Pretty decent testing center. From start to finish, I cannot complain too much about my testing experience. Of course, I am not factoring in taking the General GRE Test in this review. *Random, I wonder if I can write a Yelp review about the GRE.* Getting to the testing center's suite and through checking in and security was a breeze. Just be aware that there are some security protocols in place so give yourself a few extra minutes. Some of these protocols include removing all sweatshirts and jackets, confirming that your pockets are empty, lifting your shirt sleeves and pants legs, confirming that you do not have anything written inside of your mask, and even moving your rings up and down on your fingers. Because of the pandemic, you will have to take your exam with a mask on. *It might be beneficial to do a practice exam while masked - something that I wished I had done*. If you remove your mask at any time during the exam, you will receive only two warnings before you are asked to leave the testing center. The center provides individual lockers for personal belongings. The lockers are a bit on the small side, so travel light. In the actual testing room, you are allowed to bring in only a freezer bag (provided by the center) that contains an ID, the locker key, and a pen. I'm not sure if this is a Prometric Testing Center issue since I assume the company shares a floor with other businesses, but the bathroom definitely needed to be cleaned more often. read more

HORRIBLE. Actually horrible. Do not take your exams here. The Prometric proctors were extremely distracting as they were talking the entire time of the exam OUT LOUD. The building wasn't large enough to be equipped for this many test takers since they put all of us in one tiny room, which was the same place they did the security bodily scans. Yes, that's right. The security bodily scans were done in the same exact room as the test room. Horrible. So unprofessional and they kept the door of the exam room open the entire time so I was able to hear the conversations of the proctors the entire time. They also seemed to have run out of the standard "noise cancelling headphones" they're supposed to give because they gave me a regular headphone set with a microphone attached to it, not noise cancelling ones. This was a great place to take my exam! The lobby concierge was absolutely positive and friendly prior to entering the elevator one must take to get to the Prometric Testing Center on the 25th floor. Once you get off the elevators you will be greeted by a someone at the front desk. There are hangers to leave your coats on as well as smaller lockers to put your phone, wallet, etc. it is very clean and spacious, form the rooms to the bathrooms. The staff was friendly, and very informative as to all the rules prior to sitting for the exam. The view in the main lobby is an excellent view of Manhattan. Great testing center overall! I took 2/4 CPA exams at this test center and probably will continue to book my remaining exams at this location. The location is super convenient and located only a block across from the 34th street subway station. The staff were very professional and polite providing all the necessary guidance on security and test-taking protocols. If you arrive early, you can choose to start your test earlier than your scheduled time or sit in the waiting area until you feel you are ready to take your exam. Bathrooms are clean with 3 stalls and require a passcode. They provide you with a key to a locker to lock up all your belongings before going through security for the test. This place is very good at abiding with COVID protocols: they require that everyone attests to not having symptoms, wears a mask (3 warnings if you don't keep your mask on), and they also sanitize all the testing stations after each test-taker finishes and leaves. Rooms are maintained at good temperature - I was fine in tshirt and jeans in the summer. I would highly recommend taking a test at this test center. read more

I had to take an exam and chose this center as it was the closest to me. I read through some of the reviews and they seemed alright. I braced myself for any kind of issues that might pop up from some of the negative reviews. I showed up, the guard in the lobby pointed me to the elevator, got to the center and everything was great. The receptionist was nice, thorough and got through visitors pretty efficiently. I showed up an hour early and they were able to accommodate me 30 minutes in. Once the intake process is complete, you're given a key to a locker where you can place your things and you wait to be called. The lockers aren't that big so don't bring a lot. I was able to fit a winter jacket in there by folding it in half. If you have a big book bag, good luck. The center is clean, the temperature is set pretty comfortably and the bathrooms are very clean. There's a water fountain in the office itself. To anyone that's complaining about how the center seems a little draconian when it comes to going into the testing rooms, this is actually due to how stringent some of the policies are by the governing body of certain exams. For the PMP, you HAVE to be searched. You can't take anything with you except your ID, key, medical "things", wedding jewelry and any religious items you wear. Once you pass the metal detector, they ask you to stand behind the red line, pull out all your pockets, roll up your sleeves and then roll up your pant legs. Once you clear that, you get lead to the testing area where someone will look at your ID, confirm you are who you are, give you whatever items you're allowed to take with you into the room (scrap paper etc) and then lead you to a pc. Once you're in and sitting down, your headphones (and noise canceling headphones) are to the right side of you, hung on the dividing wall between you and your neighbor. This was actually why I'm knocking this down to 4 stars because the person next to me kept going for the wrong set of headphones. It wouldn't have been so annoying if the cable wasn't always flying over onto the mouse/keyboard. If I had to schedule another test at a Prometric center, I'd come back here. read more

