My wife was transferred from Clara Mass hospital for rehabilitation from a surgical procedure. She was place with long time patients where there is 1 nurse per approximately 30 patients. My spouse was on 24 hour oxygen and did not receive oxygen for nearly 7 hours upon her arrival at Alaris and when they provided the tank it was not even turned on. She was also to have 2 nebulizer treatments done which were never given. My wife had called me multiple times claiming she was having difficulty breathing which made me go directly to the facility to figure out what was going on. Upon arriving to her floor I was greeted by a assistant nurse who's feet were up on the desk while texting someone. When I asked where my wife's room was, she acted as if I was rudely interrupting her!!! When I went into my wife's room it was quite clear the was no oxygen available to her. I then proceeded to ask the nurse why my wife was not on oxygen and why she did not receive her treatments? She replied "it's not my problem I just got on"! I was floored to say the least. When speaking to their so called head nurse, she immediately went and spoke with the acting nurse for my spouse. They actually got into a verbal fight right in front of everyone! Needless to say they supplied my wife with a oxygen tank and had her medication for her nebulizer treatments BUT HAD NO FUNCTIONAL MACHINES to administer her treatments!!! When I started to get a little upset with the situation, I was immediately dismissed by all the staff there in regards to my wife's treatment. The situation was so bad my wife was laboring to breath and 911 was called by myself to have her transferred back to the hospital where she was immediately put in ICU because of her oxygen being dangerously low! When the police and medics got there, it was made very clear that no oxygen was coming from the tank provided by the facility If you truly care for your loved ones, chose a facility other then this one! In my opinion, they are rude, incompetent and severely understaffed to where they cannot properly care for their patients! This facility actually sent a certified letter stating my spouse was transported due to pain!

She asked one of the floor aides to help her get out of bed in which the aide told my grandma that she is too fat. My grandma then asked the aide if she can call a nurse in to help her instead. The aide walked away, ignoring her request. My parents and aunt have been going there DAILY just to make sure my grandmother is actually being taken care of. I am baffled that a place like this is still open and treating patients. I cannot imagine being a patient here with no one to advocate for you. If a hospital is looking to send one of your family members here, please, please, reconsider. Finding a place other than this one will save you and your family members lots of stress. I hope this place is shut down soon. Terrible.

The administration is unethical, obnoxious, uncaring, and they lack transparency. It is nearly impossible to reach the administrators and they don't return calls. They sometimes reply to emails. My mother lost over 60 lbs in 4 years with no explanation. They didn't ensure her thyroid was checked to tailor her medication and she nearly died. They lost her dentures, luggage, and her clothing and did not reimburse. We had to do hwr laundry because they were putting other patient's clothing on her, even underwear!! The Serenity coordinator was a cranky obnoxious woman who eventually calmed down but her title is a total misnomer. My mother fell several times, probably because they were not ensuring she ate enough. Her last fall led to a brain bleed, lengthy hospital stay followed by a lengthy rehab stay. Watwrford lacked the professionalism and decency to let us know they were discharging her so we could find another place for her. They told the rehab to inform us. Needless to say during her 3 months, and counting, in the rehab we were considering they may not be a safe place for her. Now that we have considered everything we know for sure she was not safe their and we are fortunate she didn't die in their care. The administration also posts positive reviews on their site to skew their rating.

My mom was moved to a different room in another building, when I visited her she was happy, excited to tell me the the nurse put her in a special wheelchair and took her down to play bingo.. she said I won $2! They also, provided an echo so she can command the echo to call me and other family members without using her hands. I left feeling comfortable my mom was smiling and being taken cared of. All of them took such care of my Grandfather as though he was part of their family. They were extremely professional, caring, humble, helpful, dedicated, empathetic, very patient, kind, and truly cared. I waited a month after my mother's passing to write this review so I could have some distance and…read moreperspective from the events. I contracted with Alvita to care for my mother during the last two months of her life after she was injured in a fall. I paid for 24 hour home care seven days a week. Other than Fabienne, I found the caregivers sorely lacking in the most basic of qualities such as companionship and emotional support. Also, other than Fabienne, the one on one care for which they were hired (toileting, hygiene assistance, dressing, grooming, feeding, etc) was mostly delegated by them to the staff at the assisted living facility where my mother resided, which negated the whole point of hiring them in the first place. Chronic lateness was also the norm. Most arrived 10-20 minutes late for the start of the night shift The night shift crew was especially problematic. In addition to generally not performing the basic tasks for which they were hired ("it's not my job" was the common refrain, even though it literally was their job), they often did not even stay in the same room as my mother who was a fall risk. Some slept on the sofa in the living room during the night shift, some spent the night shift doing schoolwork in a separate room, and some spent hours of the night shift on their phone in the hallway outside of the apartment. The complaints became so numerous from the staff at the assisted living facility and from the hospice nurses that I eventually had to change agencies for the night shift. Three of the low points during the Alvita night shift require special mention. (1) There was the night that my mother sat in her own feces for the entirety of the night. When Hospice arrived in the morning, the waste was dry and hard and had been there all night, despite a 12 hour Alvita shift. (2) Many nights, my mother was put to bed at 7 PM for convenience sake without any social interaction or kindness on the part of the aide. (3) My mother suffered a skin tear on her arm the night after I complained about the aides sleeping on the job. I was told that she injured herself, but there are no witnesses other than the Alvita aide involved. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Fabienne. She was the primary Alvita daytime aide for my mother. Fabienne went above and beyond the call of duty. She exuded kindness and compassion. She took the utmost care of my mother and treated her with dignity and respect. When Fabienne was on the job, the staff at the assisted living facility and the hospice staff took a break because everyone knew that she had everything under control. This is the level of care advertised by Alvita and the level of care that I paid for, but only Fabienne met the mark. Not only did she meet expectations, but she blew everyone away with her level of care.
