My friends are under 21 & he let us dine in the bar area anyways when he could have told us that there's a dine-in area literally next door. I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. This place has really gone down. We went on Thursday night and they were not that busy. The waitress was sweet but was either very new or not a good waitress. We asked a question about the happy hour drinks and she never came back with the answer. She did not offer to refill our waters. It took an hour for the food to arrive. When it finally did, I had to send my meal back because it was so salty. It was like eating out of a salt shaker. The item I ordered next was fine. Went here for brunch - horrible service. Had to ask multiple times for silverware even after 2/3rds of the food came. The server dropped my bacon, said he would get more and never did. Came here for a nice Mother's Day and I have to admit I was quite disappointed. We sat down and after waiting 20-25 minutes we reached out to a bus boy to finally get a waitress to get our drinks orders. 10 minutes later our waters finally arrived. Since it was brunch I decided to try the bloody marry bar, but sadly nearly everything was wiped clean. Another 20 minutes went by with empty glasses and empty stomachs we were finally able to place our breakfast orders....... 45 minutes went by and our food arrived, well most off it my wife's omelette or should I say scrambled eggs arrived 20 minutes later. Quality was average but unfortunately incredibly cold with burnt toast. Our waitress was running back and fourth, and you could tell the place was incredibly short staffed. We reached out and spoke with manager who simply said yeah I know it's bad we are short staffed. Never offered taking any items off the bill including the burnt toast and promptly walked off. First off I wanted to give pronto another chance to impress me, again they failed. We were seated across from the cake frig. The compressor was so loud my friend and I couldn't hear each other. The girl with dread locks handling food behind counter was scratchin her head and laying head on counter. Never once washing hands. We received the worst coffee we ever had. When informed the waitress she said " this is how our coffee comes out so you deal with it." The food we had was not like it was on menu. Anytime I'm in Royal Oak, I feel like I have to stop by Pronto. My first time here was during the summer of 2015 and I've been hooked ever since. The menu has a very wide variety of options so sometimes I feel like it's hard to choose what to order. If you go to an Italian restaurant or a burger joint, you would have an idea what to order before you get there, but Pronto sells everything so it's always a big decision for me. My boyfriend loves their Quesadilla. I believe it's cranberry, apple, and chicken. I love their turkey burgers and sandwiches, mexicali dip, salsa & guac. Get dessert, you won't be disappointed. I got a piece of chocolate cake for my birthday and it was so so so good, the slice was HUGE and the chef wrote a heart on my plate with chocolate syrup. I thought that was cute. If it's decent outside, sit outside! You'll have a much better experience being outdoors and feeling the breeze. Brunch is always a good time as well. The pancakes are huge, the omelettes are also really good. You can order bottomless mimosa's for $15 which comes with a full bottle of champagne and refillable orange juice! Personally I love the service, my boyfriend and I like to have Brandon as our server, he's very knowledgeable, and anytime we're not seated in his area, he'll at least stop by and say hi to us. The only time our service was iffy was during Arts, Beats, and Eats. I wasn't a fan of the limited menu but that forced me out of my food comfort zone and the sandwhich I had was great. My wife and I have been a fan of Pronto for years, until now. We were in for breakfast on March 26 and wish we hadn't. The fruit was bitter, Quiche was microwaved and my Garden Patch was flavorless. Add insult to injury, my hash browns were so greasy I couldn't eat them. When the manager came over to address our concerns, he made excuses like "I've been eating the berries all morning and there's nothing wrong" and "Everyone else is giving us positive comments". Well, your $2 discount was an insult to us. They need to concentrate on cleaning the place up and serving the high quality food they are charging us for. Any one thing by itself wouldn't have been terrible but the combination of issues warrants this review. The first thing we noticed is that the cooler is really loud and seriously in need of repair. We had plenty of time to get used to it because it took FOREVER (40 minutes) to get our food on a slow night. Finally, the women's bathroom has a missing latch on one of the stalls, making it unusable and the light turned off, plunging me into complete pitch black while I was in the stall. Overall, one of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant in a very long time. I recommend take-out if you really need the food made here and plan to wait a long time to get it. read more

