She and her team have a nice, quiet shop on the 2nd floor above the Dierberg's at the Olive & 141... before going we never noticed there is a second floor above the Dierberg's, but there is a second floor with quite a few various offices up there. We tend to get couples massages, often on Saturday afternoons, but this time my wife picked Friday evening, which was a good motivator to get out of work. Bought a living social deal for a couples massage (1 hour each). I booked 2 ashiatsu sessions for next month, had no problems getting through on the phone. The girl who scheduled was pleasant, but not very knowledgeable about the service. I have some concern about this business.. she was featured on living social 2 or 3 times, and now I see on craigslist she is advertising for therapists.. makes me wonder about her level of standards as far as hiring processes go.. I made sure to make our appointments with the actual owner, Rhonda. I will update this review after our session and see how it goes.. I am VERY picky, and am a massage connoisseur. I will definitely give an honest review. But man, I hope it's good! Had our appointments.. and they were ok. The therapist was dressed WAY to casual to look professional (graphic t shirt and sweatpants? She is the OWNER. I know she does hard work for a living, but it was not a good look or good first impression.) I was kinda grossed out to see dirt on the floor and then spent my massage feeling dirty as she stepped off a stool onto the floor.. and then back on my skin.. I took a shower when I got home. The pressure was good, but the massage itself was average. Basic long strokes, felt like she was bored and uninterested. She rushed me out afterwards. No relaxation area here. However, My BF said his massage was good, and the place looked clean to him, so maybe I had her on a bad day? We may give this place one more chance. read more

Maria is relatively new at Prolong Symmetry but is an extremely experienced and Excellent therapist! Before we began she initiated a conversation about any problem-areas I was experiencing and incorporated extra focus on those areas as she gave me a wonderful massage that was simultaneously relaxing and highly therapeutic. Her knowledge of anatomy was extensive and she encouraged feedback, though she was so intuitive about my body's response to the massage that I didn't feel much need to comment other than to shower her with compliments. Prolong Symmetry has been a wonderful source of several truly spectacular therapists and Maria is no exception. If you can't get on Rhonda's schedule, do try Maria! So far, not so good. I've called about 7 times between scheduling and needing to reschedule. Only once has it not gone to voicemail. I've left two messages but have not received a call back. Methinks they need a receptionist. A good massage can make up for this, but that's only if I go ahold of them before my upcoming appointment. read more

Tried ashiatsu (where the therapist uses mostly their feet) about 2 yrs ago elsewhere and enjoyed it. So when I found a Groupon for here, I thought I'd give it a go. Rhonda (the owner) was simply AMAZING! I have now gone 4-5 times and plan to keep going back regularly! This technique allows for very deep pressure (if you like) and long strokes. So much better than the standard Swedish massage using hands and forearms. For example, instead of a bit of work on your upper back then a bit of work on your lower back, she can work on the entire back at once with strokes going from shoulder to lower back. The office location (in a strip mall) clearly keeps overhead costs down for this small business - which keeps prices much more affordable for me than, say a salon or spa. The office itself is basic - a waiting area and a few rooms. The rooms have always been clean and comfortable (warm even in the coldest weather). A bottle of water after would be a nice touch, though. Rhonda is always professionally dressed - though perhaps more similar to a yoga instructor since the massage requires her to move around a lot. (Certainly not "way too casual", though, as suggested in an earlier review). She always cleans her feet (and hands) before and after the massage using some kind of antiseptic spray. There is also a carpet (and/or maybe towels) that surround the base of the massage table making a kind of "no-shoes" or "bare-feet only" zone - this creates a clean space for her to move around that is separate from the rest of the floor. Look, if your top criteria are a water-feature, relaxation room, and slate tiles - then there are numerous massage chains, salons and spas all offering the same plain massages. Also if you have feet issues then maybe not-so-much. However, if you're willing to try something new and want a fantastic, deep, relaxing massage then get an ashiatsu massage (from the owner Rhonda)! read more

