First off, the family has wine dogs! These two welcome and announce you as you enter the property with loud barking , waiting for you to acknowledge them . They are friendly and may even accompany you during the wine tasting . We found these two pups to be quite charming and really enjoyed the authentic family winery touch they added to our experience. We started with a tour of the facilities where they explained their process and history. The prosecco vineyard has been in the family for decades, and you can truly tell how passionate they are to share with visitors. We then moved into the main house for the tasting, which felt cozy yet elegant. We were welcomed with homemade breads and treats made by the family. Each Prosecco we tasted was distinct and delicious, and we learned about the process and tradition. They made us feel so at home, and I would highly recommend to anyone to stop at Col de Lupo. They were passionate about the wine, the history, and sharing it - all delivered in perfect English (thank you!). We truly appreciate our visit here!

Spitz will bark at you but don't be fooled-he wants pets! And Mya will knock you down to get ear rubs :) Julia, a member of the family, guided us through the family's production process and gave us a quick tour of where the grapes are pressed and then stored to ferment. After a quick tour of the production warehouse you'll get to taste the delicious and final products inside the main house. Of all the wineries I visited this was the only one that made and gave us to taste a non-sparkling prosecco, which according to our guide Julia is the typical table wine for families living in the prosecco wine region. I never even knew there could be a non-sparkling prosecco! In total, we were able to try four different wines produced by the family. As we went through each wine, Julia was extremely informative in describing the process in making that specific wine and the foods it paired best with. She even had a chart that was very helpful that outlined different varieties of wines starting with most dry to least. Until this trip I never understood truly what the difference was between a brut, extra dry, etc. until Julia outlined it for us. To top it all off, during the tasting Julia's mother brought out a tray of traditional Venetian style cookies to compliment the wine that were absolutely delicious. Overall, Julia and her family (pups included) were extremely hospitable and made us feel at home within their home as they shared with us their family's history and wine-making traditions. Add them to your list to try in the Prosecco wine region!

I sent a note last minute on Friday, inquiring about a tasting the same weekend, and was so excited to get their quick response! We enjoyed the "extra" tasting, lead by Sylvia -- 6 of their amazing wines (two bubblies, two whites, two reds) with a delicious mix of salami and cheese with bread and their olive oil. Oh! That olive oil. We would have bought gallons and gallons of it but alas, they were sold out for the season. We took home 4 bottles of wine instead. All of the wine plus our tasting fees set us back just €80. Deal of the century! That same haul in California would have easily cost $300 plus. I'm so excited that we live just half an hour away from Coffele and the charming town of Soave. I envision many visits in our future. If you're lucky enough to be in the area, be sure to plan a visit to Soave. Check out the castle (just €7 admission with sweeping views) and then head down the hill for a tasting at Coffele!

Coffele is a family owned wine producer that is a must visit in this region. Being only about 40 minutes from our house, this is a frequent stop for us as we bring just about all of our guests here. Be sure to make an appointment for a tasting. Pick the one with salami and cheese too, it makes everything better. To the wine, you start with their brut, wonderful sparing wine aged twice as long as Prosecco so smaller bubbles mean a smoother feel and taste. You will taste 2-3 whites as well, all very drinkable and wonderful first course wines, I don't love white in general but these are great! Our favorite of their wines a Bordeaux blend named Nuj. Fabulous wine, mid level priced, a wine you can age for 20+ years under 20€. Who are we kidding though, this wine comes home and gets opened. Shoutout out to Elizabeth our recent host, she was very knowledgeable and enjoyable. She told us Soave Classico white wine was the first white exported to America in 1961!
