Very small portions, no temperature control, and no taste on top of that! In fact they have been cited for violations in reference to the food temperatures and yet still don't check temperatures. Not sure they even own a food thermometer? Obviously nutrition is a big part of the healing process! If you put on your call light, don't expect it to be answered right away. Staff is stretched very thin here! Some of the staff members care a lot more than others, but that's everywhere. Riley was a great Nurse and Lillie was a great tech. Those are the only 2 names I can recall off the top of my head that gave exceptional care. I was there when the Occupational Therapist was doing the final discharge assessment as I am a family member. Talk about rude and no patience! Yes, she has both of those titles! Discharge was a complete disaster!!! When you first arrive at the facility an assessment is done on the equipment you currently have at home. We didn't have a wheelchair and were in desperate need of one as my family member was having a difficult time standing, not to mention walking. Insurance wasn't an issue as my family member had it covered. Also home health was to be ordered as well. Nightmare! So I spoke with the facility the morning of discharge via phone. I asked about the wheelchair? Well we will order it now and hope that it gets delivered by the time you get here. What am I supposed to do in the meantime with my family member not able to walk? It will be delivered to your house. In my opinion, that's just setting us up for failure and basically saying that's your problem now! Thankfully a staff member did allow us to take their wheelchair until we had ours delivered after advocating for my family member! Fast Forward - wheelchair never was delivered nor home health ordered. I even followed up on this the following week as I had two family members there at the same time and discharged at the same time/same destination. Ultimately when I arrived I had to wheel both of them out myself and it was my responsibility to get them in the vehicle by myself. I had to ultimately lift one of them in my minivan due to her not being able to stand or walk and she screamed in severe pain. We left there and went straight to the Emergency room where she was admitted to the hospital for over a week and transferred to an acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital for additional therapy. Also, the Nurse Manager will absolutely take the side of her staff regardless of what you say as a patient or patient's family member. I know this first hand as I had spoke with her on a few occasions about different issues. Complete waste of oxygen and time. This place definitely needs some improvements in a lot of areas throughout the facility with staff, food, etc. It could be a great place with some adjustments. Recent remodeling was done to give it a better atmosphere and appearance. The new floors due make quite a racket with the computers rolling on it though! It would be nice to have fresh fruit readily available for the patients for snacks as well as fresh brewed ice tea.

My first workout was mild, but Ian built the intensity slowly over several sessions, so that the last 2 sessions I had left me feeling the endorphins for about 24 hours after the workouts, which is so close to being completely pain free so that even my husband noticed how much happier I was after the aquatherapy. Do NOT let fear of the water intimidate you from taking advantage of this wonderful resource! In the same way race horses are toned in water tanks for racing, you can rebuild your strength with aquatherapy! And, lastly, the folks at the front desks are always friendly and happy to see you, even though this facility is quite busy with patients who stay and patients that come daily. I am so glad I was willing to drive the 50 minutes it takes me to get there for these sessions every week.

As a disabled, transgender man, this place is the last place I'd recommend to anyone from ANY walks…read moreof life, even if you aren't any sort of minority like I am. During my visit from 08/08 to 08/12, the following happened: 1. Upon being admitted for a drug induced psychosis, they put my on their "volatile" unit (Sunshine) and, against my gender identity and request, roomed me with a woman. When I approached staff about it, the first member told me to essentially "suck it up", and it took me seeking out two other members for them to find a solution. Said solution was putting me in isolation. 2. After rooming in the isolation room, I was waken up by staff members loudly talking about how transgender people were essentially not people as well, one member stating "...I just don't support their lifestyle" within earshot of me. 3. The staff violated multiple federal AND state patient rights; they didn't orally tell me my rights, they didn't give me proper accommodation, and they treated me and other patients like animals. 4. Thanks to the nature of the beds, a spinal injury I was almost fully recovered from was agitated, and during my stay, I went from being fully mobile to once again having to use a wheelchair almost full time. 5. Whenever I was transferring MYSELF from my wheelchair to the bed, I fell onto the floor and was stared at by the entire nursing staff. It took me calling out to them for them to finally start making their way to me, and one female member made a point to put gloves on and handle me as if I was trash. 6. They filled their patients past capacity, and one woman was put into isolation whenever I was moved out into a room (once again, with a woman, against my wishes and everyone else's comfort) and the other was sleeping on one of their restraint impact cushion on the common room's floor. She had to ask staff to shower multiple times because she didn't have a room, and her request was ignored several times in a row until a male nursing staff (who made my stay survivable) gathered her things and called over a female staff member to watch her. 7. It took me getting loud and leaving my room at 12am for staff members to stop loudly talking and essentially screaming at some moments to respect other people's sleep during the night. One particular member named Daisy set off my agitation by mumbling "well morning staff does it too" under her breath, and then proceeded to talk about me, a PATIENT, behind my back during the rest of my stay to other staff members. 8. Despite my drug induced psychosis episode clearing up on the 9th, they refused to discharge me; it took me begging a staff member named Amina (who was also wonderful, by the way) to help me with filing to leave for AMA for me to finally be listened to, even though it's stated in the patient right's papers (that they printed off and handed me myself) that patients who are no longer in need of treatment are not to be held in the facility. I was not suicidal, homicidal, nor even a danger to ANYONE, including myself, yet they held me even after multiple doctors/therapists I talked with 1-on-1 said so themselves that they didn't know why I was there. 9. I was able to leave in the early hours of the evening on the 12th, and even though the same male staff member previously mentioned had to wheel me out in a wheelchair, they marked me as being ambulatory on their discharge paperwork. Ambulatory, even though I fell TWICE during my stay. TLDR; don't go here or send anyone you love here if you don't want to have to fight for you/them to get the help you actually need.
