My husband and I have been customers with GEICO for over 10 years. We LOVED them... until they spiked our rates after a car accident despite our "accident forgiveness". I will not get into the details on progressive's review, but you can find that information in a review for GEICO. Long story short, we made the switch to Progressive. They took all the same accident/policy information and we are saving $700 in just the first 6 months!! WITHOUT COMPROMISING ON COVERAGE! Now, we are also using the snapshot devices and are (fingers crossed) hopefully going to see even more discounts for good driving habits. I recognize that we are new to Progressive, but they deserve some recognition for the amazing rates and explantation of coverage over the phone. The agent I spoke with took 40 minutes of his day to answer all of my questions and help me match my new coverage to what I was getting with GEICO. Since we are so new to Progressive, this review is representative of our experience as of today. I will place another review in 6-months when our policy renews. They weren't able to fix their mistakes, causing to have to abruptly cancel our automotive policy's with them after 10 faithful, zero claim years. They promised a refund over 3-4 months o f'd trying to settle their mistake on auto-pay without our permission. And were never able to rectify the situation. They are one of the worst companies to try and follow-up with, finding solutions to very frustrating problems they created. Worst customer service we have experienced in our 55 years of life. So disappointed. Welcome to USAA. Good riddance progressive. Do not recommend progressive for any services at all. We noted they have many class action Lawsuits against them as well. Rate increased for no reason... Therefore, I moved to a new insurance company for a better rate. There was a $50 amount on my account (not sure what it was left over from) at Progressive that they actually sent to "collections". I should also add that they have horrible customer service... Seriously.** This morning, I logged into my Progressive Insurance account using my own credentials... and saw **someone else's policy**--their name, vehicles, address--everything. I immediately called to report what is clearly a major data breach. What I found out next was even worse. Since **July 2025**, Progressive had incorrectly added my **23-year-old son (who is in the military)** to a completely different policy. That means **all of his personal information**--including his driver's license--was sitting on someone else's account. Mind you, he already has his own policy. It gets deeper... The actual policyholder had tried to add my son's father, providing correct details (DOB, SSN, DL). But somewhere in the process, Progressive selected the **wrong person entirely**--my son--and attached him to the policy instead. Now think about the impact: * My son is under 25 and has **two speeding tickets** * The system rated the policy using *his* driving profile * The result? A **senior citizen's policy was increased by $1,700/month--more than double--since last July** Yes... you read that right. When I spoke to a supervisor, they said we would need to **listen to the original call**. My response: Go right ahead--because what you'll hear is a clear example of negligence. Your sales rep failed to verify information, exposed my son's confidential data, and caused a senior citizen to be drastically overcharged. This is beyond unacceptable. I got a letter today that I needed to call IMMEDIATELY because someone needed to be added to my insurance policy. Of course I call and ask who tf that even is and am informed they dont know just someone that lived where I live. I said no, lady thats not true. I know the people that lived here before me and I demand to know who claims this individual lives here or has lived here or should even be associated with me or my account. Lady had no answers. My daughter had a accident in high school where both cars were insured by Progressive. No one was injured and the damage was minor.No bills or liability determination was sent to my daughter or myself. Two year later, and without ever notifying us, Progressive turned my daughter over to a collections agency for the repairs to the other car. When contacted the stated that they had to wait until she was an adult to initiate this action. As she was on my policy I asked why I wasn't called and was told it wasn't my buisness. Run! My car was flooded during hurricane helene, but progressive refused to total or even fix all of the visible damage to the car. Salt water entered the engine, which causes havoc on the electrical system. They replaced the starter and battery to get the car to start. So many stories of people's cars locking up while driving flooded vehicles is terrifying. I drive 275 daily to work and back, so I had to buy another car for safety on my own life, and now I'm out, paying two car payments, insurance policies (didn't go with progressive obviously for the new car) and I have a fancy lawn ornament I'll never be able to use or sell. They don't care about you, your investment or your safety. I'm just thankful I didn't have them for home insurance. I couldn't imagine dealing with them for that. read more

I regret ever switching to Progressive. After being with GEICO for years, I received an email from Progressive promising lower rates, so I made the switch--big mistake. Bait and switch On the low insurance quote. Switched out auto policy to them from State Farm because the quote was cheaper than what we were paying. About a month later they raised our rate by $495 because our old insurance records had one of our sons listed on the policy. They didn't call us to inform us of this change so it went unnoticed until the money was deducted from our bank account. We called them to inform them our son doesn't have the same address as us and doesn't drive our cars. They had us fill out some paperwork and email it to them and said they would refund the money if we call their underwriting department and ask them to backdate the exclusion form. However, I've called nine times since then, and they are refusing to refund my money even though they removed my son from the policy. read more

