    Heather Bro Photography

    Heather Bro Photography

    (1 review)

My husband and I hired Heather Bro as our wedding photographer in October 2012. We chose to use her…read morefor two reasons: 1. That a friend of ours had heard good things about her and 2. She was very reasonably priced. DO NOT hire a photographer based on price. We learned our lesson. Our package included an assistant photographer, a few prints, 2 memory books, and her services for the entire day; we also paid $200 extra to get a disk of all of the photos. First, she was almost 2 hours late to the venue. She says that this was because of traffic. Now, I understand that no one can control traffic; however, as a professional photographer she should have planned for this OR at least been more apologetic when she arrived. Instead she said, "Don't stress out. We have plenty of time to get pictures." Ultimately, she was right about that, but I don't think that makes up for being late and not apologizing. Second, her "assistant photographer" was a high school student--A friend of her daughter's. A high school student should NOT be listed as another photographer when telling your customers about your work. We took plenty of pictures before the wedding, and I will say that they turned out stunning; however, she hardly took any pictures DURING the wedding, arguably the most important part of the day. To put it in perspective, she took almost 450 pictures--56 were during the ceremony, the rest were before the wedding. I'm sure you're asking yourself, What about the reception? Well, yes, she was at the reception, and she stayed until the important things were over (cake, dances, speeches, etc.) before she asked to leave; however, I have only 16 unedited photos from my reception. It took her the course of 4 months, providing different excuses such as she "didn't take any pictures at the reception" and "they must be on a different memory card" and "I know I took them, so I promise I will find them" before she finally settled on this response "I did fail to capture most of the reception because of improper lighting. One reason my photography price is so low is is because I am inexperienced. I offer one of the lowest packages in our area. I am not downgrading my abilities or talent by saying this but simply I believe one grows with each project given and there will always be something to learn from it. In regards to asking for HALF of the Cost you paid me. I was able to give you 440 good quality, edited images that took me many additional hours of work. Also, looking at the coverage of the Wedding and the Hard work for those 6 hours I was there for. I personally and professionally believe that is not a fair amount to ask for back. I am deeply sorry the pictures from the reception did not turn out. I did find them and saw that the reason I indeed did delete them was because of the poor lighting and all were blurred except for the ones that you have when you were all in the Tent." At the time that I received this response it was, April 10, 2013--6 months AFTER my wedding. At that time I had not received disks of my pictures OR anything else from the package as promised. Her excuse, after presenting herself to me as a PROFESSIONAL photographer, was that she was inexperienced. My husband and I chose to take her offer of $250 refunded, which in no way was an appropriate amount nor did it come close to making up for her mistakes because at this point we had been fighting with her and hearing excuses for six months. I did not receive the prints from my wedding until November 2013, Over a YEAR after my wedding despite numerous emails and calls from myself, my husband, and my mother. I did not receive the memory books until March 2014--1 year and 5 months after my wedding. Her only excuse was that they took a long time to get made...by an online company, quite similar to shutterfly. I can GUARANTEE that the books did not take over a year to make. In addition to all of these problems, she was rude and completely unprofessional for the entire experience. Anyone who still plans to use her after reading this review is welcome to message me for copies of the emails between us. I would be glad to save any individual the frustration, anger, and heartache that working with Heather Bro Photography has brought my family and me.
