I sent a check to them because my apartment wouldn't get in contact with me and I needed to be approved for new apartment. I called and asked and confirmed my debt is deleted HOWEVER they need to process the check. THATS FRAUD AND THEFT OF MY MONEY. The debt is cancelled and they're processing my check still. I had something put in collections incorrectly & the organization that put it in collections was apologetic to me and we were working together with Procollect to get it removed. I tried to explain this, the organization that put this in collections in my name emailed them to remove it and CC'd me in these conversations so we were both working with them to get it removed, the process was incredibly long and draining because I kept getting hung up on while I was talking. I would literally be explaining my situation and saying can you check the emails she's attached me in to say it's to be removed and they would hang up on me & tell me to email Mr.Fox?? I kept asking- who is Mr.fox? Because he never even responded- EVER- then I kept getting hung up on when asking who this person even is because it seemed they just dismissed me to someone called Mr.Fox, would not give me a first name & It was so unprofessional. I had to email everyone- CEO, COO- finally got emailed a letter of clearance from someone but then , Mr.Fox emailed back and said " What is this" - I'm not sure "Mr.fox" even addresses his emails maybe it's a spam box that no one checks so they don't have to talk to people ? I contacted ProCollect, Inc. to take care of my debt. I was placed on hold numerous times before being transferred to a Mr. Gray who claimed he is the supervisor. Their employees do not provide their first names, only last names. I was then placed on hold by Mr. Gray before he was able to obtain my card information for a payment. Once he came back to the line, the call dropped and I did not receive a callback. Once I called back, I spoke with Mr. Gray again who then took my payment and stated I would not be able to get paperwork showing a payment was made until 24-48 hours. I am paying this debt so that I will be approved for an apartment. The apartment complex contacted the company to confirm a payment was made, they advised them that I did not pay anything. I then called ProCollect, Inc. back wondering why that happened. I spoke with Mr. Gray multiple more times and my questions and statements were being disregarded before he ultimately disconnected the line multiple times. (He also stated he does not have a supervisor over him and there was no number to corporate). I called back one last time and spoke with a Mr. Chappell who was sort of more helpful than anyone else, who advised me that the payment will post within a couple of days. Overall my experience trying to pay my debt was HORRIBLE and I believe this company should be investigated due to my experience, as well as the experience of others who wrote reviews on google, Reddit, etc. I've also contacted the Better Business Bureau about this experience as well. read more

This company sucks and someone always tells you something different! The people that I have talked to are EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL! On June 8, 2020 I finally gave up and settled with Procollect on a debt I never owed. I am trying to qualify for a mortgage and it's just not worth fighting for another three years. I spoke with Ms. Oatman and paid $882.50. She promised a deletion letter within 24 to 48 hours. The money has left my account. On June 12, 2020, after not receiving the email I spoke to Mr. Lucas who told me I would get the letter the next day and promptly hung up on me. On June 16, 2020, I spoke to Mr. Carter who said that Mr. Lucas had not ordered the letter but he would and I would receive it by 5 PM that day. Me. Carter gave me extension 115 as his reference. When I try to get a hold of him, I just get put on hold. Today, June 18, 2020, I spoke with Mr. White at extension 113 and again I was promised a letter by 5 o'clock. He claimed that they have experienced certain emails that just don't receive their letters so I gave him a second email. Still no letter. This was a fraudulent claim launched against me in 2016. This morning I called Procollect and spoke with a horrible women by the name of Ida about a matter she knew nothing about , I had a previous conversation with HR (Erica/Kim) about my W-2 form and where it had been mailed , from this conversation lead to a second conversation with HR (Erica/Kim) saying that the form would be sent out to my current address on Monday which was 7 days ago . This morning I called to find out where it was and if it had been mailed out (being I only live 5 mins ) I could have actually picked it up since it is now the 10th of March and I should have already had it. I spoke to a very rude lady like she was collecting from me ( in her collection voice) "We told you that the previous W-2 has to be returned !) at this point I was appalled by the way I was being spoken to , the tone of her voice , and the fact that she knew nothing about the second conversation that "We" had (Erica/Kim ) and I . Needless to say I then had a few choice words for Ida as she stated to me that Erica was some other part of HR , I advised her that I should have my W-2 by now especially if I have made contact with you all and let you know it has not been received and my last check was mailed out to the current address but the W-2 was mailed out to my former address in a different state. This is the WORST collection agency I've ever had to work with. They don't have their shit together at all. I was receiving conflicting information from one representative to the next and they were RUDE. I had two open accounts