The truth of the Bible is taught at Providence; the Word of God is not watered down. People are kind and care about one another at PBC.

I like to find new Catholic Churches in the area after pilates on Sundays and after trying a few in McLean and Vienna, I stumbled on this Yelp page and liked the sound of "traditional Roman Catholic Church". Upon arriving the first thing I noticed was a much larger cemetery than church itself. Several families were lingering outside of the main doors a few minutes before the service but no one was very outwardly friendly. The church is certainly older and creaky. The pews don't have the newer foam to cushion the kneecaps, and frankly the pews need replacing and looked haggard. This church was odd. Nothing was really wrong with it but it felt unusual. No music, all the women wore Lacey veils, even the children, the priest walked in with a hat of some sort which I haven't seen before, and there was a lot of mumbling and the flow of the mass was very sterile and to the point. The altar boys were very militant and everything was severely structured. The tabernacle and the altar were built into one. The homily was also very intense. Despite having many children in attendance the homily was dedicated to the topic of hell in excruciating and frankly unpleasant detail even as an adult. While in typical Catholic mass adults will beat their chest 3 times, adults beat their chest often throughout this mass. I'm not sure if what I experienced was traditional Roman Catholic. As someone who was raised in this faith, this was an experience I've never had before. It was cold and I felt odd given exposing my hair. The service was very long and at times difficult to follow. I don't believe I will return. In summary, nothing was wrong with this church but it was not the typical warm and welcoming environment and this mass is most likely not for everyone. Upon reading through reviews- I found this article: please read before attending https://www.arlingtondiocese.org/2017/05/08/statement-from-most-reverend-michael-f-burbidge-on-the-consecration-of-father-gerardo-zendejas-member-of-an-independent-church/

We just hired a new associate rector this year who is young and full of energy and gearing is up to welcome young families. If you have children this is the place to be, complete with a special afternoon service once a month. But we are also multigenerational with many opportunities to get together socially as well as to serve our community, and to reach out to parishioners who may have special needs. We are "multilocated" meaning that you can attend church on Sunday in person OR on zoom, and it is interactive. We have parishoners from as far away as the UK and Canada! Fran Gardner-Smith is our Rector, she is an awesome pastoral presence and, being highly respected in the diocese, attracts a talented staff and also seminarians/deacons in training. We represent a broad spectrum of political views, and in doing so we live out our Baptismal vows to respect the dignity of every human being. Come check us out!