Oh, Pronto. Who art thou, Pronto? Art thou a hipster scene? A deli? A bakery? A caterer? Nightclub? Oh- thou art all of the above! Hmm...there's something to be said for the problem of trying to be all things to all people. Because I am in the phase of life that could be labeled as "in a family way," I am limited to family dining. So for the most part Pronto can cover me. But I don't expect to get AMAZING anything. I had a disappointing quesa with chicken and cherries. It was so long ago I think that's what it was. There was cheese, sure. But I recall having the thought that it just wasn't all gelling together in the right way. And that kind of sums up the whole Pronto experience. This is admittedly hypercritical. For our first visit to Pronto it has to rate just average for us. We have heard people rave about it so when my fiance's Dad was in from California we decided to let him take us out to dinner there. We went on a random Tuesday night in June and the place was dead. We sat in the restaurant part and it wasn't even half full. The service was mediocre and it was hard to connect to our waiter. They had a special for $3 for all pints but the menu said limited selection so I asked which ones were actually $3 and he said all of them. My first beer was but then he came back later and my second beer, a different selection wasn't. No big deal but his lack of knowledge put us off. His other service was just OK as well, he was too laid back to really care to give us great service. The food was also just OK to us. We had a Mediterranean Platter, Tuna Melt and Santa Fe Chopped Salad. The Mediterranean Platter was average. Good portion size, OK food. We were very disappointed with the tuna melt. For a place that is supposed to be famous for it's sandwiches this really disappointed. Though it was a large sandwich, served on good bread what they did with the sandwich was worrisome. The cheese was melted to the bread, not melted over the tuna part. Even novices know how to make a tuna melt and the key is that the cheese is melted over the tuna. It was served open so it basically looked like a big blob of tuna on one side and melted cheese on bread on the other. After putting it together it tasted OK but was not even classified as good. The sweet potato fries served with it were cold, good, but would have been better warm. The Santa Fe Chopped Salad was the best find of the meal. It is a huge portion, big enough for two people. It's basically a yummy salad with nice complimentary flavors, served over a bed of tortilla chips. It was fresh and worked well. For dessert we selected Peanut Butter Bumpy Cake and Lemon Raspberry. Though the desserts were good, for all the rave reviews this place gets on it's desserts we were slightly disappointed. The peanut butter bumpy cake was lacking a big peanut butter flavor which we were have preferred and there were only hints of PB in it. The lemon raspberry, though good and moist had an extra sweet shell which ruined it. Everything inside was good but the outside was too crunchy and crystallized (like the sugar used in the cooking process never dissolved). I know desserts and again though they were good it felt as if because of the popularity of them they were made haphazardly and not with care. Overall Pronto gets and average rating. We might return for a casual meal or to try some of the other desserts but we wouldn't go there for a special occasion, take anyone from out of town again or probably even recommend on a regular basis. read more

Great back patio but not great food. Leaves a lot to be desired if you are looking for nutritious food. I had the blueberry pancakes and I feel like I ate an entire birthday cake. This place has gone down in quality over time. The chicken nachos were trash and when they were brought out they were missing ingredients that were listed as items in the dish on the menu so obviously the person cooking wasn't familiar with the menu. Their kids noodles are 6 dollars and don't come with any vegetable side. A small bowl of noodles was placed in front of me and that's when I realized the complete RIP off. Service was terrible as the staff just congregated among themselves because the place was nearly empty. However one customer still had to wait an inordinate amount of time to be seated because he was ignored by the staff who were all talking in a booth 4 ft from the door. I won't be back. read more

