I was about to go on vacation, and my back muscles were a bit tight. I had been thinking about…read moregetting a massage for a while, since it had been over a year, and this business was right across South Cobb Drive from the Planet Fitness that I usually go to. I did check the Yelp reviews, and there were 6 non-recommended reviews. Even though the reviews were not recommended, they generally seemed positive. Since I had very little time left before my vacation, I decided to give the place a try. When I walked in, there was only one person working, and luckily they were available to give me a massage. They had a menu of services listed on the desk. A regular one hour massage is $70, but I decided to go for the one hour deep tissue massage for $80. One odd thing is that I had to pay for the massage up front, however, I was still able to add a tip after the service. Every massage place has a different style, including this place. You never really know what to expect the first time you go. The massage began without the use of oil, but it still felt fine. A lot of pressure was used, but I expected that with a deep tissue massage. Even though I had gone to the chiropractor three hours earlier, one part of my spine between my shoulder blades popped back into place during the beginning of the massage. It must have been out of place for months, and I'm not sure why the chiropractor didn't address it. Various pressure points were used during the massage, and it definitely helped my muscles to relax, even though parts of a deep tissue massage are not always comfortable. I was asked at various points if I was doing fine and if the pressure was good. I've had many massages over the years, and I could tell that the person had a lot of massage experience. At the end of the massage, I could tell that I felt relaxed. Any tight spots that I had were gone. For the next two days, I noticed that the area between my shoulder blades felt different. My spine must have been out of alignment for so long, that my muscles were readjusting. It has now been a week and a half after my massage. I still feel good, and my spine has held the adjustment. I plan to get a massage at least monthly, and I will come back to this place. I would recommend calling ahead to make sure that they have availability. I was very lucky that I walked in at the right time with no appointment.

At that location, I was given a form asking about problem areas, the therapist discussed what needed attention, and the massage felt customized to me. That was not my experience here. When I arrived, I was simply asked how long I wanted the massage to be, and I was charged immediately. After that, there was very little communication. I was shown to a clean but sparse room, and the massage began without any discussion of pressure, problem areas, or what I was hoping to get from the session. The massage itself was relaxing enough, but it felt very generic. Most of the time was spent on my back and legs, with no particular attention given to areas that actually needed it. I teach and train Brazilian jiu-jitsu, so my hands often hurt and could have used extra work, but since the therapist barely spoke to me, that never came up. My hands received only a few seconds of attention each. The room was clean, but there was no noticeable aromatherapy or anything else that made the experience feel especially calming. The music was also on a very short loop, which became distracting after hearing the same song repeatedly. I left feeling slightly more relaxed, but the experience did not feel personalized and was not comparable to other massages I've had at a similar price. It was not terrible, but it was disappointing and not something I would return for.

Cheap pricing for first time clients. Dennis Parks is a…read moreprofessional licensed massage therapist with 20 years experience and it shows. Never again will I waste my money on skin rubbing style massage places. If you look at the reviews of some of these places beside the restaurants they are terrible reviews. I wanted/needed something more, I had a problem build up of lactic acid and an inflammatory reaction from over work and needed help. Modesty was maintained. Mr. Dennis has a partner who is female, he claims she's better than he is. Mr. Dennis is the kind of massage therapist who will go the extra mile using Many modalities, and various international techniques, even exceeding the time limit, to make sure everything is completed to his satisfaction. His knowledge level is high and he's able to rattle off of the medical terms for the muscles he's working on. He used cupping, Heat, gravity, and moving my limbs up and over to stretch and elongate tight contracted muscles. Mr. Dennis can bring his massage table to your office or home and provide the service on a regular basis. At the end he taught me two exercises that will help my issue and I've never heard or seen these exercises before! They are truly a therapeutic and occupational therapy level of guidance. He has both short term and long term goals for therapeutic recovery. He moves slowly, has a kind voice. The office is nothing very special, is run down needs new carpet, so what! I just got the best massage I've ever had! The bed is very comfortable and accommodates all body types. Plenty of positioning equipment and shares that comfort is maintained but the pain feels pretty good to knowing that relief is on the way. Thank you yelp for showing me this massage therapist!

The good: She actually used the right amount of pressure when I said not too much. She worked my problem area well (shoulder blade area) including stretching. She gave good tips on stretching at home. She was nice and pleasant. The bad: she had a cordless phone with her and left the room during my massage to answer it. She did add time accordingly but who does that?? Next no-no, her little dog was there! She left the door cracked, I guess to listen for the dog, which came in and laid down for a little before leaving the room again. You don't know if someone has allergies or not, and it's not relaxing listening to a dog walking around with its tags clattering. At least he didn't bark or I probably would've left. Third thing, the walls seem kind of thin anyways but since the door was cracked I could hear someone else's phone convo. What couldn't they answer the phone?? While their prices are lower which reflects the overall atmosphere, which is kind of dingy and cluttered when you walk in, I don't plan to come back. And I'm fine with that type of atmosphere but the unprofessionalism can't be overlooked. Note- I had this service several months ago and planned to go back to give them another try before I did a review but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
