My visit to Dr. MacIntyre was to have staples/stitches removed after a previous surgery but because of how swollen my leg was, I was sent for an ultrasound. Dr. Neil MacIntyre absolutely ROCKS! My first encounter at Tinsley was with Jennifer at the front desk. Jennifer was exceedingly kind and offered to help me with our Tucker who rides alongside me everywhere. I was afraid of how long he'd be alone sitting with the A/C blasting. My concern was that our GMC SUV turns itself off automatically at 45 minutes. I hadn't planned on the extra trip and I simply wanted to get Tucker home and out of the extreme heat! Jennifer was an angel by immediately detecting how stressed out I was and then offering to bring Tucker into her office and she'd care for him while my issues were addressed. I found Jennifer to be so charming, she's one of the first lovely faces you see and is a lovely part of the medical staff at Tinsley Surgical. The radiologist technician Savannah was so efficient, patient, professional, and kind. I'm not as spry as I was years ago; Savannah's calmness made you feel that you didn't need to rush or that I was an inconvenience. Nurse Nina promptly recorded my vitals and gathered my history to put into the computer. We had a very comfortable and sweet conversation about random topics and she showed me her adorable zipper-compression socks which I quickly ordered. Then the highlight of the day...meeting Dr. Tinsley! The kindest, funniest, and most caring of doctors! Dr. Tinsley's late father treated my own father in the 1980s, both are and were exceptional doctors and Wilmington is blessed to have Ellis A. Tinsley, Jr., MD, FACS, FSVS. The technician asked for me to extend my arm in the air while taking a blood pressure reading. This is not typical or correct. A patient's arm should never be held unsupported up in the air. It should be rested. I said to her " this will surely elevate my blood pressure". Then she stated, "your BP is elevated". you think? The doctor would not listen to my concerns and instead became defensive, sassy, and condescending. I felt dismissed and disrespected throughout the interaction, rather than heard and treated with professionalism and courtesy I would expect from a medical provider.

That might sound like a small thing, but after being sent to other places in the past, it makes a big difference walking into somewhere that actually feels like a proper medical office instead of something run down or questionable. I saw Dr. Sunil Aurora, and he was excellent. Very professional, thorough, and--most importantly--he took the time to clearly explain how the procedure works and what to expect going forward. No rushing, no talking over your head--just straight, understandable information. Right now, we're waiting on confirmation from the VA to approve coverage for four treatments, so that's the next step. But based on this first visit, I feel comfortable and confident moving forward with them. If the treatment side matches the first impression, this is going to be a solid place for care.
