She is extremely knowledgeable in the field of female hormones and weight loss. Both her, and her husband, Dr. Robert Maki, helped me build both a work out routine and meal plan resulting in an over 50lb weight loss. Their Podcast is also extremely informative - from hormonal issues to sleep problems to weight loss. Wow I called on a Thursday afternoon at 3:45 pm and even though their business hours say they are open I get the answering service. I ask the answering service to take down my information so that I can get a call back and instead she puts me on hold. She comes back after a few minutes and seems disoriented. She say "oh I tried contacting them again but no one answered. Someone will call you back. She then proceeds to end the call. Before she could hang up on me I had to abruptly stop her and ask if she needed my number in order for me to get called back? She loudly sighs and then asks me for my phone number. By the end of it she just said "ok someone should call you" and hangs up without even waiting for me to reply. Ive been struggling with my weight for at least 10 years. At one point I started to starve myself. I lost 30lbs but as soon as I ate food, I gained it all back plus 40lbs! Every doctor I saw told me I needed to "quit drinking soda and get off the couch", or offered a kooky injection, or appetite suppressant. I tried every fad diet, and was killing myself at the gym. I hired several personal trainers, weight loss clinics and a dietitian before I found Dr. Maki. I had a suspicion that I had a hormone issue, but I couldn't get any doctors to look into it. My concerns were always dismissed. Dr. Maki is the ONLY doctor that didn't dismiss me, or give up on what my issue was. When I fist saw Dr. Maki I was in bad shape. 30 years old and numerous health problems, pre-diabetic and mentally at rock bottom. I was full of inflammation, had swelling in my hands and feet, my gallbladder removed ( with symptoms STILL there) heart burn, acid indigestion, bloating, 70lbs over weight, back problems, arthritis, and migraines. I was busting my butt at the gym 3 times a week and running 3 miles everyday, counting my calories, with NO weight loss. I was so used to the number increasing that I almost didn't believe it. After an ultra sound and more blood work, He identified my problem. I had an ANSWER! After years of feeling low, and being told I was lazy, I finally had an answer. Since January, I've lost 20lbs, so far, without going to the gym, taking some crazy pills. or injections. Mentally, I am doing so much better. I have a direction. hope. a plan. Because of Dr. Maki, I am starting to understand how my body works, and why the gym and diets didnt work. I don't count calories, or movement points. I live. I am educated on what "healthy" truly means, and I take life one day at a time. I don't have a weight loss goal date or deadline. I am learning to trust my body and eat food. My body is slowly but surely healing and I am happy to see slow but steady progress. I couldn't have done any of it with out Dr. Maki. He is modest, and says I've done all the work, but my health is a total 180 degrees, Because of him. My desperation is gone. and I can see and feel my body changing. The swelling, heart burn, acid indigestion, migraines, arthritis, and pre diabetic is all gone. My back pain is better, and I am off sleep medications. No more spiraling out of control. I feel like Dr. Maki empowered me again. I feel like I have control of my body and my choices shape my health. One thing I would suggest, make sure you follow his advice. This is a doctor you can trust, so do exactly what he says. cheating or straying from what he says will only hurt your success. He knows what he is talking about, and will help you, but you also have to help yourself. It wasn't easy for me to always follow his advice, but I am/was dedicated to my health. So I followed all his advice, and now I am enjoying my life again. Everything he advised me on was safe, and effective. His plans are holistic and natural. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Maki to anyone looking to gain back control of their health. This doctor will actually take the time to help you, and listen. I first heard of Dr. Maki when I started listening to his pod cast Progress Your Health. I listened to this for about a year and every episode I would end it with " this makes so much sense! I contacted his office and we set up a phone appointment because I live in a different state. We have been working together for close to two years. I have had many improvements to my health. I first met Dr. Maki over two years ago at a bio-identical hormone seminar he was giving and was amazed at how much I learned and the knowledge he had on the subject. I told my husband about him and we both decided we should see him. For years, my husband was on numerous medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol and despite all the treatments, he never felt better.
