He gave me a list of all the things for which they charge extra - mostly administrative issues and having a nurse come out - and then pushed hard to have me sign a contract. That's probably a good thing since I would not leave my father in the care of such rude and pushy people.

A couple of the nurses seem to really care and make every effort to help and one in particular was great and caught an issue I was having and helped me greatly. I have had other nurses that never bothered to call to let me know they were coming and just generally had lousy attitudes and I felt very put down by one and she just did not care at all. I called and spoke to the manager and got blown off. I talked to home office and got the same from them. I got therapy and it was working and then they decided to stop it. They just dropped me and for the nurses visit never even sent someone to clear me for the last appointment. I would find another company.

The final straw is that our mother is in critical condition, requiring morphine every hour and the LPN who is taking the next shift doesn't show and all the answering services says it they are making calls. But they don't call back. The current LPN has been here 13 hours. Vitas doesn't seem to think this is an issue worth escalating. There are many more examples: not bringing supplies, telling us a nurse was coming at 6pm and no one shows until the next day (after several calls), resources showing up not knowing anything about our mom's condition, it just goes on and on.

I am a R.N., so I was aware of a lot. The experience with these truly loving people was a gift that to this day, I am thankful for. My family had another hospice entity for my father that was/ is well known in the community but what they actually delivered on was subpar. Vitas is who I can recommend and who I will use in the future for my loved ones when the need arises. No regrets.
