I got into an accident where we were both CLEARLY distracted by a crazy woman pulling a cart across a parking lot. Not only was my 'adjuster' rude, she clearly wasn't on 'my side'. They had you fill out everything online, including pictures, then call you and make you feel horrible about the issue and go over everything again. I asked twice, you want me to tell you what I filled out online? 'Brittany G' was unkind and unhelpful, short and rude. I merged onto the highway behind an untarped gravel truck. Immediately, before I could change lanes to get away from this obvious hazard, it dropped a stone off its tailgate that bounced up and cracked my windshield. I flagged down the truck. The driver said to call his insurer, Progressive, and they'll handle it. After making me submit a ton of online paperwork, do an online interview, then wait a month, Progressive refused to cover my windshield, citing lack of evidence (even though the driver was their covered customer). I have had progressive auto insurance now for over 20 years and the only thing I can really complain about is they're towing services, it is the absolute worst and over the years nothing has changed. My husband and I recently needed towing for one of our four vehicles. My husband and I were stranded on the side of a very busy freeway at 3am and called for towing services. We sat there for about 45 minutes to an hour while they tried to dispatch a towing company to pick us up. Finally they found a company called Sacramento Towing and we received a text message saying that they would be the between 60 to 90 minutes, after waiting I called Progressive again and all they could do was apologize then put me on hold while they dispatch again. Needless to say at about 7:30am two tow trucks finally pulled up at the same time and to our surprise it was Freeway Service Patrol, they thought my car was abandoned and was about to tow it. They did tow us off the freeway to the nearest exit for free and said if that ever happened again on the freeway to contact them right away and they would come out for free and tow us off the freeway. By this time as we are exiting the freeway I had been on the phone with Progressive Insurance letting them know my new location and they informed me that my tow truck driver would be there waiting. Needless to say from the time we called Progressive insurance and the time I got home was 6 and a half hours. Oh I forgot to mention our tow truck driver got pulled over and received several citations while on our way home. read more

My new 2025 Civic with 700 miles on it was rear ended by a person insured by Progressive. It's been almost 48 hours and no contact other than it was reported 2 days ago. They don't call you they send a text requesting you complete an on-line diagrm along with a million questions. We completed it and called. We were told to go through our insurance as it would be faster. We told them why since their member was 100% at fault for rear ending our car at a stop light that was red. we asked for info but were told someone would call us. We called the next day and nobody was assigned to the claim. We were told again to go through our insurance company. We said no again and we will call daily untill they call us with what to do. We asked if we should get estimates or do they have a recommended shop, again told wait for a call from the adjuster. Really bad in my opinion as we could not get any answers. Have had Progressive for a few years now. Dutifully paying my premiums every month. Came out to find my car with damage from the front bumper to the rear quarter panel. Looks like someone swiped me. Placed a call to see about getting it fixed and I should've known something was up when the lady on the phone kept asking me how much damage was already there (??). I told them "none" as we just found all of it the same day. She told me they could just give us some money if we dont really want it fixed (again ??). I said no, I would like it to be fixed please. We go through all the motions of getting it down to the body shop etc. Show the shop all the damage etc. Body shop was great..said theyd get all the info to Progressive and get it fixed right away. Progressive comes out to "inspect" it. And then has the nerve to say the rear damage couldnt have been done at the same time as they thought it appeared to be done by a person with "fingernails". Wait huh?? Both the paint and the rubber fender well edging were all damaged. And that was fingernails?? The best part is they said we'd have to place a separate claim for that one (aka pay another deductible) if we wanted it fixed. What a scam! Just trying to do whatever they can to squeeze some more money out or not cover it. So pissed! Dont waste your money on these guys. They'll be great while they collect your money. This is the second time I have needed a tow. I've been a customer for about 5 years. We have 3 cars and 4 drivers insured. We pay over $500 a month. We've had 2 lockout claims and 2 tow claims. It has now been 26 hours since calling in for a tow. The first time we needed a tow was a couple years back when my son's car broke down. They had 2 dispatch 2 different companies before one finally showed up almost 5 hours later. Thankfully we were able to get to my son so he didn't have to wait all night. We left his car there at 6pm and hid the key for the driver (if they ever showed). The tow truck showed up at our house at 11:30pm to drop his car. Yesterday my husband broke down over 45 minutes from home. My family was thankfully able to go get him so he wasn't on the side of the road. We have now made 9 calls to progressive between the two of us. Two people have called us to tell us to update us and let us know that they are still looking for a company. Now I get that it's a holiday weekend but come on, it's been 26 hours!!!! Now we get a call telling us that we can call a tow truck, pay for it ourselves and then 'request' reimbursement. This is insane. We have been waiting forever. Plus my husband is going to have to go all the way back out there if they ever get us a tow to give the driver the keys. read more