We went in today--we made the appointment online (when I called, no one answered, but online worked great) and when we got there we were greeted in a friendly manner. If I lived in St. Louis - I would be at Prolong Symmetry once a week! My husband and I went to visit family and decided a massage in the middle of the visit would be a good idea. Found Rhonda and decided to give Ashiatsu massage a try. My husband was skeptical given that Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is when the massage therapist uses their feet to massage but wow! what an amazing massage and experience. Rhonda takes her time, explains what she is doing, and then be prepared for one of the (if not the) best massages in your life. It really seems like by using the feet she could work more deeply in some of the muscles than any massage either of us ever had. I came to here about this place through Groupon. And I did have some trouble scheduling my massage. I tried calling on a Friday morning - no one answered, so I left a message. When I hadn't heard anything back by the following Tuesday afternoon, I tried calling again. Again, no answer and I left another message. Well, when I still hadn't heard anything by Friday, I figured I should give their website a try. It seemed self-explanatory enough, so I booked my appointment online. It allowed me to pick the person and the style. Then they showed me the available dates. Between their busy schedule and mine, I booked about two weeks out. Having everything booked, I thought that was that. But a couple days after that I got a phone call from them (finally??). They were now ready to help me book a massage. When I told the lady on the phone that I had just booked it on-line, she offered to check/confirm my date and time. I took her up on that offer and I'm sure glad I did, because she didn't see it in her system! However, thank goodness she was able to still get me on the same date at the same time! So, after all that phone tag, I was really hoping that the massage itself would be far more relaxing and less crazy. And it certainly was! The massage was great!!! Picked up two coupons from a Living Social.com deal. The place is located way in the back of a mostly abandoned office center in a strip mall so that gave me a bit of a creepy feeling. The rooms looked slapped together in a hurry as if this was a very cheap/temporary operation set up. No changing room, not even a hook for my clothes...just had to pile them on the floor. The massage itself was pretty basic / straightforward and better than some I've had elsewhere but the cheap thrown together poster "atmosphere" kept me from fully enjoying the experience. Trying to book on-line is a real hassle as they go through some 3rd party web site you have to sign up on then select the date of your coupon offer and surprise, not a lot of appoint flexibility. It appears as if most people are booked up when in reality they are not. If you choose to book as just a walk in without the coupon all of a sudden a lot more therapists and times are available. Don't know about you but I can't do this at 1:30 on a Tuesday...I work for a living too. Very few evening options open so I'll have to book way out to use this last coupon. I have been going to Prolong Symmetry now for over 4 years. I have nothing but good things to say. Rhonda never fails to pay close attention to any musculoskeletal problem I am experiencing, and shape the massage around that issue. We are respectful of each other...we are both always on time! I am always impressed with the continuing training and educations she seeks. And the new things made available to clients....yoga, cupping,etc. Such a different experience than going somewhere where each massage is the same on every person. I first tried Prolonged Symmetry years ago due to debilitating neck pain. I have stayed with Rhonda ever since and no other massage therapist since then has ever come close to her healing touch. She is extremely knowledgeable on muscles and how the body works; how pain can affect how you feel both mentally and physically. I had purchased a couples massage coupon through Groupon and my husband and I just used it over the weekend. Let me tell you, it was absolutely fantastic. Very professional place, very inviting, just overall a great positive atmosphere and the massage was so relaxing. We were so tired the rest of the day all we wanted to do was sleep. My husband got the ashiatsu massage (where they walk on your back) and he wants to make a standing appointment he loved it so much. I got the deep tissue massage and it was so nice. This was the worst massage I have ever gotten. I came in feeling fine and left with an awful headache (a first for me). There were pretty much only two options: barely touching my skin or jamming an elbow into a pressure point and keeping it there for a few minutes. I asked for a few different things, but it always came right back to those two options. What a waste of money and time. read more

My experience was similar to the one given by Will D. I also bought two Groupons for an Ashiatsu massage for my girlfriend and I but was sorely disappointed when I could not get a hold of anyone on the phone to make an appointment. I bought the Groupons a year ago and had been trying to schedule appointments every few months (albeit not as often as I would like now that I am not in St. Louis anymore) but was never able to. Thankfully Groupon's customer service is great and I just received my credit back from them today. My advice to others is to be patient when using Groupons, you never know when you may get a lemon. read more

I have bought multiple Living Social and Groupons to Prolong Symmetry for myself and my wife. I like the fact that you can book appointment online and it makes it much more convenient for me than making a phone call to try and schedule. I have always gotten the Ashiatsu massage and being a massage therapist myself I can say that I have always had a great massage. Rhonda does a great job and I have multiple issues with my back. I walk out of the appointments feeling better and wanting to book another appointment. read more

My experience was terrible from the first phone call. I purchased a massage for me and one for my husband through Living Social. I called and scheduled us both on the same night and time. When I received an email reminder, I realized they only had one massage scheduled. I called and spoke with Rhonda and there wasn't immediate availability for 2 at the same time so she was suppose to check with one of the therapist and call me back. Did not get a return call so I called again and due to scheduling conflicts and the holiday season we had to schedule in January 2015. She was aware that was beyond my Living Social coupon expiration date and said they would honor it. I received a call 45 minutes before our appointment and was told since the coupon was expired, our message would only be for 30 minutes. I reviewed the previous scheduling issues and said I paid for an hour. She said she could call Living Social that she wasn't sure if they would refund since it was beyond the expiration date. Thinking about it now, it seems they may have been over booked with a full paying customer. I replied that I would call Living Social and post this review. I immediately called customer service and explained my experience with this vendor. He put me on hold and tried to reach them unsuccessfully three times. This was just 10 minutes after she called me. Thankfully Living Social's customer service is great and I received my credit back from them the next day and the representative called me directly to tell me and helped me book with another vendor.
