I had such a wonderful experience at the Prometric testing center in San Francisco! From the moment I walked in, everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional. I didn't catch the name of the wonderful woman who checked me in, but she was so warm and genuinely kind. A special thank you to Corey, who was at the desk before entering the testing room. He was incredibly friendly, patient, and reassuring. Taking an exam is already so nerve-racking, and it's easy to arrive feeling anxious. The kindness and positive attitude of the staff really helped put me at ease before walking into that inevitable testing room. It made a much bigger difference than you probably realize. Thank you, Corey, and the entire team, for creating such a welcoming environment and for treating every test taker with compassion and respect. Your professionalism and kindness did not go unnoticed, and I'm truly grateful. Keep up the amazing work! read more

Unfortunately, I had to take a dreaded exam and this specific Prometric location had the exam and date I was looking for. I was super nervous upon arrival, but staff was kind and had nothing but good vibes. The testing area and equipment itself is pretty standard. All in all, glad I ended up taking my exam here and thought it was slightly better than the other Prometric locations I've previously tested at. read more

By far the best Prometric I've tested at, and I've been to quite a few. The staff were exceptionally friendly and had great attitudes. The facility is modern, testing room has good temperature control. Conveniently located bathrooms right across the hall. There's also a MIXT right next door for a mid-test refuel! There are two testing rooms. A small one with about 8-10 testing stations and a large one with 16-20. And then one small testing room for people with accommodations. read more

The San Francisco location is incredibly rude and unwelcoming. Will not listen to your concerns, will talk over you. Unfortunately, Prometric has a monopoly over the exam I need to take. I would avoid them at all costs. read more

Great, respectful crew. Well run space, clean and quiet. Couldn't have tested at a better place. Thank you for helping me through this process and being kind. It's no easy feat dealing with nervous students. *Right off BART station, very convenient* read more

This is for the 100 California location in San Francisco: This place gets the job done but - really could improve on customer service and facilities. Both the front desk person and the 2nd person who takes you to the test room were very unfriendly to me and everyone else there. Test-takers are already nervous when they show up to take an exam and the staff really put everyone on edge by barking about blocking the door and then snapping at me for asking a question after saying I was ready to enter the test room. Agree with several other reviewers that the staff either need some customer service training or a different job. Then - towards the end of my exam - the staff were outside the not-noise-proof test area laughing and cracking each other up very LOUDLY. Very hard to concentrate. Don't think I should have to wear noise-cancelling headphones because the staff are hanging out outside the test room being loud. One tip: They let you take water in with you but ONLY if it's in a clear bottle. Wish I had known that ahead of time! My desk area was adequate but scratched up and very worn-looking. The parking I found nearby (where they recommend at One Embarcadero) was $37 for the 3 hours I was there and very crowded. Would only recommend going to this test center if you have no other choices. read more

100 California Street Location in SAN FRANCISCO: I was so nervous when I arrived and the staff calmed my nerves immediately. Every single person was a delight! The positive interactions I had with them put me in the perfect mindset to take my exam. All the staff seemed to get along great with each other too, seeing that puts me in a good mood. Give them all a raise! People: great and helpful. Locker size: not very tall but pretty deep. I was able to fit a tote bag, sweatshirt, water bottle, and snacks inside with lots of room to spare. Environment: it may vary, but I thought the room was the perfect temperature. I get cold easily so I'm glad the AC wasn't blasting. The noise level in the testing room was fine, only the clicks and clacks of other people at their computers. You also have access to noise cancelling headphones that work well. Chairs are comfortable. Bathroom: right across the hall. Very clean. Other: there is a water cooler that dispenses very cold water in the check in area. No need to stress about bringing a water bottle. read more

Took an exam here recently. The exterior door to the building stayed locked until just a few minutes before we were expected for the exam, which was a little anxiety- inducing on test day. Once we were in the center though, everything was very smooth. Professional, kind staff. Good test center. read more

Prometric in Miramar was the worst. the customer service was the worst I have ever seen. The evaluator had no personality very rude. They treated people waiting to take the exam like dogs. I was so embarrassed on their behavior. Prometric need to better evaluate the employees that work for them. Not a good environment. take the test somewhere else don't go there, they need a class in customer service. It makes me question their ability to evaluate test takers. read more