with them, told them I could pay one off, but had to make payments on the second. They refused and said both had to be paid off together. They wouldn't take payments unless they were EXPRESS OVERNIGHT DELIVERY. Supervisor spoke to me like I was an idiot and actually admitted that they make their employees lie to customers. I was sick to my stomach after that conversation. Finally, I get the account paid off and request a verification letter for the payments so I can follow up with my credit report. I receive one letter out of the two I was waiting on. And only ONE account got processed as closed on my credit. I'm furious. I wouldn't give this collection agency one star but I had to for this to post. Their staff are rude, crude and shady. They represent all of the bad characteristics you see on TV about debt collectors. Every encounter I've had with them has had a terrible outcome. Now I believe the Cedar Village apartment complex that they represent is also shady just for affiliating with this group. Here is the story. My daughter's university shut down in May, 2020 and students were urged to come home. Many of them flocked home quickly because of pandemic fears. I went to the office with my daughter and her roommate to negotiate how to get out of their lease. I was told to find two renters in her place. Fine. I did that. We all met in the office of the apartment complex. The complex said if both families gave checks for $1,800 to the new renters, we would be free and clear. We made the checks out to the apartment and it was applied to the new renters accounts. Fast forward several months when my daughter tried to get her first credit card and she is told her credit score is low because of this rent issue. First of all, no one contacted us to tell us there even was an issue. This was the first we heard of it. Second, when I did call the credit company to find out more, they woudn't even talk decently to me. They said they had to talk to my daughter. Fine, my daughter gets on the phone and they were intimidating with her and she barely knew anything about the issue because I was the one that paid the rent. Apparently they had sent an invoice out for the amount but it sure wasn't to us. We received nothing. I called today again and the person on the other end wouldn't even talk to me and didn't give me a chance to explain why my daughter couldn't talk. But in the meantime, back in October, my daughter sent the company a letter explaining the issue and she hasn't gotten one explanation about why they are charging her when the account was already settled in the offices of the apartment complex with a rep from the apartment and the two new renters. I feel like we are being gouged by the apartment complex because they have lost so much money during Covid, they will grab it where they can get it. We are not going to pay a bill we don't owe. Don't take advantage of people during this pandemic. Its cruel. Plus, we have never, ever not paid a debt so when this sleazy, shady collection agency gets on the phone, how dare they treat us so awful? They are the worst people I have ever dealt with. Somebody better explain to my daughter what the resolution from her letter. We have no idea. No one communicates with us. We need answers. And we will take this to court if we have to. When I got the details it was an apartment in 350 miles from me where I have never been EVER. They provided a guaranty with my name on it unsigned by me with no date. I am a victim of identity theft, I have been dealing with this company and others in the Texas area in reference to utilities that have been opened in my name. I've never lived in the state of Texas I'm from California. i've spoke to several agents at pro collect Inc. a Miss Penny and Miss Edwards both of which were extremely unhelpful. I have been yelled at, I have been talked over, I have been told that they will not listen to me when I'm talking and explaining my situation. This has been a very unsettling experience for me as my credit has been run through and my credit score has gone down considerably due to the identity theft. I contacted the federal trade commission And the consumer federal protection bureau and filed reports with both agencies. Pro Collect requested me to get a police report but my local police department will not do report. I have sent all reports that I've been able to file to pro collect Inc. and I have disputed on my credit through the credit bureaus of these collections that have hit my account. Still this company is saying that this is my account yet I can prove I've never lived in Texas. I can also prove that this is not my account and never has been my accounts. Pro collect Inc. is very unreasonable and just adds to the hurtful situation as a victim of identity theft. They are not here to help in anyway they read a script and will talk over you so they can get out what they need to and don't give you a chance to explain or try to find a resolution for this horrible situation. This man could have easily prevented me from paying off a debt that ProCollect, the company the he works, was attempting to collect from me. I called ProCollect to try and inquire about and pay a debt that I had just learned about. The representative disclosed the fact that I had a 50% settlement discount on my account that was valid if paid by 01/15/2020. He instead gave false information to me, stating that ProCollect could not offer me a settlement. He said that all he could do was waive the payment fee of around $7.00 and delete my bad credit off of my account. The details: On a call that I made to ProCollect on 12/23/2019 at 10:24 AM I was told by a "Mr.Smith" (probably a fake name) MULTIPLE times that no settlement discount could