Morrisons is set out in a rather unique way, you walk into 'market street' to start with and this is where you can find all your fruit and vegatables. and just like the tv adverts tell you there is a fish monger and butchers, who will cut your meat and prepare your chosen fish for you. They also have a brilliant salad counter where you can pick up lunch to go in a handy little container and for those with larger appetites they to hot roasted and baked goods such as whole chickens, ribs, sauagess, pies, sausage rolls and many more mouth watering offerings! Morrisons also from time to time have fantastic 'deals' on such as 3 for 2's and buy one get one free's. I think it's amougst the best super markets for these types of deals. There is also, like most supermarkets, a cafe! Each time I've visted I've been impressed with the range of food and the quality.

The really good thing about Aldi is that all of their prices are really low. We bought a couple of sirloin steaks during our visit, and after cooking them they turned out delicious. In the center of the store they have lots of gadgets and random household products for sale which was quite cool. Overall Aldi is quite a good store, and I highly recommend stopping by!

Asda! my favourite supermarket of them all, and Asda Monks Cross is HUGE!!…read more Asda is probably the cheapest of the 'big' supermarkets, I'm going to start by telling you about the clothes! To get to the clothes you have to journey up the 'travelator', my daughter thinks this is the best bit! it's like a slanting walkway that takes you up to the mezzanine floor where the clothes are. The best part of Asda clothes is the value, t shirts and jeans, jumpers etc. Wardrobe essentials at great prices, typically you can get a pair of jeans from as little as £3! The childrens clothes are fantastic, hard wearing and value for money whilst still very much on trend! Back down the travelator to the dvd's, cd's, compter games as well as mobile phones, tv's dvd players and sometimes even computers and laptops! There's always a brilliant selection of electrical items at good prices and they even have a 'budget' range! Great for students (toaster for £3 anyone)? This place is an absolutely MASSIVE Asda!…read more This is a really big Asda store at Monks Cross York, including a huge clothing and jewellery range upstairs and everything else under the sun downstairs, including all the usual Asda counters such as hot food, fish, freshly made pizzas, delicatessan, indian & chinese take aways, meat and bakery. Asda is usually great for offers as well and the Welcomer at the front of the store usually announces what offers they currently have over the tannoy at regular intervals. There is a massive car park, petrol station (usually the cheapest in York), car wash, Pharmacy, Opticians and cafe. Also it is surrounded by a wide range of other shops on the Monks Cross shopping park.

This is my first experience of and Aldi store, and I must say I'm hugely impressed!…read more We visited on the stores 'grand opening' and a lovely member of staff gave my daughter a balloon! brill - it kept her entertain so I could have a good nosy round. what I noticed first that some of the produce, washing up liquid for example was extreemly cheap, 60p I think, but it was in the same shape and style bottle as fairy liquid. The only thing different was the lable and that's what's great about Aldi, you're getting top brand stuff, perhaps with a different lable at rock bottem prices! Excellent! It's well worth having a good browse round as there're lots of bargains to be found.

Cracking new Aldi store at Monks Cross in York!…read more This place opened in November 2008 and is really good, a lot bigger than the other Aldi in York and in a great lcoation adjacent to one of Yorks biggest and best out of town shopping centres, Monks Cross. There is a huge array of food, drink and other items available from TVs to laptops! The only drawback is that that car park is a bit on the small side for a shop of this size!

Sainsburys Monks Cross York is a large supermarket that was renovated a few years ago…read more Like most other supermarkets seem to, Sainsburys now do not only food but they have their own range of clothing, (TU). They also have for sale stationary, cd's, dvd's computer games and books. From time to time they also get great value electrical items such as telly's and DVD players, they don't always have them, but when they're in stock they're worth a look. The kids clothes are brilliant, inexpensive and good quality. The adults clothes are a bit hit and miss thought, but still worth a look. The food at sainsburys is much the same as other supermarkets as far as branded items go, but they do there own range of food which I've always found to be of a high quality and would recommend it, in particular there baked in store bread! Sainsburys cafe is worth a look too, meals ranging from salads, sandwiches and soups to fish/pie and chips. They also do a stonkingly good Breakfast and it's the perfect hangover cure!

Horsleys is a very friendly local butchers shop. They have a very good range of value meat - both…read morecooked and uncooked. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will cut any cut of meat you require. They will prepare any meat to fit your requirements free of charge. They requirely have offers on which are great value. The shop is very well maintained and laid out, even though it is small there is still an extensive range of products. There are several other branches in town and they are all of very high quality.

Good smaller sized Tesco store in the centre of Driffield, not as small as an express store but…read moreonly about a 10th of the size of the usual out of town Tesco stores, hence no cltohing, electricals wtc. but does have a small selection of books, CDs and games. Never the less it has a decent range of food products including pharmacy, fish, deli and hot counters. As well as a bakery and seasonal selection (Chrismtas, Easter, Garden, etc.) Can get very busy around the tills due to the aisles being almost right up to the till area, although there are now 6 self service tills which make it a bit less congested. Plenty of car parking available which is free and convenient to also do some shopping in Driffield town centre!