I am glad I read Yelp before going to the center. It let me know that I needed to dress in layers and bring earplugs. I use a power wheelchair and called ahead of time to see if there was any way I could still fit and take the test. They assured me that people in wheelchairs have taken the test. I mentally noted that they did not mention electric power wheelchairs, but I have been using mine for several years so I am used to having to think outside the boxes people put me in. The counter for me to pull into is NOT the correct height, nor is it flexible. Unfortunately my machine beeps when I turn it on, but the 20 other people in the room did not complain when I had to figure out how to tilt my chair to get my knees under the table and move far enough in to then place my chair's arm to be atop of the table. None of the human monitors complained that my chair was like a puzzle piece wrapped around the tabletop. The computer monitor was too far away to comfortably see the words, but I had my glasses and they helped. I gave five stars because they still let me take the test even if I was not a normal shaped or able bodied person. Of course I know it is the law, but if they did not want to accommodate me, I am sure they could have found a legitimate reason to kick me out. read more

I took my USMLE on June 9th. This fateful day was held at this Prometric Testing Center. The staff was nice and I didn't have any major issues. The only thing is that I wish they had seated me at a station that did not face the door because every time the door opened, my brain sensed the change in visual stimuli and my attention was misdirected at times. If this is something that might bother you too, maybe you should request to sit facing away from the door. There are lockers that already have locks/keys ready for you. The bathrooms are outside of the lobby. The USMLE is a challenging exam, damn. I hope that you don't sit next to loud typists and sneezers. Good luck! read more

The facility was convenient (close to work) and clean. It was a bit hot/stuffy...what downtown/windowless building doesn't have air? They were having problems with their testing system (computer issues? Never made clear) so my test was delayed. I can't give more than a single star (would like to give less). They have a captive audience (can't test elsewhere) and the service and delivery reflect this. Given a choice, I'd go elsewhere. read more

Working with Prometric has been an absolute nightmare. Not only that but after doing some research I found that they are the only ones in the state of California that can administer the NMLS licensing test. So you HAVE to deal with them. 1) It took MONTHS just to get an exam date. I logged in at various times on various days for weeks and religiously there were 1200-1375 people ahead of me in the queue. Every time before the queue would be diminished enough for me to schedule an exam date it would time out. This started in May 2020. It went on so long that I had to put this on hold because I needed to renew my driver's license so I could have a current, signed, photo ID. I was finally able to schedule my exam in December 2020 for January 7th, 2021. This ended up working out well because at this time they were offering at home proctored exams when before only on site exams were offered. 2) I logged in 15 minutes early ( as recommended, and it's just good practice) to make sure that I had adequate time to download their program, make sure that my computer met their specifications, and follow the directions for their identity verification. Everything was fine. At 10:45am (my scheduled test time) a proctor did come on. She was unable to hear me, but I was able to hear her. I communicated this to her in the chat provided. She explained to me that "protocol dictates that I must be able to hear you." I AM NOT SURE THIS DOESN'T VIOLATE THE AMERICAN'S WITH DISABILITIES ACT AS IT DISCRIMINATES AGAINST MUTES! I asked her if there was a hot line I could call or if she could call my cell phone to establish verbal contact, or if there was another protocol in place to remedy the issue. Apparently I'm the only person to ever have this issue because she stated "I have to ask my superiors what to do". I said that's fine and waited. I was then kicked out of the test. 3) I restarted the program twice and was not able to log back in. It was now 15-20 minutes past my test time so I wasn't sure if it was a software issue on their end, or if I was locked out because of the tardiness. I used the chat option provided for technical support. It was useless. It told me to simply restart the program, which I had already done more than once. 4) I found a customer service number online. NOTHING WAS PUBLISHED IN THE CONTACT US SECTION, I HAD TO SEARCH FOR IT ONLINE. I dialed the number and while I was on hold I completed the text fields in the contact us section of their website. I received an email shortly that let me know they would respond in 5-7 business days. My call was finally taken, but the only option was to complete automated prompts, and they kept encouraging you to visit the website. I was never able to reach a person. 5) I finally found a phone number for their corporate offices. I called that number and a receptionist put me in touch with an actual human to reschedule my test date due to technical issues. After being on hold for about 15 minutes ( not too bad considering long wait times) a representative took my call. I explained to her what the issue was. She had the audacity to become frustrated with ME because I asked her a few times what could be done to circumvent the issue of the proctor not being able to hear me, should it happen again. She informed me that my account had been reset and that I needed to go online to reschedule my test date. She also gave me a website for their tech support people (whom I'd already contacted before calling her). 6) I logged in to reschedule my test. I was greeted with a notice that my test was CANCELLED! I thought that maybe the representative's request for reset of my account had not been processed yet so I walked away for an hour to allow time for the reset. 7) I logged in again ( 3 hours after the start of this constantly escalating demonstration in avoidance and incompetence) only to find out that my test was still marked as CANCELLED. 8) I called the corporate headquarters a second time. The receptionist answered and said all she could do was transfer me to the rescheduling department. I begrudgingly accepted. I was transferred to the wrong department. The young man that ended up with me gave me the direct phone number for the correct department before transferring me. He hung up on me instead of transferring me. 9) I called the direct line for the rescheduling department. After being on hold for another 15 minutes a rep took my call and I and asked to speak to a manager or supervisor because the last rep I spoke to not only failed to remedy the issue but contributed to a ridiculously awful experience by becoming down right snippy. I was told that I should contact the complaint department after rescheduling with her. I said that would be fine. We rescheduled my appointment for the next available day (Monday) and a time that would work. She then gave me the direct line to the complaint department and which prompts to hit should the transfer of my call not read more

