This was not a simple procedure. The crown and abutment were extremely difficult to remove, and there was uncertainty about what would be found underneath. Dr. Kakos was willing to take on a challenge that many others would not, working carefully and persistently to help preserve my existing implant rather than moving straight to removal. His kindness, confidence, and willingness to help made an incredibly stressful situation much easier to handle. Thanks to his expertise and determination, the implant was saved and I can move forward with the next stage of treatment. Frustrated of Unexpected Billing Charges. But each time our family would undergo for a procedure, we get surprised of the bill and always being told it's our previous balance from the last procedure. This facility needs to be transparent to their patient especially on billing charges that was not informed before the procedure. We feel that we are being trapped on the situation. He saw that my dad was in dire need of new bottom dentures and offered an expedited process to get us to the next appointment quickly. I feel very confident that he's the guy to take on this challenge (my dad). He also didn't have a weird doctor-y vibe that so many docs (especially dentists) can have. He seemed normal, which was very comforting. His support staff (nurse and desk chick) couldn't have been nicer and really were eager to help/please. And don't get me started on their office. It's like a luxury hotel, compared to what I'm use to. Modern, immaculate and super stylish--which makes me think this guy knows his stuff and has cared for all details of the practice. When they ran 15 minutes late for my cleaning appt, I had no problem. However, when my child had an appt, they were over an hour behind. And not a single employee would have told me what's going on unless I was persistent and asked for follow ups. No one apologized. In fact the older woman at the front desk patient shamed us by saying we should have made a 1st thing in the morning or a Saturday appt. Um, say what? If I am an hour late to an appt, guess what? I have to pay a fine. But keep me waiting for an hour, it's my fault somehow. Not to mention my child had to miss the entire afternoon of school for no reason. Hey, I have an idea - why not try calling your patients that you know will be waiting over an hour and letting them know before they waste 2 hours of their time and miss school. Another suggestion - if you refuse to call and give patients a heads up on lengthy delays, how about when you notice patients sitting in your waiting room for over 15 minutes, take the initiative to find out the delay and let the patients know what's going on? And keep them updated. Emergencies happen. We get it. And understand. But it's how you handle the patients whose appointments are are affected by the emergency that matters. You give them notice, keep them updated, apologize and most of all don't patient shame as if it's their problem.
