It's more exciting than the recreational team, and you can move up to the competitive team when you are ready again within KFB. My 8-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter joined the Cupertino team. They enjoyed practicing once a week and playing games twice a month. As a parent of small children, I don't want any sports team to control our weekend schedule. I also didn't like the last-minute notice of when and where the games would be held when my son belonged to another competitive soccer team. The founder Anurag is very passionate about children's physical and mental wellness. Our family loves KFB!

He worked with parents to start classes in the Milpitas area, where there were none. His team of coaches are talented and work efficiently with every age group. They even offer games packages, which are a perfect add-on to coaching. Once kids get a hang of the techniques in class, they can then practice and polish their skills in games that are played against players from across their different groups around Bay Area. This way a top performer in a particular class can be challenged to perform and learn from players of different calibers. I highly recommend these soccer classes!

We were satisfied with the coaching but here is what we didn't like: (we dealt with coach Silva so I'm referring to him as he below). - he cancelled practices last minute - he changed location or time last minute - he gave a hard time to people who were trying to adjust to his spontaneous schedule - in the middle of the season he cancelled the entire program and still kept charging our credit card We wanted him to refund the last month that he charged our card after canceling his program and he has not yet returned a penny. He constantly didn't respond to my emails or my husband's calls or texts. I have emails as proof so if anyone is interested in verification I'll be happy to share them. Also to note it is required for you to have a credit card with him in the system in file to continue being in the program. It was not by our choice it was a requirement. We are still awaiting our payment to be refunded and if necessary will take further actions to prevent this kind of fraud.

Chris has done great work with our son (now 12 years old; 11 when he started in early 2014), and…read morehas really boosted his confidence. Our boy has been "recovering" from bad experiences with former teammates and coaches for the last several seasons. So, we really wanted soccer, still his favorite sport, to become a big positive in his life again. Chris is very positive with him, and quickly recognized his natural athletic ability, as well as his needs for better touch and improvement on other ball skills. We saw his attitude and confidence improve after just one session. Our son has grown more confident again, and has become more aggressive on the field -- more like his true self. He has a lot of fun, and has even strengthened his leadership skills (an unexpected bonus), when Chris calls on him to lead other athletes in warm-ups at the beginning of training sessions. :-) Workouts are hard and focused and fun -- great combination. Chris has voluntarily done extra work, staying late with our son, to help where more work was needed. Chris also has helped our son train to further maximize his speed and sprinting power in preparation for his big track meets during the spring. Overall, SSA has been a great experience for our son, and I would highly recommend Chris for any motivated young soccer player.

Full disclosure: My kids play in AYSO 64 and I volunteer…read more AYSO, like any other volunteer-run organization, is uneven. Some regions run like well-oiled machines while others run in fits and starts. If the parents and other volunteers are well-organized, they can have a massive impact on the lives of the kids playing. Region 64 has been running at a fairly good pace for a long time and many people are driven to help the organization even though their own kids have long graduated. Here's to wishing for many more years of success of Region 64 and of AYSO as a whole.

I strongly regretted sending my kids to AYSO 64 for two seasons. In fact the organization worked…read morelike a circus. Here are the reasons: 1. Lack of professionalism. AYSO has been around for many years. But it's hard to believe they don't have a course agenda/plan for kids at each age group. Like what age and which week they should master what kind of soccer techniques, when to start teaching kids soccer formations/positions. You can probably hire two college students who majored in sports education to design it in a summer. But you don't find that in AYSO. 2. Irresponsible volunteers. That's due to bad management. In our teams, we had no team manager, no assistance coach, no referee, no goal parent. For two seasons! And the organization didn't do anything, they just allow free riders. The team can't function with so many absent positions. 3. Big-ego jokers. This is the opposite of those in option 2. I call these people jokers because they miss-positioned themselves in a kids program. Obviously you don't need any creditability to be volunteers here. So these jokers just came in and had always to be right. Imagine these people become coaches or referees. They cheat in games, they run over others ideas and they think they own this team. 4. Chaotic management: Our schedule and practice location has been changed back and forth. In one season we were promised to have at least 10 games but only had 8. Overall I don't think it's worth the time spending with AYSO. For younger kids ( under 8) I think it's probably an OK option for them to just running around. But if you want a relatively serious soccer program, I suggest you find somewhere else. After all no one wants to play soccer in a circus.