I got hit and the other person was at fault. they scheduled my repair to get done at a shop that wasn't certified to work on my car so I had to reschedule after waiting 2 fucking months. Then the new collision repair place rescheduled my appt and I knew nothing about it until enterprise called me verifying my pick up date. Not only that but progressive did not want to match the type of car I got. Absolutely ridiculous. Do not spend your money here. I've had commercial car insurance with Progressive since 2006. I called to add another vehicle & found out my insurance had expired 2 months ago. I pay my bill once a year & had no idea. Progressive told me they mailed a letter to my old address even though I have all my communications from them set to my email. They did nothing to bring this to my attention other the letter sent to an outdated address. Not having auto insurance on the employee vehicle is not how I do business so wanted to fix it right away. Progressive told me even though I've been with them for over 10 years I'll have to go through the whole process of signing up again, that they wouldn't reinstate my policy. They did not care that I'd been with them so long. So I went to Geico instead, since I had to signup again anyway & Progressive made it clear that they don't care about their customers. read more

I've had progressive for a few years now with a clean record and on time payments. My car was stolen then recovered at the beginning of December. I filed the claim all in the same day. First it took them a week and a half to come out to the house to give me their estimate then another week to have the car towed to the shop for repairs. When they had it towed they didn't even inform me that it was being picked up. Just a random tow truck showing up in the middle of the day that I had not planned for. Then they lied to me about the shop not getting them the estimate and delaying finalizing the estimate. All in all it took them 4 weeks to finalize the estimate so the parts could be ordered. The worst part is they only covered a rental car for 30 days and the car parts to fix my car on back order. I'm now without a vehicle at all until mine is fixed and they could care less. I've been trying to contact them to extend the rental for a week. Left multiple messages with the advisor and even her supervisor and no one will return my calls. Just over two months ago my son was leaving work and was hit by a non-insured drunk driver while he was sitting at a stop light . He is the sole supporter of his family and is borrowing a car from his sister in law in order to get back and forth to work. He has full coverage insurance along with uninsured motorists coverage. Progressive insurance is dragging there feet with the claim not providing a rental car and the vehicle is still sitting in the storage lot adding storage fee of over $3000 as of today . I wish he would have listened to me and had entertained my suggestion to check with AAA , Farmers or State Farm for his auto insurance, they would have handled his claim by now. I dont have time for pick apart players games Progresvie agents have shown. I'm a Fire Fighter EMT and very busy. I was in a minor car accident, sandwich between two cars at a stop light, with me trying to avoid the car un front of me. I swearved to the right side of my lane, then bumped in the back by one car, bumped the car in front of me because of this. and by me moving to the right side of the lane and shoulder of the roadway, scrapped metal road sign or metal object on the right of my pickup. I heard the scrapping sound. Damage to car in front of me minor. a little dent in a plastic bumper, car that his me in the back drove off, night time, raining hard. When driver in the front and I pulled to safe location to exchange information, I found minor damage to my front bumper, my rear bumper, my right side running board, and scrap on right rear finder trim. I called right away to Progresive to make a claim, I sent pictures, first agent sarcasm she showed, called me in short terms a liar, would not cover all the minor damages, after long argument, business manor by myself. she said would take care of it. I said I would take my truck for repairs to Sacramento very good Body Shop. I said what day. and fact I could not drop my truck off for repairs until 4:30 PM Because of work Few says later no response, Day of schedule to drop my truck off, I found a email from Progrssive that they set up a rental car 2 hours from car body shop, at see up schedule for repairs 8:30 am. Huh? The agent made it very difficult. I when I called this agent. she went on vacation. I had to call Progrssive 6 times, 6 different agents and voice mails to get a agent who would change rental car location and drop off schedule for my truck. All, yes all repairs are supposed to be done. Few days later I received a voice mail from another Progressive agent. Very much sarcasm again, said would only fix front and rear bumper. but not damage to the right side of my truck. When I tried to get a hold of this agent, she was in vacation. But her rude message as a joke, she came across that way, really wanted to figure out how side damage occurred. It was obvious. I explained to 6 agents already. I was a LONG time customer of Progressive- over 15 yrs! I recently (this past fall) purchased a brand new 2014 Honda Civic, I went to replace my current 2004 Honda with it on my policy. My rate barely changed. I was initially happy that my insurance barely went up, but when I thought about it afterwards I became angry. Angry that I've been paying practically the same rate on a ten year old car as a brand new one of the same make and model. I called/looked online at several insurance companies to get quotes. All of them were much lower than Progressive. Geico was $200 less per 6 months. That's $400 a year! And now they want to charge me a $50 cancellation fee! Yes, I know the policy contract states they can charge a policy cancellation fee but it does not list how much. $50 is a LOT to cancel a policy when all they have to do is probably push a button on the computer. I'm absolutely disgusted with Progressive's customer service practices at this. I would not recommend that you insure with them. read more

