bird flying away is my son! My wife added to her main tattoo as well and came out excellent! Go here first! Highly recommended!! Five stars all the way. ***UPDATE***10/12/20 Added two more. This time in both in tribute to my dog Bomber. If your reading reviews to find a reputable shoo? Look no further. Each time I go in I am amazed at how clean, organized and professional this place is. I have many tattoos, and from this point on I will go no place else. TJ is a very talented and exceptional artist. Call ahead for an appointment, be sure you bring your mask. They do everything correctly. I feel more comfortable going there than I do going to my own doctors office! read more

I write this review with a lifetime of experience - but a lifetime with no tattoo experience, until now. At 59, for some reason, I decided to get my first tattoo. I was 'in the moment' back home in Rhode Island with my beautiful daughter and my oldest friend in the world. I actually owed my buddy a debt to get a tattoo for many years, but that's too long a story for here. To celebrate being together and getting to watch our beloved Patriots play in the Super Bowl together, we decided to get tattoos. Found this place on Yelp, it was open on the Sunday afternoon, and got pretty solid reviews. In we go, and the whole experience was great. I had always known that if I ever got a tattoo, what design it would be, so that was actually the easiest part. I worked with the artist, TJ, on getting exactly what I wanted in the size I restricted him to, and he promptly set to work to design something. The place is clean, professionally run, and my hour or so sitting and talking with TJ was a pretty pleasant experience. The Pats won the Super Bowl and my daughter and I have a permanent reminder of a wonderful moment together. I couldn't be more pleased. read more

I don't normally leave reviews but I had to for my tattoos. Was recommended providence tattoo by a friend who couldn't remember who her artist was so I just asked for whoever was available. I ended up having Pat do my tattoos and it was overall an awesome experience. He was super friendly and nice especially with the fact it was my first tattoos and they came out beautiful and exactly how I wanted. Couldn't be more pleased. I left a few pictures after the first wash but it was hard to get good angles but love love them. Will be going back to Pat for my next one ! read more

I got a beautiful tattoo and the place was very clean and well kept. I got tattooed by Dean and he drew up my tattoo nicely and adjusted it accordingly. I was able to come in the day before, pay a $100 deposit, and get an appointment the next day! The only issue that I experienced (which didn't sink in until after I left) was that Dean told me it would take 1 or 1.5 hours MAYBE 2 hours but it ended up taking 3 hours so I ended up paying more than I expected. read more

Happy costumer. Went with Amy an I am very pleased with her work. The cute dog ( mascot ) of PT is very sweet and lovable as well read more

Couldn't be any happier with my tattoo from Jon! I've never gotten a tattoo with sharper lines or more accurate detail than this one. I brought in a picture to work from and he turned it into something way beyond what I was expecting. Very fair pricing and friendly atmosphere. Jon will be my guy from here on out! read more

I'm on my second sleeve with Dennis. Quality is unmatched, and it is priced fairly (sometimes I think I'm making out, but don't tell him that). I would recommend to all my friends looking to get tattooed in the Providence area. The new shop is beautiful and immaculate. read more

I prefer to go into a tattoo shop with an idea and then let the artist run with it, but for my most recent tattoo, I wanted an anchor--a very specific anchor straight off the internet. Based on their portfolios, I knew the staff at Providence Tattoo could easily handle it, but I was a tiny bit nervous that with something so basic, they might just phone it in. That was not my experience at all. Steve was totally helpful during my consultation, could fit me in soon due to a cancellation, and took the time to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. The parlor is straight up beautiful, the artists are super professional, and the overall experience was lovely. read more