But the service - it's mediocre at best, every time. I met a group of friends there for lunch on a Sunday. We had a very inattentive waiter. Half the time we had no drinks and the other part, it felt like he was hovering. I know that I had asked for a 1/2 order of the nachos. When the plate came out it was huge!! The server who brought our food stated that it was a full order. Right then, I should have sent it back and requested exactly what I order. I would have had our waiter not come right up and agreed that it was a 1/2 order. Needless to say, I was only able to eat 1/3 of it (my original plan was to take the rest for lunch on Monday). I got a box to take it home. We all paid our bills and left to head off to the Creative Arts Studio a couple of blocks over. When I was removing my receipts from my wallet at the end of the day, I noticed that I had paid for a full order. I guess it is partly my fault and partly the waiters for the mistake but at least couldn't the food have been hot given the amount of time it took? read more

Excellent restaurant, I am always excited to try new menu items. Recently had the Smoked Cherry PB&J bites, definitely recommend. The staff are friendly and helpful in making menu decisions. They also have daily specials so make sure to check the board when you walk in! A few more of my favorite menu items are the Pronto Pasta, Caprese Sandwich, and the Black Bean Nachos. My absolute favorite brunch spot! The food is amazing, but the mimosas are the real winner. They give you your own bottle of champagne and a pitcher of orange juice so you can keep them flowing! Food here is very good. I love the mars mess, which is basically a georgia reuben, it's huge, messy and delicious. Also, all the other food I've had here is good, but htat's my favorite. Not bad! Went here yesterday with some girlfriends for a "reunion" dinner and we had a great time. The service was not as slow as everyone keeps saying, but it's wasn't super fast either. Our server was very prompt with refills, and brought boxes when we asked - she knew we were visiting so she told us she would give us some time to catch up before she took our order. The food was okay. Well, the dinner was okay, the dessert was RIDICULOUS. I got some kind of spicy chicken sandwich with black bean paste, avacado, and pepper jack cheese on a sub bun. It was pretty good, although I asked for the sour cream and salsa on the side and they put salsa on the sandwich but put the sour cream on the side. My friend got the same thing and asked for th sour cream, salsa, black bean paste, and avacado on the side, and the put everything on the side except the black bean paste....I'm not sure what was happening in the kitchen, but if we would have been picky they would have been in trouble hahaha. Luckily we're cool and we ate our dinners as they came. The sandwich was a wee bit spicy for my taste, our noses were running and I downed about 3 glasses of water and could only eat 1/2 of the sandwich. The fries are pretty darn good! They are like potato wedges that are fried, really crispy and extra delicious. I wasn't expecting to like them as much as I did! Dessert is the real star here, though! They have desserts on trays all throughout the restaurant so you can walk around and drool while looking at them. I saw the giant piece of carrot cake and got that to-go for the BF - can't wait to try it tonight! I did order a piece of pumpkin cheesecake that was out of this world. I told my friends I wanted to marry it...I wanted to be Mrs. Kelly Pumpkin Cheesecake. I was in love. The crust was sweet graham crackers, and the filling was smooth, rich, lucious cream cheese with just enough pumpkin taste to not overwhelm you. Really incredible. Overall, I'm not dying to go back to Pronto, but I'm glad I went. The desserts were definitely the best part of the night, I could take or leave the dinners. read more

From what I understand, the clubbing that goes on here is really fun. The food, however, sucks. It is bistro/deli fare, moderately priced. Even a casual glance at the place suggests it is not so clean. Even a casual bite of your food suggests that it is not so fresh. The restaurant was decorated very cute for the holidays and it was quiet enough to have a nice conversation. Good wine options as well. Bloody Mary is great! the service was ok... We sat outside and the ambiance was great. I think its one part bakery one part bar and the other part café. Kind of confusing but just look for the patio part if your looking to bring the family. Their sandwich selection is so huge it's overwhelming, but I've tried quite a few and each one has been delicious. I also love their hummus/veggie/pita bread platter, although it's pretty basic and something I make at home regularly. Still, I like it. I was not a fan of any of their baked goods I tried, the frosting on the cupcakes seemed cheap and sugary, but I'm probably not the best to judge because I'm really not a sweets fan. However, my sister is, and she insists we stop in there for a brownie or cupcake every time we're in the area. The service is always great and the staff is super friendly. A few months back I went to Pronto for brunch on a Saturday with my fiance. I had an omelette with cut up sausage links and peppers and onions with wheat toast, a glass of orange juice, and a cup of coffee. Our waiter was great, but he did not have enough help. It took almost an hour for us to get our food and when we finally got the food, it was cold. So, yeah, not going back here for brunch. Such a disappointing experience considering that this place has always been a favorite spot of mine and my family's for dinner and lunch. However, I went back to Pronto a couple months later for lunch and I had the Rueben-there was barely any meat. It was mostly bread, so that was strike two, mainly because of how expensive the sandwich was. read more

