The best gym you could go to here in the Henderson area. Beats all the chain gyms you'll find as far as equipment, variety, and the best gym environment by far. Everyone is very nice and welcoming. If you ever have any questions whether it be about how to use equipment, form, or anything, any of the other people in the gym are friendly and don't mind helping you. The facility has great equipment including ample power racks and free weights, machines, and modern cardio equipment. The members are all friendly, focused, and serious about their workouts. Haven't written a review in a long time, but Mike knows exactly what it takes to keep people happy and working hard at the gym. This gym has everything you need, plus software for you to personally use outside the gym. I have also had the honor of working out with a knowledgeable personal trainer, Austin. Both Mike and Austin have constantly worked with me and are currently helping me achieve the goals I want to reach before I move in August. As a bonus, there's a yummy and healthy food truck right outside the gym providing low cost foods and shakes. Best gym ever. I hate going to normal gyms. I have never been able to keep going for longer than a couple weeks, but ProtoGym made a huge difference for me. I've been going to ProtoGym consistently for 8 months now. The difference is that it's a smaller gym, people and friendly and there to actually work out, the owner is a personal trainer and always willing to help, and most of all, the software that the owner has made. The software builds a workout routine for you to follow. All you have to do is mindlessly click on auto-generate workout, choose how long you want to work out, print, and then follow what it tells you to do. The software uses circuit training, so a couple exercises back to back with little rest in-between followed by a longer break. It consistently kicks my butt. The better/stronger that you get, the harder it will work you. Circuit training and some of the exercises that it asks you to do are a little different than what most people used to, but I was able to get over it quickly because most of the people around you are doing the same type of exercises, so you don't look out of place. Most of the time it's not too busy, but there have been nights where it is packed. The owner is expanding into the vacant commercial space next to the gym though, so soon there will be a lot of additional space. I'm paying $25 for the no-contract option without any of the classes that the owner runs. For $35 you get one boot camp class a month. Because of this gym and the owner's nutrition advice, I was able to gain 30lbs, mostly muscle =) , in about 6 months. read more

Has equipment that you don't see in usual gyms. Peg wall, rope climbing, med ball throw walls, plyometric boxes, fully stocked bumper plates, gymnast rings and so much more!! Great prices. So happy this gym finally opened! I have been "stalking" it since the beginning of the build hoping that it would be a clean, affordable place to join since it's so close to my house. So far, they have exceeded my expectations. It has All of the necessary machines and equipment (and everything is new!), open 24 hours, and everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. I tried EOS across the street and wasn't a fan but Protogym seems like exactly what I have been looking for! The only thing I wish they would offer is more levels of class packages. The unlimited is a bit more than I would like to spend each month but the other option isn't quit enough classes. The general membership is an awesome value though!! read more

Hands down the best gym I've ever been to. ProtoGym has the nicest,most helpful staff I've ever met at a gym (or any place, for that matter). Even the members here are incredibly friendly. The setup is similar to a CrossFit gym with the addition of dumbbells and cardio equipment. You can either do your own workouts or take one of their classes. I'd recommend this gym to anyone looking for a great workout in a very positive environment. I always hear people talk about how their gym feels like a home away from home and I've never understood that feeling until joining ProtoGym. read more

This experience comes from me, a 6 month+ personal training client of the owner. He is an egomaniac that holds people down from their goals while emasculating people's presence on the regular. This includes slurs towards the client during paid training sessions (homophobic, ableism, boy, dog, calling active chemotherapy patients 'Sinead', women clients "hoes") and trying to be an unapologetic psychologist for his paying members. Clients deserve a baseline of respect while improving themselves towards their goals and the owner has expressed several times he "does not care" about this - he'd rather make himself feel better with slanders while applying his own goals to his clients. Recently other friends have left specifically due to his attitude and bad mouthing. My personal grievance is he has told other members that he has to "train this fa**ot" while knowing of my sexual preferences, as well as saying I hit like a "fa**ot" while training me Boxing - with no credentials to train anyone in any of the aforementioned. I have tried to address this attitude towards me and its often blamed on his upbringing and/or stress of running the business. This is clearly unacceptable for anyone in a position of power running an establishment like a gym. read more

Just cancel my membership they say that equipment is available at any time but I have had to separate coaches tell me that I can't use particular equipment because they had a class going and they charge $15 for a one day pass when their total monthly membership is only $30 who charges that much for a one day pass that's just bad business I've never been to a gym including very expensive CrossFit Gyms that would not give a free trial read more

I was referred to ProtoGym by a good friend and have been extremely satisfied. The gym is owned by the trainer and it is pretty much a one man operation. You are given a scanner key and are able to access the gym 24/7/365. Being that the gym is relatively new (6 months or so) the member base is not huge yet, therefore most of the times I have gone I have had the entire gym to myself. It felt pretty exclusive except the prices are far from it. The gym offers all of the equipment you would need for successful circuit training and cardio. The really neat function is the protogym software in conjunction with the gym. When you go in, you go up the the kiosk, scan your key and it brings up your personalized work out. You click for your work out to be generated, print it out and don't have to worry about what you should be working on that day. The exercises for the day also have instructional 30 sec videos that show you exactly how/what you should be doing. The equipment is well kept and well stocked (medicine balls, mats, boxing bags, weights, stability balls, balance trainer, cones, high cable stations, etc etc). The website lists in full everything offered at the gym. Mike, the trainer/owner is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and will kick your butt in his boot camp classes. I kind of want to be selfish and not let the word out about this awesome and innovative gym, but at the same time I want him to succeed and stick around. He offers month to month, no contract memberships, as well as membership options that includes boot camp classes. He doesn't do any third party billing, so when you ask to cancel your membership he will do it without any hassle or headache (I am looking at you 24 hr fitness...). read more