Nice and clean testing facility with friendly staff! I came here to take the food protection manager exam and they let me start as soon as I arrived! took ASE recert tests for my job at the test center in fresno Ca, this was the most horrible situation that I've ever experienced! I didn't feel comfortable nor safe. The staff was slow and rude, didn't clearly explain all of the procedures to check in. At times, both women were talking to me at the same time because I didn't do something exactly correct. When I got frustrated, one of them threatened me with expulsion. There were supposed to give me a document that explained every single procedure for checking in, they didn't. So, I wasn't informed of what I was supposed to do. The biggest issue that caused me anxiety was having to stand in front of a camera and put hands in pants pockets to prove to whomever that I didn't have anything in them. What do they do with the pictures afterwards? I don't know. This company is a world wide group, and many occupations in the USA use them to do various testing for different certifications. In alot of cases, we are forced to endure this mess. read more

Just took the real GRE here yesterday. All the proctors were friendly and encouraging (!!! One of them congratulated me on the way out!) They have you sign off on a paper & take a picture for the real exam. Was able to report my scores with no issue. I'm bummed other people had difficult experiences here. I asked for extra scratch paper by holding the paper in the air and got it almost instantly. The headphones still worked really well for blocking typing noises. The only thing I'd say is that conversations sometimes carry over from the proctors' room and the front desk - but the headphones were enough to keep the sound out. One star off for the DMV-style pixelated camera pic they used (j/k). Really hoping I won't have to deal with standardized testing again, but if/when I do, I'll come back here. read more

This is less of a review as an informational post. I took the updated version of the GRE. As others have said, the testing center is just a couple of blocks away from the Embarcadaro Bart Station so it's easy to get to. The streets of SF can be a little confusing so bring a map. The building itself is unremarkable and easily missed. Just go to intersection of California and Davis and look for the 24 Hour Fitness since it is in the same building. The door you want to go through is across from a stepped seating / planter area shown in one of the posted pictures. There is a silver "100" over the door. Once you go through the doors, check in with the guard. He has a list of testers and can point you in the right direction (which is to the left side of the guard's desk). The testing center is on the ground floor so DON'T take the elevators. There is a silver door to the left of the elevators (also shown in one of the posted pictures). Go through the door (no need to wait for someone to open it for you) and you'll be in a hallway. Start walking down paying attention to the doors to the left and right. After a short walk, you'll come to two doors facing each other. To the right will be a men's bathroom and the Prometric testing center door will be to the right. Go through the appropriate door ;-) Once you go through the Prometric door, you'll be at the reception desk. There will be a receptionist there who will ask for your ID (look on the ETS website for acceptable ID) and you will be given a form to fill out. On the form, you'll be asked to read a bunch of rules, then you have to hand write a paragraph of text in cursive. So dust off those elementary grade cursive writing skills because you are going to need it to complete the form. Once you copy the paragraph and sign the form, turn it in to the receptionist. The proctors will then ask you to empty all your pockets and put all the things you brought, into a small locker which uses a key for access. I'd estimate the locker is about 10 inches X 10 inches x 15 inches deep. Put everything you brought in the locker with two exceptions: 1) your ID and 2) you can bring set of FOAM earplugs. You can NOT bring in your cell phone (duh), wallet, or even your own tissues. Pencils and a booklet used as scratch paper will be supplied to you. They will make you turn out your pockets, "wand" you, and record your entry time (you'll need to sign in and out of the testing center if you exit the testing area). You will then be ushered into the actual testing area. The proctor will pick a seat for you. There will be a standard tower-type computer with a 15 inch LCD screen attached. There is also one sound headset attached to the computer and one noise-proof headset. I also brought in my own earplugs. As mentioned before, only earplugs made of foam will be allowed into the testing room. I actually wore both my earplugs and their noise-proof headset. Very quiet in combination though the headset was too small for my giant head so it started being painful to wear after a couple of hours.. If you are sensitive to noise like I am, you will definitely want to use at least one of these methods to block noise because there is a lot of click-clicking of keyboard typing. As for the test itself, just follow the directions on the screen. I will mention that though the test is timed, there are dead spots between test sections in the form of confirmation pages you can use for breaks. I haven't done a long test in a while so it was quite the marathon for me. And yes, the ability to move back and forth between questions is great but you have to be very vigilant about your time. Hope this helps someone. read more

