I have organized eighteen large-scale events at other venues and have never had to deal with the lack of hospitality by an owner like I did at this place. While our families put together a beautiful and memorable event, it was not without a ridiculous amount of stress from the unaccommodating owners. The zero-tolerance policy of outside alcohol was handwritten like a note on the contract after it was already signed. The conversation about outside alcohol was casual and a story about a previous wedding where a keg was brought into the Groom's suite. Had we been told that their liquor license was in jeopardy instead of being disrespectfully yelled at, we could have resolved the issue professionally. The fact that the owners rummaged through personal items, confiscated gifts without our knowledge, constantly monitored every move via the surveillance cameras (there is no sign anywhere that you are being watched/recorded), spoke to us in a very rude manner, basically called us liars several times, and much more, made me regret the decision to have the wedding at the barn. What owner would say to the bride, "I bet you can't wait till this is over"? Or roll his eyes and say, "oh, god" at the decor we were bringing in? I am disgusted that the surveillance camera in the Groom's suite watched their every move. I wonder if the barn follows the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code. I question the adequate exit access and compliant fire alarm system. I also question their compliance with the ADA Standards for Accessible Design (no designated accessible parking spaces). These are all serious matters that deserve attention. If you prioritize hospitality and integrity in your event planning, look for an alternative venue.

Mary was pleasant enough in the first meeting but as soon as the contract was signed she stopped returning calls and became rude at even the most basic questions... But that's not the worst part... Fees and additions kept coming in on the contract and after the event they refused to give back the security deposit (after asking us to make a check for the final, full amount out to Eddie himself, not the company, at the end of the wedding... Should have been another warning sign). When pressed, they said we didn't tip their people enough. Note that we had 20% tip built in to the contract AND their people put out tip jars (TACKY) even though we requested they didn't (we paid for the open bar). After no longer returning my calls, I walked in to their storefront. After being yelled at and threatened by both Eddie and Mary, I mentioned that my sister is a lawyer and all the sudden I had a check for the deposit they owed me. I don't care what the other reviews day in the positive... I've talked to far more who had the same experience I had... Please think twice.

I sought their services about 2 & 1/2 months out from a "small-moderate" size event (80) located across the street from their Gurnee location. Initially, Monia, the consultant, sent me the information I requested and as my inquiries increased so did her lack of response to me. After finally speaking with Monia's assistant, she was able to follow through with my request to view the glassware I was interested in. Monia emailed me and told me the glassware would be available for viewing on Saturday. I responded to ask if there was any time that was better for her. I, of course, did NOT receive a response (as I had become accustomed to) so when I arrived to see the glassware on Saturday as directed, Monia had absolutely NO idea where it was and spent the next 20 minutes searching for what had been placed in the cabinet in the show room. This is a testament to Monias investment in my affair as well as their level of communication with one another. When I asked Monia about the various emails I had sent without response she failed at true business acumen. She made up excuses.., she was sick, she was out of the office.., she was sorry. Really? In the end, I was sent a quote with extraneous costs that were never discussed. The old "switch and bait?" When I questioned them Monia told me that "things have changed". I attempted to appeal to the fact that I had the terms in writing from emails I had exchanged with them but I was told that "it has changed". When I asked to speak to "her boss" whom she referred to as the one making decisions, she again went down the "excuse path"..., he was not in either location, he did not have an email address or phone number AND..., drumroll please.., he was "going out of town!" The icing on the cake!!! To speak to her integrity, Monia told me that I had started the process "months ago" and that she had weddings that start planning a year or two out. Does this make sense to you? Is she saying that she CAN honor information provided by AAA TentMasters that is older than 2-3 months? But she CANNOT honor information provided within the last 60-90 days? I'm confused! I realize that AAA has been in business for a long time and I'm sure that they do well with their BIG events. However, for us little people just looking to have a small to moderate size celebration, I have to say that they CANNOT do it! Certainly Monia is in over her head and if the owner truly cares about what happened to me, I would've expected to hear back from him by now.

Not knowing any local places that did this, I googled and found a few places. I inquired at three different businesses, and by far, Anthony's was the best. Best price, best service, best overall! The day of the event, they were punctual upon arrival and overcame the horrible wind we were experiencing. They made the balloon arch stay up right and we got a ton of complements. ALSO, we had asked Anthony to make another arch in short timing for the football team to run under. He was so receptive, and came back within the hour with two towers that looked SO cool. We were able to transport the towers and use them at our dance the next day. Overall, if you are looking for someone to do balloon art for your event, this is the guy. I recommend him HIGHLY!