By far the best gym around. This is not your average globo-gym. Lots of free weights, slam balls, kettlebells, power racks and open space. No contracts, no fees, no frills. Protogym is exactly what I have been looking for. It feels like a family environment. Everyone is friendly with each other, helps each other out, and is genuine. Not only are the members good company, but the owner is approachable, and very amicable. He welcomed me to his gym with open arms, and has taken the time on multiple occasions to talk to me. There's plenty of squat racks, and cages for use. Two sets of dumbells with plenty of adjustable seats, treadmills, row machines, ropes, medicine balls, chains, boxing bags, I mean you name it, Protogym has it. Best gym in town. read more

I'm loving this gym, its small but they have everything you need. All the basic equipment, plenty of free weights, heavy bags, body weight stuff like monkey bars, climbing ropes, peg board, rings, etc. A nice variety of stuff. The only problem, and the reason I take off 1 star, is the amount of people who are training with way more weight than they can handle. Its amateur hour all the time. Some people here literally drop the weight on every single rep. And not just a few, it seems like every time I'm there. Come on, if you can't handle the weight on the last rep or two, ok, drop the weight, that's expected, thats giving it everything you got. But if you're dropping the weight on every single rep, you are using way more weight than you can handle. Not to mention you are losing all the benefits of controlled eccentric muscle contractions. You would think they were all training to be Olympic power lifters. But half these dudes aren't even in shape, and the weights they are dropping is like 135 pounds, lol. It's a joke really, but at least its not like Planet Fitness with the stupid lunk alarm. I will take this over the stupid fascist lunk alarm BS any day of the week, but just be warned this place has taken it to the other extreme. read more

I've attended many gyms, but nothing like Protogym. I've been there since day 1and it just gets better and better. It's an amazing facility with 24 hours access, 7 days a week. They have very knowledgeable trainers, great classes like HITT, Olympic tech, yoga, and much more. Training at Protogym has helped my athletic and firefighting career. I just joined this gym last week but am loving it so far. It's a smaller gym but has all the essential equipment needed. Also I've been in at a few different times and it's never crowded. Plus it's only $30 a month with no start up or cancelation fees. The only issue for me is the music is a bit loud in the front part of the gym. read more

This is a great gym where people go to work hard and get results. I do the unlimited membership with training classes and diet plan. If you dedicate yourself to this lifestyle, there is no way you can fail. I have been doing it for 2 months now and have lost nearly 20 pounds, numerous inches, all while improving muscle strength. I've been a member of ProtoGym for over 2 years and I absolutely love this place. I was nervous when I first arrived to attend my first small-group class. To my surprise, everyone was extremely friendly & welcoming (going to a new gym can be intimidating) so I felt right at home. I take the classes 4-5 days a week - they are always different so you don't get bored. I have learned so much about powerlifting and am amazed at how how much progress I have made so far. All of the trainers I have dealt with are knowledgeable about health and fitness, and truly want you to succeed. Protogym is by far my favorite gym ever. I will continue to keep my membership here. I would recommend it to any friends or family. Mike the owner is a great guy. He is extremely knowledgeable about fitness and working out. As a person he is authentic and you can actually talk to him. As a woman I know I feel weird working out in front of men but truth be told I never feel that way here. Even by other people working out at the gym, you can tell everyone is here to reach their fitness goals. No one is trying to hit on you or get your number. Jake is one of the trainers that works at Protogym and he is awesome as well. I had a session with Jake and he was again very knowledgeable about fitness, eating, and being health conscious. He actually taught me a lot in the 2 hours he trained with me. I just have nothing bad to say about this gym. It's clean, it has a ton of equipment from beginner type equipment to advanced type equipment. Also NO CONTRACTS! That was what made me go there to begin with. When I joined in February there was no startup fees either. I don't know if it's the same now. I love this gym. If you're looking for a new gym. Protogym is your jam. read more

PROTOGYM IS THE REAL DEAL! This place gave me the swift kick in my butt I needed to start me on my journey to a healthier lifestyle. (I'm 5' and WAS 127 pounds and lost nine pounds in six weeks - the right way.) More importantly, I'm stronger mentally and physically. Their trainers are nutritionists so they are also a treasure trove of health knowledge. At first I was intimidated of all the equipment they have (which is always clean, organized and well-stocked) because I had only ever stepped foot into gyms full of machines. I quickly learned how to use all of it. Their classes are also small which makes it like an "almost" private training session as they can keep an eye one you, your form, your progress and keep you challenged. Not only that, I had an injury at one point (not caused in the gym) and the trainers helped me by providing modified workouts and referring me to a specialist to help me outside of the gym. This is not a place that promotes cheesy themed workout days or attracts gym goers taking group "selfies" somewhere in a corner - thank goodness! PROTOGYM is a real gym with qualified, accessible and caring trainers who provide programs for real results. Anyone can set-up a brick-and-mortar gym, but its PROTOGYM's team that makes it outperform others. They're the total package. read more
