First bad sign - they did not read the details if my project where I clearly stated this was a hoarder (non biohazard) situation. Second bad sign is they didn't respond back when they said they would. The response was no, they can't do the job after reading the details and looking at pics. The response was something I expected and was no big deal. Third bad sign is that they called me on labor day, having changed their minds and they had enough people willing to do the job, but they had to do it THAT DAY. I was already questioning their commitment to helping me, so I let them know I would talk to other companies because companies have canceled on me before. They said they wouldn't cancel use "if we say we'll do a job, we actually do it." I said OK, just let me speak to the other company who would be coming to do a visual quote in 3 hours. I gave them my maximum budget, and they said they were OK with what I set. Forth bad sign: I called them back and said I would be willing to work with them. Then they said they would need to come visually inspect to give me a quote, which was weird, because they already agree to the price I set. Final bad sign was that they came to do the visual and barely stepped foot into my house. They looked disgusted, and like they had no intention of doing the job. One of the women said they would step outside to discuss, but I was already prepared for a NO. THEY DROVE OFF INSTEAD OF LETTING ME KNOW WHAT THEY DECIDED. I had to text them and ask "So, you drove away - I'm guessing that's a no?" They immediately messaged back, saying they wouldn't be doing the job. Long story short, they flip-flop, don't keep their word, waste your time, don't pay attention to detail and, in my opinion are dishonest. A simple no, was fully expect and would have been appreciated instead of the run around I got.

Got our estimate, paid the deposit and waited. And waited. And messaged, and waited. After 6 weeks of no update, I learn our color choice was backordered and nobody knew/told us (we would have chosen another color because our dog was getting hurt!). Figured out that delay, then, "any day now". Another two weeks, many reminders and nagging texts (I hate nagging contractors, I would rather they just do their job). Finally texted to cancel our contract and get our money back, and surprise! Our fence was ready to install. Installer finally came and was a hard worker, but the post they sent has exposed edges and didn't accept the hardware correctly. The hinges didn't really self-close so we asked for them to adjust them. The install manager came to "adjust" them but it still never closed by itself. A year+ later, the gates are warped and the hinges are garbage. They were supposed to be self-closing, but they are way too light duty for the weight of the gate. Not only are they not self-closing, but you can't even swing the gate closed because it's out of balance and just swings itself back open again. The gate is so heavy and out of plumb, it needs to be pushed closed to latch every time. Messaged about getting hinges replaced under warranty, in May, about 3 months before our warranty ran out. Of course I was given another run-around answer that the manufacturer is designing better hinges and can we wait for those? I asked for that to be emailed in writing, so we would still have the hinges covered under warranty. Last messaged received May 12th, it's now Sept 16th. Nope, never got an email nor hinges. Not holding my breath, although I expect they will amazingly show up with hinges as soon as this review posts. Two stars instead of one because the gates are still standing.

I called and had them come out for an estimate last Tuesday. The guy spent about three minutes at…read moremy home. I measured the area prior to him coming and also had a few other bids. My measurements and the other companies all had 123 total feet of fencing. I asked this guy what his measurements were and he hesitated and told me "about 130 feet." Then he said he would email me a bid in about two days. Two days went by and no email. I called Friday morning and asked about my estimate and the lady on the phone took my info, confirmed my email and said I would have the email with the estimate no later than 5 pm that day. It is now Tuesday, a week later. Even companies who have come out after them have already given me all their estimates. The moral of the story is, these guys don't care about your time. They're not honest in any of their dealings with me either. Go with someone else. We certainly will be.

BlackDog came highly recommended to us. After looking at our 11'x11' kitchen, they were amicable…read moreand persuasive about the quality of their work and how long it would take them, especially given the pandemic. We hired them to remodel our small kitchen and replace the living room carpet with wood flooring to match our existing wood floor. They gave us their 5-week schedule for our project up front. The actual time they took was 5.5 months. Communication throughout the project, between their project manager and everyone (workers and client) was very poor and at times abusive. The flooring subcontractor appeared on site unscheduled and without preparing us. We were advised people and pets had to vacate the premises immediately for at least four days. To add insult to injury, after jumping thru hoops to find somewhere to stay, upon our return, the new floor did not even match the old and would have to be redone, forcing us to vacate yet again. The subs who installed the appliances had never installed appliances before. We were told that once water to the kitchen was turned back on, we could start using the dishwasher. After we ran the dishwasher, we uncovered massive water damage. Blackdog discovered they had connected only one of two dishwasher hoses. The dishwasher had drained water directly onto the kitchen floor, which was covered with blankets and cardboard at the time. Rough plumbing was scheduled the first week when the walls were bare, but not done until the BlackDog project manager realized the new sink couldn't drain. They had to cut through three of our brand-new cabinets to access and reconfigure pipes. In the process of moving the new appliances and island around the house, BlackDog damaged the cabinetry and island and the granite top for the island came unglued. Twice, the electrical wiring that fed power to the island was pulled up through a hole in the floor that was cut in the middle of the walkway instead of underneath the island. Twice, it had to be rectified. Although our interaction with the company's owner began pleasantly enough, when the project was almost complete and it came down to money, things got ugly, causing huge amounts of stress for our entire family. It took weeks to resolve and finally get the job completed. All in all, it was a terrible experience for us. On the bright side, there are a few good people who work for or with BlackDog who knew what they were doing and who spared us a worse experience. They know who they are.