This is where I'm currently taking the CPA Exam. It is conveniently located right off Bart and around several major Muni buslines. The facilities are very professional- right when you walk in, the security guard can usually tell who is taking a test at Prometric vs. who has business elsewhere in the building. You'll check in, usually with a "good luck" as a parting word. I apprecite that the facility provides both noise cancelling headphones and ear plugs. The last thing I need while taking a test is to hear the clicking of the keyboard of the guy down the row from me. The test center itself has extremely high security. You will need to turn all pockets inside out before getting fingerprinted. AND you will need to be re-finger printed every time you re-enter the testing room (i.e. if your coming from a bathroom break) to make sure your evil twin didn't take the exam for you. They also take your photograph before the exam. I do agree with one of the other reviewers- it would be nice to have more staff checking in people during the busier times. But I usually try to come at least 45 minutes earlier to beat the rush. read more

Initially, I chose this Prometric testing center for the location. But I continued to use the center because they provide exceptional customer service and nothing has ever gone wrong. When you're taking a professional exam, you shouldn't be thinking of the equipment or anything else aside from the exam. The facility is well maintained. Nothing has ever gone wrong with the computers, lighting, noise, or anything else. The people who greet and check in the candidates are extremely professional. They know exactly what to do and they are efficient in doing it. They check you in and walk you to the testing computer. Once they confirm that you can log in, they leave you alone. Perfect. I've used this location for all sections of my exam and I couldn't be happier. read more

Pro metric is actually a really clean testing center. Taking tests like the GRE can be really intimidating and the staff here was super friendly. 1. Not a lot of parking in the area it's located in a really big building. 2. Super clean inside, women's restroom has two stalls. 3. Doesn't open until 7:30 am, there is no where to sit before then. 4. Good lockers to keep your stuff in during the test. 5. Staff was friendly and I was super nervous. 6. The testing center in general is really awesome, clean an quiet. The only thing was the parking. Pros- easy to get to. Staff were relatively friendly. Cons- - Security in this place is worse than TSA. Seriously. - Monitors on which I took the GRE were older than I am. Not only that, the one I was stuck with did not dim the brightness of the screen, giving me a blistering headache two hours into the test. - You cannot drink in the testing area. Meaning- you cannot bring a water bottle into the cubicle area. - Oh, there are about 20 cubicles- and although they give you "ear muffs"( think about the hard plastic uncomfortable kind that someone using a jackhammer would use) the constant opening and closing of the door and people moving around is distracting. - You have to sign in and out and show your ID every time you leave the room. I mean, I understand it could be a policy, but honestly unless you are drinking Polyjuice potion it would be damn difficult to turn into another person in the duration of a bathroom visit. read more

I took the GRE here earlier this week. It's easy to get to on public transport and easy to find, so I'd recommend it as a venue for testing (given that you don't have much choice about doing the tests!). The building is undergoing some renovation work at the moment, so when you get from the lobby into the corridor that leads to the Prometric suite, it is mainly plasterboard! Inside the suite is alright, though, and there are no noises from the construction disturbing you in the testing room (although I did take my own foam earplugs). The staff were polite and explained things clearly to me. It was also very speedy checking in. I was supposed to take the test at midday, but I arrived 45 minutes early and they didn't bat an eyelid, but just switched me to a free machine. I only left the testing room once, but they were swift and respectful with wanding me before I went back in. The only problem I ran into was being told that I wasn't allowed to take my sweater off in the testing area! Given that ETS advises you to dress in layers "so that you can adapt to any room temperature", this seemed to be nonsense to me, unless we are expected to remove/add layers quickly and run out to the lockers to dispose of/retrieve clothes during the 60 second breaks between sections! read more