Has anyone had dealings with Progressive on the "not at fault" side, meaning the person that caused the accident had Progressive insurance? I have been fighting with Progressive for about a month trying to get them to compensate me for the diminished value of my vehicle as it is now registered as been in an accident. Let's take a poll - 2 cars on a car lot, pretty much exactly the same condition, same mileage, same price. One has a CarFax that has "accident" listed. As a consumer, who is willing to pay the same price for a car that has been in an accident as one that has not, even though the car that has been in an accident has been expertly repaired? Safe to say 99% - 100% of people would choose the vehicle that does not have an accident on record.....OR....ask that the price be dropped by $XXXX amount for the vehicle with an accident on record. This is called diminished value.....which Progressive doesn't seem to think exists. Their explanation - "It is our assessment that your 2017 Hyundai Sonata was placed back into pre-loss condition with the repairs completed by Service King. Therefore since the car was returned to the exact condition it was prior to the accident we do not feel that the value would be reduced upon its sale in the future." I've done my research and due diligence, having gone to several car dealerships (Dodge, Hyundai, Honda, Kia, Car Max) asking about the trade-in value and the they are actually discounting my vehicle more than I expected (about $10k), and much more than what I am asking from Progressive. Once they see the CarFax with the accident on my car, they have told me they can no longer certify my vehicle as one of their "certified pre-owned" and they have similar cars on the lot without an accident on their record. Extremely frustrating that we willingly pay, pay, pay our insurance premiums for these companies to make millions, and yet it is like pulling blood from a stone when it comes time for reasonable compensation. The accident did almost $8600 damage to my vehicle, not a small hit, my doctor's bills were $100 (in total...including pharmacy). I am not trying to extort money from Progressive, just want what is owed and nothing more. I paid for an external company to perform an appraisal on my car and they put the diminished value at $3000, like I said, much less than what I am seeing at dealerships. Funny how quickly insurance companies will up the premiums on their consumers to make more money, but will fight tooth and nail over a few thousand dollars when it comes to letting some of that money go. read more

GREAT customer service!!! I have been with Progress for a very long time and was rear ended for the first time this month. They have been nothing but helpful and kind through the entire experience. I was able to get my car in right away and then cut me a check the very next day since my car was totaled. I am a stickler for customer service and my husband and I both were very impressed with the environment at this office. Everyone spoke with consideration and kindness to not only us but others working on their claim as well regardless if the accident was their fault or not. I was rear ended by someone with Progressive insurance, so I am going through them to take care of everything. The accident happened on 11/24/15, and I called them about 30 minutes after the accident occurred. The next day, a representative called me, said the other party accepted fault, and told me that Progressive will be taking full responsibility for coverage. The person on the phone who spoke to me was named Doug, he was the local Sacramento REP and he was able to calm me down. I was very stressed about the fact that I work, I'm pregnant, I have kids, and I go to school; I have to have a working, safe car. My car shouldn't be driven, so he had me set up with an appointment to drop of my car 11/25/15 and they had a very nice rental car waiting for me. Once I arrived at their office, the young woman who helped us (I have forgotten her name) was very sweet, she did all of the paper work, looked at my car and went through the process with me. Because of the holiday, they told me it wouldn't be until next week that I get an estimate of the damages. She made sure to tell me that Progressive will pay for it all. So far the customer service has been great, they have made me so much less stressed considering everything and it being a holiday, and they've taken care of me. Once the process gets further along, I will update and reevaluate but so far I am very happy with Progressive and am happy that they were able to be quick about assisting me, making sure I have a safe vehicle. read more
