I normally use Yelp for reviews on food establishments. However, with what's going on in the world today, when a company's actions are just absurdly wrong, I have to speak on it.
I applied for this company 3 weeks ago. I have a resume that is strong within a customer service background of over 23 years. The hiring process was very thorough and manageable up until a job offer was presented. Obviously, companies want to do their due diligence when performing a background check, as far as criminal history and verifiable employment goes. However, currently in the world that we live in, there is a severe health crisis with the coronavirus going on. Medical practitioners of ALL fields have stated and urged individuals to stay away from hospitals, quick cares, and other facilities that do any type of specimen collecting, as these places would greatly increase your chances of contracting this deadly virus. When I took the liberty to contact the hiring manager and explain not only my concerns, but those reiterated by my medical doctor, I was met with a response that can only be deemed foolish and a severe lack of common sense. Part of the hiring process at this company is for individuals to take a urinalysis for drug use. And I have absolutely no problem with that, as you want to hire the best, and any type of narcotic or alcohol use would not get you the right candidate. I made the suggestion, then instead of going to a facility that would drastically increase your chances of contracting the virus, that they should actually do the drug testing on site at their offices. In the past, I have done this practice in my supervisor positions for the companies I've worked for, and that would greatly decrease any chance of further outbreak. Again, the response I received when I voiced these concerns was just ridiculously ignorant. "We certainly understand your concerns, but this is our policy" was beyond shocking.
Might I suggest to this company moving forward, that you put experienced individuals in decision-making roles that are at least the age of 40 or over, and have some type of human resource background. Having young individuals in decision-making roles that read bylaws instead of looking at crisis situations with a common-sense approach based around safety is just a shortcoming that needs to be brought to light. This company is dangerously operating with little or no concern for employee health. And in my 35 years of being in the workforce, this is a place that I absolutely 100% would not want to work. Terrible is putting it nicely when a company shows ZERO concern for their employees or potential employees well being. read more