I've come here twice in the past year - both for board exams - and as much as the tests elicit slight heart rate increase, the place made for a good testing environment. The facilities are clean and the staff is pretty friendly overall. You get pat down and a metal detector run around your body (just to make sure you didn't bring your gun) and then you're led into your testing station. I will say the last time I came, the air conditioning was a little stronger than I would have liked (or maybe I sat under the vent) so make sure you dress in layers (you should be doing that anyways). The alternative is another testing facility close by which I wasn't too fond of. Park in the Embarcadero garages a block away, though it's rather pricey. read more

Aside from the 2 friendly people that worked there, I hate this place. The construction didn't even really bother me bc I had ear plugs AND the headphones on. A few things: the old lady who checked us all in had a horrible attitude, like god forbid we're all about to take a 7 hour test (MCAT) and we can't scan our finger print correctly so you give us attitude (IT WAS ALSO 8AM CMON). Also, when I got out I was so overwhelmed and just wanted to go home that I forgot my ID there. Lucky for me, they were able to find it & keep it nice & safe but I had to call 3 separate times, on 3 separate days, for them to tell me 1) we can't mail it to you 2) no, your brother that lives in SF can't pick it up for you 3) only you can get it. The girl couldn't even tell me all of that the first time I called. Never again choosing this place. read more

I found out this place was on yelp (what isn't, I guess) when pulling up directions. It's pretty much what you'd expect from a place where people take a bunch of tests in front of a computer--bland, looks like a generic office space, and perfectly serviceable. I mostly just think it's amusing that a) this place is on yelp, and b) people have strong opinions about testing sites. I took the GRE here; it was fine. Parking is expensive (although a fraction of the price of the test), but that's not the test center's fault--I'm not sure what people expect when they book a spot in downtown SF. They even provide noise canceling headphones if the click-clack of essay typing really grinds your gears. read more

I took my test at this center recently, this is the worst test center ever! The employees working at the center lobby were wildly chatting, laughing with each other, that so loud I could hear it inside the testing room, hence I had ear noice block head set on my ear!!! they totally don't care how critically their job duty affecting test taker, they gave me the mark pen that was so used, almost ran out ink, and was so bold because of overly used, should already thrown in trash. The woman who was signed me in test center was totally UNFRIENDLY, with a mad attitudes! I would not suggest anyone take test at this center, better this center or change staffs or close up, because these staffs are ruining test taker's future and career. Horrible experience. I took an RPLU exam here recently and passed with 100%. I waitied for my RPLU designation and never received it. I called PLUS to find out what happened and they advised that Prometric never sent them my testing result so they have no record of me passing. I had to locate my passing document, which shows 100% and was stamped by Prometric. I sent this to PLUS, and only at that point did Prometric acknowledge that it was a computer mistake. But they did not even have the business acumen to accept responsibility. Prometic blamed the problem on some other nameless computer company. So, after $140 testing fee they cant even get it reported correctly or even accept responsibility. I would avoid this testing center like the plague, if possible. Take your test elsewhere. read more

OMG - they don't answer the phone or return messages. I even mentioned this to the guy when i took my test. He was holding a phone at the time and his answer was "we're not a call center." Nothing. It's next to impossible to get a person through the national number as well. Just crappy customer service. Facilities were fine. Staff in person was just OK. Worst place ever. If you can take your test anywhere else, you should. You don't need the stress of taking your test here. No one ever answers the phone or returns phone messages. My boyfriend was scheduled to take his dental boards here and week and a half before the exam had his backpack with his wallet and most forms of ID stolen. He immediately went to the DMV seeking a replacement driver license and they told him the soonest he would receive it was two weeks. He called the testing center several times daily and left too many messages to count and they never once returned his calls. The day before his exam, I went in on his behalf (because I work down the block) and explained the situation. I had him on my cell phone while I went into the office so that they could speak with him directly and they REFUSED. I explained what remaining forms of ID he had, among them were a temporary driver license, his student photo ID, an expired passport (government issued ID nonetheless), and a few credit cards with his name and signatures on them. They declined all of these forms of ID or to provide any type of help or service. How else can someone prove that they are who they say they are??? Their only suggestion was to contact the board, which they gave an 800 number for. NOT HELPFUL! He then contacted the DMV again to find out what else could be done by way of government issued ID's. They told him that there is a letter they can give him, which is specifically for testing centers and Prometric still would not accept it! Luckily, the duplicate license that he ordered from the DMV came through the same day as all of this stressful BS was taking place. Had that not happened, his life would have been drastically changed. Eff you Prometric. read more