be reached in fulfilling my debit. He said that all ProCollect could do is waive the $7 (and some change) payment fee and that all derogatory credit would be deleted from the account at hand which he said is "rarely ever done". He stated MULTIPLE TIMES over the phone "that having bad credit deleted is worth $500 dollars to me. To have my bad credit erased I would pay $500". I found it odd that he kept repeating this "$500" figure and that he kept stating that having bad credit deleted is "worth $500 dollars" to him. I now have in my hands a letter FROM ProCollect stating that ProCollect will offer me the following: "RECEIVE 50% DISCOUNT & DELETION FROM CREDIT REPORT" if paid by 1/15/2020." This 50% discount equals to $521.75 ! Now I understand why "Mr.Smith" kept repeating that, although "I had no option to reach a settlement", "having bad credit deleted off a report is worth $500 to me". This man flat out lied to me and scammed me out of over $500 as a representative of ProCollect, who's job is to inform people of their account information and options for settlement for the purpose of fulfilling a debt., Completely and I mean COMPLETELY unethical. And to add further insult he even stated "because you are coming in person to pay which no one typically does, i will waive the $7.00 (and some Change) payment fee and have your bad credit deleted off your account for you, which is rarely ever done." A complete scam artist and you can BET I am speaking to a manager in person at my first opportunity. I have a record of this call and it was a recorded call! I was completely lied to. I am disgusted. Also: What if I wasn't able to pay the false debt amount that "Mr. Smith" stated I ultimately owed in full (as I was forced to do, per this representative's completely false information about my account with ProCollect) ?? This would mean that I would not have been able to pay my debt. I would literally continue to receive harassing calls about paying this debt from ProCollect (that unbeknownst to me, I had enough funds to pay at the time of the call and still hereafter!!!!!!) and would not be able to do the responsible thing and pay my debt off in full which was exactly what I was trying to do. Even worse, due to receiving this false information, the debt could have potentially grown during the time I would have been trying to collect the funds to pay!!! This is absolutely grounds for termination as well as a lawsuit. A representative of ProCollect disclosing a 50% settlement on an account from a client who is trying/willing desperately to pay off her debt. I am the one who called ProCollect because I wanted to pay off my debt. I am the one who scrambled around and sacrificed time and resources to get together the full *False* amount I was told I had to pay to fulfill my debt and delete my derogatory credit history, per "Mr. Smith's" information that he gave to me. $521.75 is a lot of money. I was broken into and the apartment complex literally did nothing and that was also when I found out that the "security cameras" were there just for decoration. Well being a poor college student I couldn't really afford to move so I stayed. Fast forward to June 2017 I moved out, paid rent early (my lease was supposed to end in August) dropped off my keys and everything. I do not hear from this apartment complex ever again. No email, text, call, mail or anything. October of 2017, a collection comes up on my credit report. Original creditor? This apartment complex and the agency is pro collect. So I try to call the complex first oh it turns out they closed down their entire complex and everything like totally different staff, owners, and property owners. They told me they have no idea what the old complex did with any of their paperwork and the old complex literally completely closed down to where there is no forwarding information. So I call Procollect. Right off the bat, she was so fucking rude to me. Kept asking me to pay and I said no I need to find out why I'm having this collection so she goes on to tell me the specific charges I'm being charged with and it was repair for the doors (the ones they never fixed after I was broken into) having illegal animals and having dogs (I only had a cat and paid the deposit and monthly rent for him) and then stuff that was about my other roommates (we had individual leases so I'm not responsible for them being evicted). I try to explain the situation, she keeps interrupting me everytime I try to talk and then asks me for my card information. I refuse and request the original creditors address and phone number and lo and behold it's the information for the new apartment complex and try to tell her that and yet again she interrupts me and refuses to hear anything and tells me she's going to send the police after me. She then asks me for my phone number (my old number was on fiel) I refuse to give it to her and new address and hang up because I'm so pissed and upset. I literally never heard from this collection agency until that phone call, and now they call me all the time. I had to block the number because it was that often. I have a different service so my voicemails don't carry over but the pictures are the recent blocked calls and what the voicemail says. This place is so ridiculous, rude, and honestly I think they scam people. I've dealt with collection agencies before and I haven never dealt with this amount of bullshit with them. I do not like how they still somehow got my number when I specifically told them I will not give my number and I don't like how detailed they know about the breakdown of the collection amount. Idk if that's a common thing but like I said all other collection agencies never gave me a breakdown or anything. read more
