First of all, this is based on the Tuesday night staff and lack of professionalism this wannabe hot yet never stands a chance bar employs. I'm embarrassed for them that they actually call themselves "honey pots" when they look like they're high and have the professionalism of all places that don't make a dime. I came after just being in Miami (where actual hot clubs exist). Never heard of this place besides being told by my friend who owns another spot down the street that I should take my girlfriend here. Apparently her ex was working at the bar (someone you'd picture living under a bridge). We went to the ATM across the street to get cash and expected to stroll in. The woman at the door tells me I can come in but can't bring my girlfriend because it would make the bartender (who hasn't seen this person in 1.5 years) "uncomfortable". In a hot, professional establishment in Miami, not only would this never be tolerated (staff are asked to leave personal problems at the door), but we would be given an apology by the owner. I asked to speak with this owner, David Sikora, who's sister was working the door and delivering this message to me. He blatantly lied to my face that this hideous bartender had a restraining order against my girlfriend. After I said I'd like to see it, he said he won't let her in regardless as to not make his staff uncomfortable. When I looked at the style and quality of the clientele and employees, and after this ridiculous exchange, I called all the people meeting us and made sure they tell everyone about this incident. It was beyond foolish being that this owner had no idea who he was dealing with. On a side note, we were so above everyone in this establishment with not only our physical appearance, professional demeanor, and would have probably spent more than anyone who has ever set foot in this joke of a bar, that people saw us through the windows and came outside to take photographs with us. Incredibly sad and concerning that after 6years of avidly attending this club I have to leave this review. 10/15 Saturday night sometime between 11p-12a (wasn't there for even an hour) Progress staff began to verbally and physically assault my companion and I. One curly haired employee began everything by making accusations she couldn't coherently explain nor back up after repeatedly being asked what wrongdoing were we committing?-- what we got was security aggressively and violently shoving us out with such excessive force that one guard actually choked me until I was unconscious and woke up on the floor with my eyeglass frames somewhere along the floor and damaged. Even worst, my friend was bleeding from what seems to be a stab or slash wound of some sort that was clearly fresh from the altercation at Progress. No reasons nor explanations were given to us about why they were taking such extreme measures, 5 employees were involved and none could look at us in the face nor say exactly what it was that had happened. PLEASE, if you become a victim of a bizarre experience like this one report it asap; they could seriously hurt someone, even suffocate them to death. read more

Avoid this place at all cost if you don't want your night ruined and I would give zero stars if I could, the racism and negativity thats oozing from this place is baffling!!! They will treat you different if your not white and if your not straight...and this is a gay bar...the bartenders will kick you out just for having a drink already in hand...it happened to me last night...I never felt so unwelcome in my life...and they have a nerve to start charging covers at the door...your club isn't worth the racism and unwelcomeness....they really need to hire new bartenders who can actually make a drink besides a tequila and club soda that tastes like trash.... and bounces have a god complex and will treat you like scum even though your a human being.... it's sad how unwelcome the gay community is at this place....not to mention they got rats in the bar!!!! DO NOT GO HERE unless you want your belongings stolen. This is another account of having been pick-pocketed at this bar on a busy Saturday night. A friend's wallet was taken from her cross-body purse, and another friend's iPhone was stolen. The very next morning, one friend's phone was in Andersonville (seen via find my iPhone) and then was fully turned off. The pick pockets attempted to make purchases at a gas station and a 7-11 with the stolen debit card the very next morning, confirming that these items were not simply misplaced. A patron punched a guy in the face for "bigotry" and the guy who got punched was kicked out. Staff did not even ask the other folks around what happened. Yes, queer folks should be able to stand for themselves. Punch Nazis. And if it were just one person's story against another's, then believe the more obviously marginalized. But there were witnesses and this patron was out of hand and substituted entirely different phrasing from what the victim said. Hey! I may not be the youngest buck out there; but I still enjoy a good dance off from time to time. Not unlike most bars in the city; Progress is packed; which is it's only real down fall. Perhaps they should start imposing a limit on how many folks they will allow to enjoy the place; if you're looking to dance, the music is great, but there is no room to move. The drinks are priced typically, so be prepared to spend a pretty penny; unless of course you know someone ;) Make friends! read more

The owner bullied the 40 year old local community association out of business because he didn't like their point of view on an issue. He even threatened legal action against the all volunteer group's board of directors. I will never give him one penny of my businesses and urge you not to either. Great bar addition to the boystown area. It's new and extremely clean with a decent number of drafts beers, large liquor selection and an extremely unique lighting design. They also have a great staff working. Kevin, Kyle & Ben are awesome. If you're in the area I highly recommend you check it out. read more

Follows covid guidelines very well. The bar limits the amount of patrons aloud in and only allow a 90 min table time. It's completly table service only! Bar only allows max 3 people in thr bathroom at one time. Staff maintains a contract tracing sheet every day. read more

Its a good bar and gayish I will go to halsted street and may stop in there for a drink in the future.