Prometric is a company offering large scale test administration services internationally, with multiple sites throughout the US. Their so-called Megacenters in NYC host computerized exams for multiple disciplines requiring exams. Pen and paper is already obsolete, but most electronic testing centers have been small, usually attached to other businesses (e.g., H & R Block). Prometric's are designed for greater capacity, with many sites. The 25th floor, Broadway location is relatively new. The check-in/waiting area is a bright, compact space but roomy enough, with a decent amount of seating. Upon check-in, get a numbered locker key. Once belongings are stowed and locked, take key and ID to the adjacent security door with metal detector. Once waved through by staff, a quick hands-off check is required (turn all pockets inside out, pull up pants legs above top of socks). Then escorted to a proctor station outside one of the exam rooms for additional check-in processes, glasses check, and exam specific briefing. Then escorted to a specific station in the testing room. Staff were uniformly professional and efficient. The testing station is comfortable, the room bright and cool. The stations have noise blocking headphones to block out distracting ambient noise and they work well. Any other specific instructions for an exam is reviewed at the terminal. After all, everyone else there may be taking completely different types of tests. Escorted breaks are allowed but time is not stopped and the security process must be repeated before re-entry. Prometric provides a good testing environment. Will recommend: - Bring as little as possible. Lockers are maybe H15xW8xD8" tops - Wear clothes with as few pockets as possible - Avoid jewelry, watches, Fitbits, or other accessories besides belts - Use the restrooms (on either side of elevators) before security - Dress warm if cold adverse, but keep it simple read more

I read some mixed reviews so I wasn't so sure about this place, but my overall experience was really good. I had my test at 1:00 and go there around 12. Make sure to get there early, because the entrance is super hard to find. Once you go in, the security guards will tell where you to go and they give you a badge to go through the turnstiles once you give them your ID. I went to the 25th Floor, and there's a long hallway between the bathrooms (next to the elevators) and the testing center. The bathrooms are made up of 3 stalls. Once you go into the testing center, there's plenty of chairs and a water fountain. It was very nice, quiet and clean. The lady at the front desk was very nice. You gave her your ID, she checked your name off on her list, and you had to sign a form that just stated the rules. Nothing crazy. The lady also gave me a key for my locker and just said to always keep the key and ID. The lockers themselves are tiny, so bring a bag. If you do have a jacket, you do have to hang it up. Once you put everything away, you have to go through a metal detector and this guy will ask you to search all of your pockets and roll up your sleeves (if you have them). Afterwards you get walked to a certain station in front of each room (there are about 4 of them). The lady at the station checked my ID, and made me sign in. She gives you a scrap booklet and two pencils. If you want tissues, you have to ask for them and leave them on your desk at all times. Every time you go in and out of the testing room you have to sign in and out and show your ID. Behind the station there's a glass window where you can see about 20 cubicles where the people are taking their tests. Each cubicle gives you enough room to take the test. There's a flat screen for the computer and noise-canceling earphones. You have to put your key, ID, tissues, pencils, and paper on the desk at all times. If you need more scrap paper, just raise your scrap paper above your head, and the lady will give you more. There are also cameras for each cubicle, so don't look around. As for the temperature, they state that the temperature is at 70-74 degrees Fahrenheit. I wore long pants, long sleeved shirt and a cardigan, and I was comfortable. Break: if you have to go on break, just leave the room and sign out. And QUICKLY walk to the bathroom or to your locker. Because then you'll have to go through the metal detector again and be searched. Overall, it was a very efficient testing process, and the whole space was nice and clean. If I have to take another test I will come here again. read more