I've been tattooed at a bunch of shops throughout the New England area and I can definitely say that Providence Tattoo is one of the best places I've ever had the pleasure of being tattooed at. The staff were so helpful and inviting and I felt instantly welcomed the moment I walked in. I've walked into some shops before and well, you all know what it's like. You walk in and instantly feel uncomfortable, the place doesn't look/feel clean and you just get this bad vibe from the joint. Providence Tattoo (both locations) is the complete opposite. It's clean, bright, there's killer artwork on the walls and the artists are friendly right from the get go. Speaking of artists. The guy who tattooed me there is named Taylor Weed. Let me tell you, I can only say great things aabout the guy! He's an exceptionally talented artist who was absolutely thrilled about my tattoo ideas. When I go into a place and the artist is actually excited about what I want tattooed, I feel so much better about the place and the artist. I asked Taylor for some input on some of my ideas and he was more than happy to share some of his thoughts with me. That made me feel even more comfortable about everything. It's quite relieving to walk into a shop and know that you're going to be treated well. read more

This shop is pristine. Clean, well-lit, and awesome layout. Dennis (the "boss man") is talented, professional, and charming. I only had a small anchor tattoo done on my wrist but would absolutely return to him for future work. Clean lines, great technique, and reasonably priced. read more

I went in on Saturday for an appointment with Jon for my second tattoo, my first ever professional tattoo, so I was a bit nervous. I arrived early so I waited in the front for a bit. Chuly (a friendly and cuddly dog) helped me calm my nerves! Once we got started, I felt very comfortable. Jon was very helpful and easy to talk to. I LOVE how my tattoo came out - it's just as I pictured it. Thank you! read more

Awesome dudes, awesome shop and even more awesome was the work that TJ did on my chest and stomach. Been goin to the dude for years and never been let down. Definitely check this place out read more

I got my first tattoo done by Steve and it was as chill of as an experience as it can be (nerves right?). He did awesome work. This was a year ago back at their Angel st. location. They have since opened a second location on Atwell's ave. Congrats to Dennis on the second location! I have only gotten work from Steve but all the artists at the shop have been very cool when I have been in, and Dennis' work in particular is exceptional, based on his work he displays online. I have been tattooed by Steve for a year now and it has been a great experience. He gave me my first tattoo, just a simple "Mom and Dad" on my bicep and I have gone back for a year now. Steve has given me some chest work as well as a half sleeve on my arm comprised of old school, traditional, you know typical hisptery, stuff, anchors, roses whatever. Yes I have stereotypical taste, but the work and treatment I received from Steve was far beyond typical. He is a great artist and you should really check out his flash sheets and get some of his original work. He specializes in traditional stuff, think Sailor Jerry, though I don't want to pigeon hole him, I'm just basing this off his flash sheets and the work he has done on me. His work is of the best quality and his personality is great. Seriously, I love his art and have bought several paintings/ flash sheets from him which hang on my walls and get compliments. I even convinced my wife to get her first tattoo from Steve, and she loves it! Whether you want to chat or just sit and meditate during your tattoo experience, Steve will give you fantastic work and a great experience, whether it's your first tattoo or your 100th whether you wanna chat or just grit your teeth, Steve works perfectly with you and your design. The price is decent. I mean it's not cheap, you get what you pay for. But both the locations, I got work done at both, are immaculately clean. The owner, Dennis, is constantly supervising the cleanliness and directing the other artists and staff to address any problems. The attention to detail and cleanliness sets this shop apart and should make it a front runner if you're looking for the first place to get a piece. I have since moved out to the West Coast and miss the work I got back East. I can't wait to visit home and get more work done by Steve! read more

Very pleased with my tattoo. I figured I would a new tattoo shop that had an old school traditional vibe with experienced artist that took walk ins. On a whim I stop in around 5pm with a simple and quick tattoo idea. I was met by TJ and after a little paperwork and exchange of ideas I was on the table. Couldn't be more happy with my new tattoo piece. I would recommend TJ and Providence Tattoo to anyone. I left with a few ideas for my next piece. read more

