On Mother's Day, May 9, 2021, we suffered a compete loss of our home to a fire which claimed the lives of our 2 dogs. Since the fire we are living in a rental in Summit Township. We pay all utilities here and we set up our trash service through Pro Waste which operates here in Erie, Pa. When i set up our service my debit card has its billing address as my home on Village Street but I set up the trash here at Oliver Road. My 1st bill for trash service came to my Vllage Street address. We called and notified them to please send the bill here to the rental address. 2nd bill came again to the Village Street address. Again we called and notified them and our next bill came to Oliver Road. My bill has been paid and up to date. Our contractor uses Pro Waste for all the dumpsters that have been at the house as they rebuild our home.
Fast forward to last week... our trash was not picked up. We called Pro Waste and spoke with Frank who questioned the Village Street address. We explained we had a house fire and are having our trash service here at the rental. Frank was very helpful and had a truck come out the next day to pick up our trash. Today we had our trash put to the curb as scheduled and a truck came to the house this morning as usual. The driver was witnessed by our neighbor getting out of his truck and cutting open our trash bags. When asked what he was doing the driver returned to his truck and drove away, not picking up any of our trash. Unaware that this had happened we contacted Pro Waste when we realized that again our trash wasn't picked up. We spoke again with Frank who stated that, reading notes in the computer, our service had been discontinued and we were being refunded the remainder of February and all of March service payment. Frank stated he was unaware as to why this happened. We called the main number again and spoke with another representative and asked that we be called back by the person in charge, which we learned was the owner of the company. We were called back by "Margaret" I believe her name was. This woman informed us that they found mail in our trash from our Village Street address. **Please note the we did not choose to forward our mail to the rental. Village Street is our home and although the fire occured we are there daily working with the contractors and pick up our mail there** Per Margaret, as we are bringing "trash from Village Street to our Oliver Road addres" they terminated our service. Although I explained the only thing that comes to this house is our mail I was told "the owner is done dealing with your situation". I explained that no one lives at Village Street. That we have a Pro Waste dumpster in the driveway we pay for to dispose of any contractor waste. Again I was told that we were terminated do to this. I asked to speak with the owner directly and was told he would not speak to me and she was told to call and inform me of his decision. I again attempted to explain that we had a house fire and lost everything and are here while our home is rebuilt. I was told "Maam. That is not our problem. We are done dealing with your situation and have the right to terminate service without explanation. You can find trash service elsewhere". Please note, no contractor waste or anything from our home in Village Street has ever been brought here. We generate no trash there as we can not live there at this time. The devastated and defeated feeling I've had all day is inexcusable. To treat anyone that way is heartless. We contacted our Contractor Nick from Solid State Construction who was very sympathetic and called ProWaste himself, attempting to help us. Although Nick and his business use ProWaste for their dumpster needs he was also met with this woman's rudeness. This is just not right. As it stands we pay for trash at both addresses through the same company. I wanted to share this experience with all of you. My heart hurts that anyone could be so cruel. read more
