I had the pleasure of having Mike Martin be my instructor for the PMP Prep Exam course and I was so lucky.

I've been going to this gym since January and honestly I couldn't be happier…read more Before joining, my friend and I took intro classes from a number of crossfit gyms in the area. We wanted to get a feel for the facilities, the coaching/trainers, the intensity of the workouts, and the overall culture of the gym before signing up. I can honestly say that this is the best gym that I've ever been a member of. The coaches really know their stuff and preach proper form and fundamentals. They're supportive and encouraging. It really does feel like a community over there. Although I have played sports my whole life and an avid gym-goer I was new to crossfit. They were and are very patient with me and really try to help me from getting discouraged if I have trouble with complex lifts or exercises. The facility is pretty nice and has all of the essentials of the crossfit gyms. And the members over there are cool too. It's a good crowd and people are always rooting for you to finish workouts and hit performance goals. And the workouts are the toughest, most intense workouts I've ever taken part in. And I trained in boxing for 3 years and have tried various workouts along the way. I also noticed that the monthly and yearly rates are very competitive to the other gyms that we checked out. I would definitely recommend this gym, or at the very least to check it out and see if it's something you'd be interested in. They have a free intro class. A++++

South Charlotte Crossfit is the real deal. I would highly recommend this box over and over again. I…read morejoined initially because I'd heard great things about crossfit from anyone I knew who belonged to a box. SCCF was close to my house, the price was great, and a friend from school went there and he loved it. I ended up moving about 20 minutes further away a few months after signing up. My new house was less than a mile from a different box but continued to go to SCCF because of the programming, coaches, and athletes. The owners and coaches are amazing. They truly care about every athlete that comes to the box no matter their skill level. The programming is well thought out and properly executed. There is a method to the madness. The class sizes are manageable for the coaches to teach while still making sure athletes are performing proper movements. They will make you decrease weight to avoid injury if form breaks down. For me one of the things that makes SCCF so great is the community. Like I said earlier with the coaches not choosing to only give attention to those upper level athletes, the people in the box are the same. Everyone is so friendly and willing to give you tips if you are doing something wrong or just could be doing a lift better with a little advice. There are some really amazing athletes at South Charlotte and for me personally instead of getting down on myself about not being anywhere near their skill level, I used it as motivation to keep going because everyone has to start somewhere. If you live in Charlotte or just happen to be passing through, drop-in and try a class, you won't be sorry you did!

She was very motivational and also helped us adjust our resistance throughout the class. What I enjoyed about her the most is that she made everyone feel special. There was a mix of beginners and veterans of Pilates in our class and she made sure everyone felt comfortable with every movement - and helping when needed. Most of my workouts are high intensity so the change of pace was great for me! But don't get me wrong - the class was a workout! I felt stronger than ever - working in slow movements and challenging myself with each stretch. Additionally Lindsay's playlist was on point. We were able to relax and make this workout our OWN and focus on OUR strength. In addition, the studio was very charming. It's got boutique vibes, but includes all the necessities like bathrooms, showers, a changing room and some swag to purchase. Overall I was very impressed with this studio and the instructor. I felt empowered and refreshed after my workout and I can't wait to schedule another class!

I was expecting your standard workout class sessions, but was delightfully surprised with the thought and care out into every part of this gym. The workouts are all strategically planned (a year in advance) to ensure proper recovery and maximum output is received. The gym are clean with great equipment I probably wouldn't try elsewhere (ski urg, slide boards, boxing, rowing, etc). And the most important part for me- the trainers and staff are SO helpful and friendly. They positively support me and help me to adjust my form when needed, while respecting that I'm getting back into the swing of things. The slow movements with an emphasis on proper form and technique are what has me wanting to keep coming back.

What a great first time at Bar Method!!!…read more It's the new year and I've said for YEARS that I need to either join a yoga studio or go back to a bar class. I currently go to a gym but let's face it...I am getting up there in age and I can't be squatting jumping and pivoting like the young peeps anymore. They have three different themes (my current gym) so I'm only going to the strength focused classes. I need something else additional. I knew there was a barre studio near me so site unseen, I signed up for a small package online. Hahaha! When ya know..ya know, ya know? (Ha!) Like my first time at a barre class 9 years ago, I was slightly petrified. I'll be the new girl...who's 9 ft tall...who's not flexible at all. I knew I would stick out like a purple unicorn in a zoo (omg lol my description is hilarious so let's go with it) but honestly I am so determined to do more for myself and health I just had to breathe through that fear and I'm glad I did. Walked into a BEAUTIFUL space and was greeted. The instructor and the receptionist were both nice. They showed me the ropes and into class I went. The class was so good and just what I needed. Fast, efficient and brutal. Those 2 lbs weights start to feel like 10 lbs quickly. There are lockers, locker room and tons of merchandise. Beautiful and clean and calm space!! If you are looking to try it, just close your eyes, buy the class and GO! Your muscles and mental health will thank you later!

But I am not naturally flexible and I hate being reminded of that so I don't really want to pay for it. Thankfully, Yoga on Tap came along offering free classes with a different instructor from an actual studio each week. OMB really makes use of its spacious lawn and it keeps getting more and more crowded, which is amazing because when it first started, it was in it's old location and had only enough room for about 1/4 of the current class size. If you are an experienced Yogi, you are probably not going to like it because you don't get much individual attention and there are potential distractions galore. But if you are like me and want to use it to get a good stretch (coincidently falls on a morning run day for me), increase flexibility, or enjoy a new physical activity, you should definitely check it out. Being outside in the gorgeous Charlotte weather, in a low key class where you are guided but free to do your own thing according to your ability, and the opportunity for a beer before or after or even during class are some great pluses to checking this out. Get there between 6 and 6:15 to park and get your mat down.