The guys at Providence Tattoo are great! I got tattooed by Rick and had an awesome experience; he didn't hesitate at all to draw me a custom piece based on what I described. I went for 3 sessions here, all with Jon. First one I paid for 3 hours ($350) and received just over 2 hours of work. second I paid for 2 hours ($250) and got an hour of work and then was charged another 200 basically to finish coloring theblast 2 pieces and it took 30 mins. I intended on having an entire sleeve done here and needless to sayni will not be returning. I just wanted an honest artist to do all my work but inetead was rushed out all 3 times and charged top dollar for mediocre work at best. read more

I went in today on a whim after work and TJ took me as a walk in. I would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for super clean line work and an artist that is passionate about their craft. TJ is an amazing artist and conversationalist. By far the best tattoo experience I've had. read more

Very expensive and never going back. Charged $100 each for a sun and a moon just the outlines no color or shading the size of a nickel. Went back to inquire about the price and was told they charge minimum of $80 and price was quoted prior to getting the tattoo. NO, they were not quoted first. The other tattoo received was bigger and LESS money on ribs ($50) Upon inquiry the guy came up with all sorts of excuses. The place is a rip off read more

When they say that getting a tattoo is addictive for some people, I can see why. For me, it was kind of a big deal. I'd been thinking about it for years and just never could decide on a place, an artist, or what I wanted. My experience with the body piercing facility upstairs actually motivated me to check on what would be involved with finally getting inked and I'm really glad I finally did. Whatever visions you have of places where you'll be unsure of what you're getting...any trepidation...went out the window when I saw the first line go on my arm. Great experience. Professional, clean, comfortable and fair. They have excellent - and I do mean excellent - artists who do not bat an eye at whatever you want to do and are extremely agreeable and communicative. My artist was Jon and I was very pleased with his confidence, his talent and his overall friendliness. This was my first tattoo - a birthday present to myself - and I could not have asked for it to have gone any better. It looks exactly like the agreed upon design and I would go back for something else in a heartbeat. read more

Nick was great and gave six of us excellent tattoos. The boss man, however, was a dick to everyone in his path. Employees and customers alike - he was even bitching about housekeeping while his employees were trying to work. I'd get more work done by Nick, but I won't be going back to the Atwells Providence Tattoo. read more

This was my first tattoo. I did tons of research - referrals from friends, and reading reviews on the internet. I specifically chose Nick at Providence Tattoo based on his online profile. Overpriced and none of the artists were very friendly. They also said that you aren't allowed to take someone back with you to get tattooed because it's the law?? So a friend and I had called an hour and a half before closing to see if they could take a walk in for two decently small quotes we were getting. We were told time was getting tight but yes he would take us. So we get there the place itself is very nice, receptionist was nice, Now the tattoo artist who I believe his name started with a D was very rude and unprofessional. When I had showed my friend where I was putting the quote he stated "Who do you want to talk to me or your friend? Because we were just having a conversation." It was rude and uncalled for. I had told the receptionist I was all set and I received two phone calls from this place afterwards. Not sure if they were going to ask me why, but it's pretty common sense you don't treat a customer like that. I'm not letting anyone tattoo something permanently who talks to their customers like they are beneath them, if he didn't want to tattoo because it was close to closing he should've said so. I was very disappointed with this place. I have a 7 tattoos and was planning on a new one. My husband got me a gift certificate here and I am not gonna lie I was super excited. I had a couple of ideas of what i wanted but after meeting the artist I kind of lost a lot of faith. He kept trying to direct me to things HE was comfortable tattooing and now what I was asking for. When I mentioned I didn't like the idea instead of directing me to a different artist and professionally saying he wasn't up for the job I settled on updating my tattoo I've had for 18 years. Now he told me the price before he started but I was upset the impression that he would freshen up the faded tattoo. After he already started and we were talking about it he said he wouldn't be touching what was already there. I had 2 eyes on my back. He added a little shading and some eyebrows and charged me $125! What a waste. I left him a tip bcuz it was the right thing to do and what he did looked nice. But In reality it looks like 2 separate tattoos now. Was very disappointed with the cost and service.