TL;DR: quiet, bright, and all in all a pretty nice testing center. Took one star off as they don't answer their phones and it can be hard to get a hold of them before test day. To know: located on the 25th floor of the tallest building in Herald Square area; if you get lost, just walk down Broadway until you see a building that could potentially have 25+ floors and that's it. You present your ID to the front desk and get waved through to the elevators after a few mins. Walking into Prometric, there's a nice waiting area with low couches by a wall of windows, which has a lovely view downtown on a sunny day. Checking in requires filling out a form that takes about ~5 mins, as well as providing an ID that has your signature on it. The last part is very important as I tried to use a passport card and the woman got very confused. You get a key for a locker to put your things in, which is small. It fit my Longchamp bag that had a change of clothes, a full water bottle, and a 15" laptop, but definitely won't fit a full sized backpack. They are pretty relaxed about what you can bring in as long as it fits in the locker, so for those of you worried about bringing in phones or electronics - just know I was able to do it without an issue. You then take your key and ID through a very quick (almost perfunctory) security scan that takes all of 5 seconds, 10 if you're wearing glasses. The proctor then signs you into the classroom which actually took the longest time of all the security processes; I waited about 5 mins for the guy in front of me to get done. There was a sign on the door noting that the room is 72-74 degrees, but I was glad I brought a sweater because there was a fan that made things a little chilly. The noise canceling headphones also don't do much so I wouldn't rely on them if you're easily distracted. During breaks, the bathroom is down the hall and takes about a minute to walk to, and there's also a filtered water station right outside of the testing area for convenient hydrating during your break. During my 10 min break between GRE sections, I was able to drink water, go to the bathroom and be back in my seat within 5 mins. It's all very speedy and very efficient. Also, even though it's located in Herald Square, I couldn't hear anything in the building at all, and the sunny view was a good break in between my sections. Would recommend anyone taking a standardized test to come to this location. read more

Most people at this testing center are actually pretty decent; however i encountered this one woman who kept on letting the testing door slam behind her every time she came in and out of the room, which was literally every 5 minutes. I asked her to close the door quietly during my break and she immediately got an attitude with me. She was incredibly unprofessional and very unpleasant. People are there to take important exams and she clearly did not care at all. If i had to describe her as a person: Uneducated, self absorbed, selfish, and just an all around terrible human being. read more

I took the USMLE Step 1 exam here and had an excellent experience. The building is open before 7am and the upstairs opens at 7am. You can start early if you're there early. The staff were efficient and courteous and the room was a good temperature. The bathroom is down the hall. Highly recommend this place! read more

The process of checking in was easy to follow. People were polite. I got in , took my test and got out. I'd take a test here again.

Do not test at this location! They are awful. The people are nice and polite, but their whole process is horrible. They are way too overprotective/cautious about Covid. They make you wear a mask the whole time and threaten to kick you out if they give you 2 warnings. I have terrible allergies so the mask makes me very congested and therefore prevents me from breathing comfortably, which is why I choose not to wear it. Also, because of my allergies, I require a decent amount of tissues to blow my nose every half hour or so. However!!! When you ask for a tissue they say you can only take 2?!?!? This is completely absurd behavior and it is almost unbelievable. When I sat for my test the other day, one of the employees interrupted me in the middle of my timed test to show me a postcard she wrote explaining to me that if I keep fidgeting with my mask (I kept pulling it out so I can get a couple normal breaths) that she will kick me out. I don't know who is threatening them so much that someone would voluntarily come up to me and say that, but clearly there is a very dangerous person threatening their lives because this behavior is abnormal. Additionally, they are completely understaffed, so it takes a decent amount of time to check in at arrival and also after your break. My test is 8 hours long and I only get one 15 minute break in between. Due to them being so slow/understaffed, it takes me 5 minutes alone just to check back in, which means I have only 10 minutes to eat and use the bathroom. In addition, because they are overly cautious with covid, their whole process takes even longer. In other words, when you get called to enter the testing room, they make sure your finger is sanitized before you scan it and they have to physically sanitize the area you were standing in, the door you touched, the scanner you used, and even the table you looked at while signing in. Worst of all!!!! They wear gloves and will use hand sanitizer on the gloves after each time they open the door for you. Again, absurd behavior! Aside from all that, the people really are nice and provide a pretty calm environment. read more

The building is nice. The staff were polite. However, the testing lab is impossibly loud. It's incredibly distracting. There's a ton of city noise outside, as if the walls are barely insulated. I heard a jackhammer at work for the entire duration of my exam. Also, certain test takers around me needed scrap paper for their tests. Try taking an exam with people scribbling loudly and crumpling paper all around you. It's like watching a movie with someone crinkling candy wrappers in your ear the whole time! A lot depends on your fellow test takers. There are some who make lots of noise, rock in their chair, tap their pens, let the door slam on their way out, etc. as though we're all in high school again. Except in high school, a teacher will tell you to cut that behavior out. Here, the proctors just sit outside and do nothing. It was exceptionally difficult to focus here, and I work in an environment where machines alarm and beep all day long. If I ever need to take a test with Prometric again, I will try Queens or Long Island. read more