I haven't been here in about a year and I wish i never went back.This place has gone down hill. The Tuna melt was a cold tuna fish sandwich. There were children running wild all over the place. The club sandwich my friend had was dry and the bacon was burnt. To top it off when I received the check I didn't realized they had printed 4 totals on check all we with different tip percentages added in. I thought the bottom amount was the total bill. I added 20% and left. It wasn't until I looked at my receipt in the car that I realized the amount I thought was the total bill already had a 20% tip already added in. There were only 3 of us so I didn't expect them to add in the tip. So basically I gave my waiter a 40% tip. I will never be back. read more

I stopped in with my cousin last week, and we had both never been to this restaurant before. The outside was a little confusing as there were several doors. It was around 6 o'clock, and we ventured inside. The restaurant is deceivingly large, with several different sections/areas like a bar area, a pool table area with a huge teddy bear, a large banquet style room with many tables, and a narrow booth area by the cakes display. We actually were a little confused on where to sit as we had never been there before and we ended up wandering around the restaurant for a good 10 or more minutes before we could find someone to assist us. No one offered two confused looking girls any help, including the bartender who saw us looking around confused at least twice. When we finally hunted someone down and got situated, we ended up sitting in the narrow booth area. We both ordered drinks which were good and sweet but not very strong. My cousin had either the chopped salad or the santa fe, which she thought was very good. The portion was huge. I ordered the pronto pasta with chicken. The pasta was a big portion, and was very good until I discovered multiple (really short animal looking hair and longer human) hairs in my dish. Thoroughly disgusted, we brought it to the attention of the server who took it off the bill and apologized and offered to get me another (obviously not his fault). At that point, I was so disgusted that I fully lost my appetite. My cousin did not take her salad to go because she was extremely grossed out too. As we were leaving, we discovered this restaurant has an outdoor patio in the back and we were disappointed we didn't know about it or were not told about it as we would have wanted to sit out there. I'm not sure if I would ever go back here because I am still extremely grossed out about the hair. The only way I would ever try this place out would be ONLY for drinks and only for the patio area because I love sitting outside. However, i'm sure there are other options around RO for that. I haven't been to Pronto in over a year. I'm glad I went today. We were greeted at the door and seated right away (Thursday at approx 11:45) My friend was looking for the Salad Nicoise and I was looking for my favorite, the Stowe Grille (it has lots of grilled veggies--yummy) Well, they don't have the salad anymore and they were out of the ingredients for the Stowe Grille. Anyway, she decided on a cashew salad and I had the Turkey Rueben on Rye. I did like the sandwich but I really was missing that Stowe Grille! The salad and sandwich were great. and I loved the freshly brewed iced tea. I never had to ask for a refill, our server kept bringing filled the ice cold glasses. My friend did not like the breadstick that came with her salad--it had too much garlic on it. When a staff person came over to clear her plate she asked why my friend didn't eat her breadstick. When my friend told her she didnt like the breadstick because it was so garlicky, she was so nice she offered her a cupcake on the house!!! The only reason I'm not giving Pronto 5 stars is because of the veggie Stowe grille that I couldn't have. Otherwise, I am a great fan of Pronto! read more

SWEET POTATO FRIES. Wow. I first discovered them here a while back, and really not many places compare. I also love the Chop Salad... big enough to split! I had my bday party here and everybody found something they loved (the menu is enormous... how could you not?!) and everyone had a tasty beverage!
