I did so after…read moremy initial visit to the shop having previously arranged an appointment.This I was pleased with as it gave me time to consider without presure and without other customers demanding the time of the assistant ,whom I now know to be Adile the owner of the Bridal Chest.Adile proved to be friendly,patient and very knowledgeable.Having tried on several dresses I settled on one which fitted fine.However, came to the final fitting I had lost weight,but this did not cause a problem for Adile she simply altered the dress without fuss so once again I looked great,this was confirmed by all that came to my wedding. This was a fabulous shop with many great designers with vintage styles and slightly different…read morecolours (champagne/blush), it also had a huge range of styles and sizes and several dresses that were perfect for the slightly curvier bride (I'm a 34FF). The shop assistant I dealt with was my favourite so far, so friendly and chilled out. I went on my own but felt that she was as good as having a bridesmaid there. This was the last shop I went to after choosing my dream dress (thought I would honour the appointment anyway just in case) and whilst I didn't find a rival to that I looked at many very stunning dresses that may well have been "the one" if I had seen them earlier in my search. There were some amazing vintage styles including a tiered dress and some lovely art deco style. I don't know why this has 4 £ by it as I would say the prices are moderate for wedding dresses: price range was from £900-1800 with the majority being £900-1300. I would recommend Maggie Sottero as a designer that does stunning lace dresses that are far cheaper than they look, a lot of these are stocked here. It was a bit of a trip for me to get there but I would recommend it, I am very glad I visited this shop in my search.

I went on a weekday midday and it was totally fine, but worth noting they only let you try on 4 at a a time and on Saturday when I went to collect my dress the queue to try on was over an hour. That said, there was smudging on the train of my dress which they had cleaned without even taking a deposit from me, and when I came back a week later, it was shiny and new. All for less than half of many other dresses a I saw. Recommend shopping a bit before you go so you have an idea what you're looking for and don't need to spend time trying on every style in the place, but overall, totally worth it.

The dresses here are very different and unusual but with a twist on the classic vintage style wedding dresses and with many champagne and dark ivory colours (which are hard to find). The shop assistants are lovely, very honest about the dresses and how they will look which is invaluable (they really know their stuff) and very flexible. Saturdays get booked up very quickly so be aware of that and a lot of the dresses have a minimum lead time of 6 months, but there are evening slots on some days that are possible. The price range is from around £1200-1700 (most under £1500) but the alteration costs are very good meaning it was cheaper than many other shops overall and the dresses for this price are absolutely beautiful and completely worth the price tag. I had visited a lot of cheaper shops before here but could certainly see the difference in the dress design and tailoring. The only reason I can't give this a 5 star review is that the sample sizes range only from a size 8-16 (but with fewer of the larger sizes). I was concerned about this as although I am a size 14 I have a size 34FF chest, however the shop assistant did a splendid job of making the dresses look nice on me. Regrettably the reason the dress wasn't number 1 was because I couldn't imagine well enough how it would look with more space up top (as the cups were a bit small), however for most brides this should be less of a problem. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for something elegantly beautiful and a bit different.

The dresses were laid out separated into sale and non-sale with bigger dress (more princess) and smaller dresses separated, making it really easy to route out what you want, also there's an abundance of choice! I ended up getting a sample dress that was on sale for literally half the price of the dress new last year The dress selection was amazing compared to other shops, nothing was tacky or cheap looking and there was a range of prices to suit every budget. The staff will give you a true "Pretty Woman" experience! I would highly, highly recommend this shop. The booking an appointment was a positive experience and I was lucky enough to get one on a…read moreSaturday afternoon at a short notice. It is also easy to get to by car, easy to park on a side street and it is near New Eltham train station. But that's where the positive experience ended. On arrival the doors were locked and we were out waiting in the cold for a bit. We then got let in around 10 mins before the appointment start time. Prior to my appointment, there were 2 bridal appointments taking place simultaneously where they were walking around the shop floor. I filled out a form and was then left to pick a few dresses to try on. The appointment allows around 4 dresses. I was asked which other shops I had visited. I identified them and they all got slated! I had visited a few other bridal shops before this one so I had a good idea on what I was looking for. The first dress I tried on looked stunning, near perfect. Probably the best one or the joint best one I've seen so far. But unfortunately I was not allowed to take a pic of it to compare it to my other favourite dress. So it's difficult to reflect or come back to it. This no photo policy is somewhat outdated as there's photos of all the dresses on their website with the models wearing them, despite the sales rep claiming that this particular one was not on their website! It is as I found it immediately afterwards. Fortunately the designers featured use a wide range of local stockists so if I do turn out to want this dress I now have all the details and I shall be taking my business elsewhere. The other weird thing that happened is that I was confined to a small cubicle, standing on a pedestal the whole time whereas the other bride was able to walk around freely on the shop floor. I was not allowed to even try walking around or sit in the dress. It made the decision making a bit more difficult. There was a bit of hard sell going on too like 'buy today and save 100', or saying that the dress may not be around for long... A contradictory message to 'this dress is new in' and 'this will be available in September'. However, I was too shocked/distracted by the photography issue to focus on the selling points. At the end of the appointment I was given a business card with just the dress number. No other information about the dress. It is the worst customer experience to date that I have ever had in a bridal shop. A contrast to David's in Westfield. So, in summary there are some nice dresses to be had and they appear to have a good alterations service at a fixed price regardless of what needs to be done. But if you do shop here, just be prepared to not be listened to nor have your requests met.

I contacted them…read morein May 2019 for my October wedding, at first Peter seemed very friendly, I agreed that I will go see them in first week of June and we took an appointment. I called peter in the morning of the appointment and despite him telling me that he will be there, he was not, he left his wife Theembie to deal with us, which was not a problem. she seemed lovely, the prices she quoted us seemed fair in comparison to other quotes we have received and we agreed on everything. once we left there Peter messaged to say the prices we were quoted are wrong and his wife thought we are wedding suppliers (she clearly did not as she joked with us about us as a couple, and told her our background stories and how we met etc). Peter said they wanted 8 pounds more for center piece when I had it clearly written by Theembie it was £8 a center piece, we finally agreed on £13 a center piece and 4 indoor cold firework fountains and a cake table. Few weeks rolled by and every two weeks I would call Peter with a promise to call back and finalize the contract. When I asked if they were insured or PAT tested end of June, they claimed they are going to do it, a whole month went by and again I've called few times to remind in between (averagely once a week), every time Peter reassured me they will do it. mid July I asked Peter upfront if he is even interested in doing business and he again reassured me they have applied for liability insurance and that paper work will eventually come through. 5th of August I have had enough of chasing and calling, I messaged Peter and told him that they are unprofessional and that I no longer wanted to use their services, he called me back telling me that they have been super busy and that they already have something lined up for October for the 4 indoor fountains. you can imagine how annoyed I was considering I have been chasing them for so long, he then told me that he can still do the center pieces and cake table. by that point I no longer had trust in the company and within 24 hours I had found everything I wanted and paid deposits for them, (we paid £50 more in total but I wish I did that from the get go). I subsequently messaged them 6th of August and told them that not to bother anymore as I dont want to hear from them ever again. this is the kind of company you really should avoid as a bride or groom to be; no one needs this kind of hassle; fact is they are so unprofessional in the way they do business; its unbelievable that they are still running. once I told them I was going to write a review I received messages from both husband and wife (I've now blocked them) as I really don't want to hear from them ever ever again, but felt obliged to warn others of them. I have evidenced the whole conversation between us and call logs, should they wish to deny all of this and would be more than happy to upload it!