Although they quickly responded and admitted the liability, they are very slow in follow up to get my questions answered and they are not sending correct information about my car to the body shop. They incorrectly added my sister--who has her own insurance as an insured driver on my policy without my knowledge or consent. Additionally, they included a random individual named Jeremy - I have no idea who this is - on the claim and and my other sister that lives with my parents in Florida. As a 26-year-old policyholder, I was quoted $276 per month by an agent, but I am now being charged $540 for January. Due to this false cover back in November due to this error. The insurance company has admitted to the mix-up but refuses to correct the payment discrepancy, stating they cannot do anything about the charge. I have progressive auto insurance for the past the past year. On October 01, 2025, my wife was side hit by a large e-bike while making a left turn into the entrance of our apartment complex. The driver of the e-bike was charged for the accident due to not yielding to traffic at an open entrance into a community. The damaged was substantial enough to file a claim for repairs. First issue: Once the claim was filed; Progressive tried to place partial blame on my wife even though the e-bike driver was charged with the accident. Second issue: My wife is a school teacher, we had to wait for a holiday break to put the vehicle in the shop. We waited approximately thirty days before we could leave the vehicle for repairs. When time was available to leave vehicle for repairs, Progressive had cancelled the claim for repairs. Which Progressive had stated we had one year to have the vehicle repaired. That was not the case, it was cancelled before thirty days after the initial claim was processed. It was it was scheduled for repair on November 24, 2025. Third issue: The dashboard of our vehicle was cracked from the accident. Progressive refused to repair stating it could not have been caused by the accident, but it appeared at the time of the accident and not before or later. Progressive's poor customer service had made filing a claim a nightmare to say the least and not as portrayed in their commercials. read more

very much a gotcha moment. will do what they can not to pay the claim. doesn't return calls when say they will. denies claims without thinking about all the facts. says they are USaa friendly but treats their military customers horribly. even their own representatives say my claim shouldn't have been denied and should be reconsidered but the claims supervisor won't reconsider and call me back. guess what rats can chew though a small piece of cloth or under it. a small cover won't keep them out. also inside a storage facility a cover shouldn't be required very much a gotcha moment. I received a notification from progressive about 2 months into my policy stating they needed proof of garaging address, Nothing was in my name at this property it was more of a sublet type situation, needless to say progressive pulled my consumer report and listed a property in Tampa that I do own as my primary residence which it is not! Progressive is very underhanded. They lure you with a low price and then find any way they can to up your rates. DO NOT get Snapshot. They monitor you for a year, then ask for the monitoring device to be returned. Next thing you know your rate went up $300 without any explanation. Also, Florida law requires insurers to repair windshields without cost to the client. Well, they did repair my windshield, but instead of charging for it, they raised my rates. Doubled my cost and added a driver without my permission. Really gross and that their supervisor wouldn't reverse it is even wise. Basically I called about a small raise and mentioned by the way that my sister in law is visiting for a months or few and I would let her drive here and there. After the customer service guy insisted that she must be added to the policy I told him that if it's a problem then she will not drive. After we ended the conversation he simply doubled my cost and assigned me an additional due cost when it was a zero just before I called. I read in other reviews that they add users without authorization and double costs surprisingly for other reasons. This should be a reason for a class action against them. I went with progressive when their pricing was lower than Geico. They gave me an artificial discount for being a new policy owner that went up 25% in the next policy renewal. Then they connected me to two different people trying to manipulate my policy. Mr. Gama said I would get a refund in 2 to 3 days on my credit card after going back to Geico and now it's a 15 day wait and they're sending me a check. So they also lie. They got a bunch of hoops and ladders to jump through they got one form you sign for what you asked for they got another form that you have to be redirected and signed and you don't find out this until later that in order to not get uninsured motorists you have to sign a whole different form which should be on the same form but it's not with them so they send you a link you click on the link and all it does is take you right back to what your original policy is they send you another text it's a link to write back to what your regular policy is no other way to go so they'll claim they mailed out policy about the uninsured motorists but they don't then finally I get one I sign it that day put it back in the mailbox it gets picked up they take out money for uninsured motorists state that oh well we received it too late so there's nothing we can do we do have your signed form but unfortunately it came in too late but I said I signed it when I got it she said yeah but it came late so sorry there's nothing we can do we can't refund you I really would not recommend them read more

It is unfortunate that we can't put a 0 star for this scam of a company. They should not be allowed to sell insurance if they commit crimes by saying your car is totaled when infact it is not. Even the report that was given to me gave me a clean bill of health pretty much. This company leaves you without transportation to get to work and you have to redeposit on a new car after you just got the 1st car a few months prior. Not only that they do 0 investigation when somneone else causes damage to your car, and then they raise your insurance to recoup the money they paid out to the finance company for over a 3 year time recoup. Only way to keep them from recouping is to wait 6 months and switch insurance providers. My story is some drunk kids wrecked their new car at 5am on a Saturday morning and their car debris went under my car and punctured the oil pan. They made me responsible for the accident when I was trying to go to work to move my family out of the horrible place we are in now and the kids get away scott free because this company does not do their due diligence. after talking to several other people at my job they have ran in to the same issue with progressive. Can I give a -10 star? I was reading some of the other reviews and I noticed that a lot of them said that the people were rude and this company is a bully. I have to tell you I totally agree with that. I do not have progressive insurance anymore. I had to drop them because they are unapproachable. First you get a new person every time you call do you have to explain everything then they put you on hold and listen to all your past conversations to figure out the best way to either get rid of you or come over the top of you. I got new insurance at half the price literally half the price and I Now have uninsured motorist and a separate health plan and still pay less than half of what progressive was charging. All I can say is shop around. I am I'm just disappointed in myself that I gave them so much money before I switched. their upper level management is unapproachable cause literally refusing to transfer me to someone that could help me until I admitted I was at fault.
