The office/scheduling person I talked to wouldn't give me any sort of timeframe ("sometime between 9am and 5pm"). Seriously? We agreed on a price to pump the tank, and a $150/hour "digging fee" since it was winter. I agreed. The technician arrived around noon the next day (all other septic companies I've dealt with send two people). Technician refused to dig, pretty much ignored a survey that showed the approximate location of the tank (within 2-3 feet). He have a few half-hearted pokes into the ground, claimed my system was not "up to code" (it IS up to code). Tried to upsell me on getting some machinery to excavate. So he basically refused to do the work agree on, and wasted most of my day since I had to stay home, and left without pumping my tank. I called Mike's Septic in Norwalk and they showed up on time (gave me a "morning" time window, which was great), located the tank without issue (the hatch was only buried a few inches under ground level). They did NOT charge me a digging fee, cost $50 less that Stright/Wind River for the pumping, and did a quick snake of the line from my house to the tank - great service.

We were selling our home and the buyer used Al Dexter Septic & Drainage (it's who they could get on…read moreshort notice). The man who did the inspection effectively scared the buyer away after noticing the tank level was a bit lower than normal. He began to share conjecture about what the issue could be and essentially said the problems were so bad that they could not be solved. Because of this, the buyer backed out without any willingness to get a second opinion or negotiate. We since had two other reputable and longstanding septic companies in Fairfield County come out to look at the system. The issue turned out to be a very small leak near the drainage pipe of the septic system - a minor $1,200 fix. After having to pay $2K for these other companies to evaluate the problem, we then had to take an offer tens of thousands of dollars less than our original - which we were fortunate enough to have on hand. I'm sure this service is fine for an annual tank pump out, but I would beware when it comes to inspections.
